* * * PREAMBLE: —While reality as the transforming relational continuum (the Wave-field aka the Tao) or simply TRANSFORMATION, is INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL, Nietzsche points our that our WESTERN CULTURE habit is to employ the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING-and-GRAMMAR to inject into the psyche the EFFABLE notion of LOCAL SOURCING of actions and development.  Thus, for example, TRANSFORMATION experienced pre-lingually as NONLOCAL resonance (‘DUNING’) is reduced by NAMING to the LOCAL ‘DUNE’ which is psychologically abstracted from FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE into FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO and animated with GRAMMAR; e.g.. ‘the DUNE’ is growing higher and longer and is shifting across the “Desert floor”.  It is one thing to use this DOUBLE ERROR abstraction as a tool of INFERENCE to jog the intuition into reviving an experience of inclusion in TRANSFORMATION (as is the understanding in the EAST), … and quite another (as in the WEST) to take this DOUBLE ERROR abstraction LITERALLY and in the process, construct a pseudo-reality that is innately ambiguous and which cultivates a ‘BIPOLAR DISORDER’ that has become the defining ‘trademark’ of WESTERN CULTURE.  That is, when FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-TWO and the dynamic of nature is no longer understood as TRANSFORMATION (wherein FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-ONE), is it then the FIGURE that sources change in the GROUND or is it the GROUND that sources change in the FIGURE? (does the movement of the flag source movement or the air or does the movement of the air source movement of the flag?).

WESTERN CULTURE IS INFECTED by BIPOLAR DISORDER arising from this DOUBLE ERROR based ambiguity, the invention of NAMING and GRAMMAR that construes FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO; i.e. as INHABITANT and HABITAT when understood by way of the EITHER-OR logic of the EXCLUDED medium.  The EAST, supported by modern physics, understands FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE as in a holographic Wave-field reality wherein the ‘quantum’ BOTH/AND logic of the INCLUDED medium prevails and where we, as INHABITANTS are not separate from the HABITAT but relational features within it as with the boil in the flow.

BIPOLAR DISORDER in WESTERN CULTURE comes with the DOUBLE ERROR based splitting of TRANSFORMATION into the binary opposites of PRODUCTION and CONSUMPTION.  Once ‘PRODUCTION’ is ‘broken out’ as an abstract ‘action-in-itself’, and since we attach value to PRODUCTION as if it ‘were real’ (as implied by the DOUBLE ERROR), we blind ourselves to the ‘real’ reality of TRANSFORMATION aka the Wave-field aka ‘the Tao’.   By substituting the one-sided abstraction of PRODUCTION as a pseudo-real substritute for TRANSFORMATION, we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS REWARD, CELEBRATE and give STATUS and ACCLAIM to ‘SUPERIOR PRODUCERS’, a BIPOLAR DISORDER infusing dysfunction when it draws attention away from the REALITY of TRANSFORMATION.   That is, the GROWTH of PRODUCTION involving at the same time, the SHRINKING of Wilderness, the overall REALITY being TRANSFORMATION.

At issue is NOT simply the abstract binary choice between the GROWTH of PRODUCTION and the LOSS of Wilderness, but the WESTERN CULTURE cognitive BIPOLAR DISORDER wherein the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR serves up abstract intellectual reduction that SUBSTITUTES for the sensory-experience reality of all-including TRANSFORMATION aka the Wave-field aka ‘the Tao’.

This note re-explores how “EAST-is-EAST-and-WEST-is-WEST-and-never-the-twain-shall-meet”

EAST (and modern physics) is EAST! ….  and, …  WEST (and classical physics) is WEST, ….  and never the twain shall meet.

Because the EITHER/OR logic of the WEST is ‘smaller’ than the BOTH/AND logic of the EAST, while the EAST can understand the WEST, the WEST cannot understand the EAST.

The WEST traps itself in the belief that FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-TWO, a concept that brews up ambiguity and bipolar disorder, while the EAST accepts that FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-ONE which fails to incubate such ambiguity and bipolar disorder.

The WEST leans on NAMING and GRAMMAR based propositions that deliver EXPLICIT constructions, which is a CRAZY-MAKER (because we are included in a transforming relational continuum).  Belief in EXPLICIT local sourcing gives rise to EGO-based “lock-in by high switching costs”.

The EAST understands language and grammar as a Wittgenstein ladder or tool of inference that is only good for cultivating an intuitive leap to the IMPLICIT reality (the transforming relational continuum) that lies innately beyond capture in EXPLICIT language terms.

(EXPLICIT: – fully revealed or expressed without vagueness, implication, or ambiguity : leaving no question as to meaning)

Jill Astbury’s book titled “Crazy-For-You: The Making of Women’s Madness” points, implicitly, to BIPOLAR DISORDER /SCHIZOPHRENIA that is built into the intellectual foundations of WESTERN CULTURE.

That is; WESTERN CULTURE is A BIPOLAR-DISORDER-LADEN CULTURE but since it is the NORMAL base-case for us WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS, we cannot see the DISORDER because this BIPOLAR DISORDER is the NORMALITY “we are coming from”.  That is, the conservative-liberal psycho-political split IS BIPOLAR DISORDER on a culture-wide scale and we live with it and accept it as NORMAL.

Astbury’s suggestion that Women ‘take the hit’ within the BIPOLAR-DISORDERED WESTERN CULTURE can be expanded to ‘the sensitive miner’s canaries’ ‘take the hit’.

SO WHAT IS THE “HIT”?

The ‘HIT’ in Astbury’s terms is the psychological pain and suffering experienced by a sensitive participant within a dysfunctional social dynamic that the majority has become toughened to accept and support that is socially imposed on everyone as ‘normality’.

This dysfunctional social dynamic comes from intellectually ‘EFFABLE-IZING the INEFFABLE” or, in other words, ‘LOCAL-IZING the NONLOCAL’.  In the modern physics understanding of reality, as in indigenous aboriginal cultures, Taoism/Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta, our understanding is that we are inclusions within a ‘Wave-field’; a transforming relational continuum, ‘the Tao’, and since everything is in flux, this reality is INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL.

While we cannot ‘speak of it’ directly and explicitly, since it is a continually TRANSFORMING flux (the Wave-field aka ‘the Tao’), we can nevertheless use language to IMPLY or INFER it.

BOTH EAST and WEST use language and grammar to create an EFFABLE-because-LOCAL reduction of the INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL reality, and this is done with the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR.  For example the reality of FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE in our fluid Wave-field reality (as with a ‘boil’ in a ‘flow’) is reduced to FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO in our system of language that serves as a tool to EFFABLE-IZE the INEFFABLE (LOCALIZE-the-NONLOCAL).

Whereas, the BOILING-in-the-flow-IS-ONE-with-the-FLOW, we use NAMING to impute LOCAL thing-in-itself existence to the BOILING; e.g. “hurricane Katrina”, and conflate this with GRAMMAR to impart to the NAMING-instantiated thing-in-itself, Katrina, the power of SOURCING its own actions and development; e.g. ‘Katrina is growing larger and stronger and is moving towards New Orleans’.

This use of language to render EFFABLE-because-LOCAL the INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL is employed by BOTH EAST and WEST, but while EASTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS retain the understanding of the INEFFABLE as the primary reality while using the language-based reduction-to-EFFABLE as a BOOTSTRAP tool or ‘Wittgenstein Ladder’ for INFERRING or IMPLYING the INEFFABLE “PRIMARY” reality, WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS  accept the reduced-to-EFFABLE pseudo-reality as the “ACTUAL, EXPLICIT OPERATIVE REALITY”.

Thus, the same language and grammar rendering that is understood by EASTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS (and modern physics) as IMPLICIT, is understood by WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS (and Newtonian physics) as EXPLICIT.  For example, ‘continents drifting’ and ‘seafloor spreading’ are understood, in the EAST as IMPLICIT language-and-grammar representations of an overall (spacetime)TRANSFORMATION (Wave-field) which is INEFFABLE, and which cannot be understood EXPLICITLY.  However, ‘continents drifting’ and ‘seafloor spreading’, are understood in the WEST, “literally” as EXPLICIT statements of FACT.

Thus, FOR US WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS, ‘hurricane Katrina’ is understood as a REAL thing-in-itself FIGURE that “EXISTS” SEPARATELY from the ambient GROUND (i.e.  the WESTERN CULTURE understanding is that FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-TWO).

On the other hand, for MODERN PHYSICS and for EASTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS, ‘hurricane Katrina’ is understood in a FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE sense (as relational TRANSFORMATION), and the reduction by way of NAMING and GRAMMAR is understood as an expedient intellectual EFFABLE-izing device for INFERRING or IMPLYING the INEFFABLE, the INEFFABLE persisting as the ’REAL REALITY’.

Coming back, in this discussion, to the reference to Jill Astbury’s CRAZY-FOR-YOU inference, the crazy-making problem begins with the WESTERN CULTURE miner’s canary accepting the FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO split, IN SPITE OF ITS AMBIGUITY, as the LITERAL and EXPLICIT TRUTH (rather than as an expedient BOOTSTRAPPING tool or Wittgenstein ladder’).

That is, the NAMING and GRAMMAR reduction of FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE, … to FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO comes at the price of introducing an abstract AMBIGUITY as to whether the FIGURE sources changes in the GROUND, or whether the GROUND sources changes in the FIGURE.

This is only a problem in WESTERN CULTURE due to WESTERN CULTURE belief in ‘sourcing’ (the LOCAL SOURCING of actions and developments).

In EASTERN CULTURE, as in modern physics, there is only TRANSFORMATION which is NONLOCAL as in the Wave-field aka ‘the Tao’.

As mentioned above, the reduction to EFFABLE-because-LOCAL of the INEFFABLE because-NONLOCAL DELIVERS UP AMBIGUITY as to whether the FIGURE sources changes in the GROUND, or whether the GROUND sources changes in the FIGURE.

This is where the SCHIZOPHRENIA or BIPOLAR DISORDER enters into WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENCE, … which doesn’t impact the EASTERN CULTURE ADHERENT because the latter only use the reduction to FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO as an EFFABLE-because-LOCAL ‘throw away tool for INFERRING (IMPLYING) the INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL’.  That is, the NAMING of the boil in the flow ‘KATRINA’, combined with GRAMMAR to impute to ‘her’ ‘her own power of LOCAL SOURCING’ of actions and development, ‘EFFABLE-IZES’ what is in reality, an unbounded field of relational TRANSFORMATION.

The BIPOLAR DISORDER arrives when we take this FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO construction LITERALLY/EXPLICITLY, as in the WEST.  The disorder does NOT arise in the EAST because the FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO construction is understood as an expedient tool).  That is; once we use language to remove the understanding of relational TRANSFORMATION and substitute the intellectual notion of LOCAL SOURCING of actions and developments, by way of the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMER, then ambiguity arises; e.g. as to whether the flapping flag sources the wind, or the wind sources the flapping of the flag, … as also; …  whether the continent drifts or the seafloor spreads.

[notice that both of these examples are examples of ‘the DOUBLE ERROR; [FIRST ERROR] NAMING (that imputes LOCAL thing-in-itself BEING) and [SECOND ERROR] GRAMMAR (that conflates the FIRST ERROR by imputing to the LOCAL thing-in-itself its own power of SOURCING actions and development). Together, these two errors engineer a LOCAL SOURCING of actions and developments]]

WE WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS, because we take this FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO LITERALLY and EXPLICITLY, split ourselves (the social collective) down the middle on this question of ‘which way does the SOURCING of actions and developments ‘really’ work? … from FIGURE-to-GROUND or from GROUND-to-FIGURE?’.   This splits the WESTERN CULTURE social collective into mutually opposing camps; ‘conservative’ (the flag’s flapping sources the wind) and ‘liberal’ (the wind sources the flag’s flapping).  Or, in terms of people; ‘conservative’; the individual is the basic source of collective action (one bad apple spoils the barrel), … ‘liberal’ (the social collective is the basic source of individual action (it takes a whole community to raise a child).

[Nota Bene: Rather than ‘getting lost in attempting to answer this unanswerable conundrum, recall that this dilemma stands or falls on the basis of belief in ‘sourcing’ and does not even arise where we understand reality in terms of TRANSFORMATION]

In regarding ‘humans-as-things-in-themselves’, the ‘conservative’ understanding is that ‘the human individual is the basic source of crowd action’ while the ‘liberal’ understanding is that ‘the crowd action sources individual human action).

We might ask ourselves in this regard, “Am I more like a bull whose actions are sourced by his strongly independent demeanor or a sheep whose actions are sourced by his herd behaviour?”  But this would draw us off on a wild goose chase because of assumption that our behaviour is “LOCALLY SOURCED”.  (LOCAL SOURCING is a DOUBLE ERROR based abstraction)

NOTA BENE: there is no such thing as ‘local sourcing’ in a transforming relational continuum aka Wave-field aka Tao.

The BIPOLAR DISORDER that splits people into ‘conservative’ and ‘liberal’ is a split that the individual ‘miner’s canary’ may herself ‘embody’ (she may refuse to join either of the mutually polarized political factions and instead ‘embody’ the split).  This is where the WESTERN CULTURE CLINICAL RECOGNITION of BIPOLAR DISORDER comes in.  The BIPOLAR DISORDER that is generally manifest in the splitting into CONSERVATIVE and LIBERAL is not seen, within WESTERN CULTURE ITSELF, as a ‘DISORDER’, … it is accepted as a NORMAL ‘BIPOLAR CONDITION’.  Nevertheless, it clearly IS a BIPOLAR DISORDER that does NOT arise in the indigenous aboriginal culture, Taoism/Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta.

The point is that BIPOLAR DISORDER is pervasive in WESTERN CULTURE without being recognized and labelled as such, and manifests as the conservative-liberal split.   The split in this case (the conservative-liberal BIPOLAR DISORDER) develops within the social collective while the ‘officially recognized’ version of the same basic psychosis is identified as a DISORDER when it arises WITHIN THE INDIVIDUAL by her ‘EMBODYING THE SPLIT’ instead of ‘taking sides’.

EASTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS do not get ‘infected’ by this BIPOLAR DISORDER since TRANSFORMATION rather than “LOCAL SOURCING” is assumed and THERE IS NO LOCAL SOURCING IN “TRANSFORMATION” where FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-ONE.

SYNOPSIS:

I have tried to bring into connective confluence here, several commonly perceived (but differently understood) social dynamics;

They basically ‘boil down’ to differing interpretation of the role of language vis a vis the ‘TWO AND THE ONE’ problem which Mircea Eliade describes in his dissertation “Mephistopheles et l’Androgyne” which explores the issue of BIPOLAR conceptualizing of reality.

My conclusion is, consistent with Nietzsche, Bohm, Schroedinger and Wittgenstein, that TRANFORMATION as in the Wave-field dynamic is the primary reality but it is INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL (all-including).  Thus language and grammar used to render EFFABLE-because-LOCAL the INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL can only be good for INFERENCE or IMPLYING a reality that lies beyond EXPLICIT capture.

While modern physics and the EAST, including indigenous aboriginal cultures, Taoism/Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta, share this understanding, WESTERN CULTURE has allowed the TOOL of LOCALIZING and EXPLICITIZING (which in the EAST is only used as a ‘bootstrapping tool’) to ‘run away with the workman, the human/EFFABLE with the divine/INEFFABLE’.  This establishes the ‘human being’ so-to-speak, as an archetype for ‘a LOCAL BEING with the notional powers of SOURCING actions and developments’.  This abstract intellectually EFFABLE representation of reality SUBSTITUTES, in WESTERN CULTURE, for our INEFFABLE sensory experience of inclusion in the transforming relational continuum.

Our WESTERN CULTURE perceiving of COVID 19 as a PATHOGEN (as in the FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO split) rather that as a relational development within the transforming relational continuum, is a current  example of WESTERN CULTURE’s (BIPOLAR DISORDER) DENIAL of the reality of FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE.

As F. David Peat points out in ‘Blackfoot Physics’, ‘humans’ and ‘viral pathogens’ are NOT …  TWO SEPARATE, INDEPENDENT ENTITIES; …  they are coevolutionary forms within the ONE transforming relational continuum.

FOOTNOTE: WHERE DID BIRDS LEARN HOW TO BUILD NESTS?

Do birds REALLY build nests?  Or is this a DOUBLE ERROR delusion?

Most of us, even though our understanding is WESTERN CULTURE CONDITIONED, would agree with the DOUBLE ERROR based story that the river carves out the canyon is an over-simplified intellectual abstraction.  We use the DOUBLE ERROR to effable-ize the ineffable (the all-including transforming relational continuum).

We say that ‘our fertile valley farming operations GROW LARGER… OVER TIME.  This is a entirely positive ASSERTION that makes no mention of the conjugate negative SHRINKING of Wilderness, the two incomplete pictures together pointing to the greater (more complete) reality of TRANSFORMATION.

With respect to the river and canyon, we are confronted, by our own language constructions, with the ambiguity as to whether the river SOURCES the carving out of the canyon (male view) or whether the subsidence forming the valley SEDUCES or INDUCES the organizing and concentrating of rainfall runoff and is thus SOURCES the river (female view).

Should we understand the change we refer to as ‘continental drift’, instead, as ‘seafloor spreading’?   Which of these REALLY IS the source of the change that we see happening?

This AMBIGUITY only arises when we use LANGUAGE and GRAMMAR to try to capture TRANSFORMATION.  TRANSFORMATION as in the Wave-field is INEFFABLE because it is everywhere-at-the-same-time and is all inclusive (we are included in it).

What I am saying is that we can’t escape the ambiguity that comes with language because of the innate limitations of language (effable-because-local-and-explicit) representation) in trying to capture TRANSFORMATION (ineffable-because-nonlocal and implicit and thus non-representable).

The ambiguity comes with our reduction of the ineffable-because-nonlocal to the effable-because-local; e.g. TRANSFORMATION of the earth can be seen EITHER as, for example, continental drift or sea-floor spreading but if we don’t want to worry about finding words for our intuitive conceptualization, we could understand the whole of space as a fluid continuum (Wave-field) undergoing continuum transformation kind of like the Fortune Teller’s ‘liquid/vaporous crystal ball’.   This would leave us speechless because language requires some persisting forms that we can NAME and apply GRAMMAR to, so as to infer THEIR movement and THEIR development.  That’s what LANGUAG and GRAMMAR are all about; i.e. ‘DOUBLE ERROR constructions that serve as a REPRESENTATION of the fluid reality of TRANSFORMATION.

We ponder over how birds ‘know how’ to build a nest; i.e. how did they learn how to do this?  Such questions are left lying unanswered because our manner of formulating the architecture of the question infects it with the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR which imputes LOCAL SOURCING of actions and developments.  THERE IS NO LOCAL SOURCING IN THE TRANSFORMING RELATIONAL CONTINUUM AKA THE WAVE-FIELD.

The nest-building birds are included in something greater than themselves; i.e. they are included in the transforming relational continuum or, for short, TRANSFORMATION. This is a NONLOCAL dynamic.

As Wittgenstein observes in his final sum-up statement in ‘Tractatus Logico Philosophicus’,

“7. Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent.” (“Wovon man nicht sprechen kann, darüber muss man schweigen”), — Wittgenstein

As David Bohm observed in explaining the modern physics of Wave-field reality; “no single cause-and-effect relationship was ever really separate from the universe as a whole.

“Bohm felt that an effect could have an infinite number of causes. For example, if you asked someone what caused Abraham Lincoln’s death, they might answer that it was the bullet in John Wilkes Booth’s gun. But a complete list of all the causes that contributed to Lincoln’s death would have to include all of the events that led to the development of the gun, all of the factors that caused Booth to want to kill Lincoln, all of the steps in the evolution of the human race that allowed for the development of a hand capable of holding a gun, and so on, and so on. Bohm conceded that most of the time one could ignore the vast cascade of causes that had led to any given effect, but he still felt it was important for scientists to remember that no single cause-and-effect relationship was ever really separate from the universe as a whole.” – Michael Talbot, ‘The Holographic Universe’.

That’s what comes with the Wave-field reality, a transforming relational continuum.  But being able to have language to share EVEN A REDUCED RESPRESENTATION of our ineffable experience is too useful not to employ just because it must inevitably be a REDUCED and INCOMPLETE EFFABLE-INFERENCE of the INEFFABLE Wavefield (transforming relational continuum).

In other words, if we want to effable-ize the ineffable (transforming relational continuum), we can use the DOUBLE ERROR reduction method of NAMING and GRAMMAR to LOCALIZE the NONLOCAL.

Example: ‘the bird builds its nest’.

Who gave us the permission to rip out a small piece of the transforming relational continuum and use the DOUBLE ERROR to reconstitute it as if it were a LOCAL act locally sourced by an abstract NAMING-instantiated thing-in-itself (“a bird”).

Does it make things any better for us to drum up a whole bullshit story of EVOLUTION of a BIRD-thing-in-itself and all its machine like parts like flapping wings etc.   This kind of reductive bullshitting certainly takes our mind off our own inclusion in the transforming relational continuum.  In fact it comes bundled in with EGO, the belief that the ‘buck stops here’; i.e. that we are ‘independent LOCAL beings’ with our own LOCAL POWERS of SOURCING actions and developments (the DOUBLE ERROR).

The ‘DOUBLE ERROR’ has been successfully propagated in WESTERN CULTURE through declarations of independence such as the following;

Man is rational and therefore like God; he is created with free will and is master over his acts.

1731 Freedom is the power, rooted in reason and will, to act or not to act, to do this or that, and so to perform deliberate actions on one’s own responsibility. By free will one shapes one’s own life. Human freedom is a force for growth and maturity in truth and goodness; it attains its perfection when directed toward God, our beatitude.

1732 As long as freedom has not bound itself definitively to its ultimate good which is God, there is the possibility of choosing between good and evil, and thus of growing in perfection or of failing and sinning. This freedom characterizes properly human acts. It is the basis of praise or blame, merit or reproach.” – Vatican Archives, The Catholic Catechism

This religious ‘DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE’ has provided seed material for the WESTERN CULTURE SECULAR DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, fabricated with language and grammar and packaged in the DOUBLE ERROR;

The FIRST ERROR is NAMING to impute LOCAL thing-in-itself BEING to the NAMED “whatever” and the SECOND ERROR which conflates the first is GRAMMAR which imputes to the NAMING-instantiated thing-in-itself BEING, the power of SOURCING actions and developments.

With the DOUBLE ERROR we can notionally endow a human, a nation, a corporation, a continent, with the LOCAL power of SOURCING actions and development.

This DOUBLE ERROR is how we use language to render the INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL, … EFFABLE-because-LOCAL.

Now, do we really believe that the bird builds its own nest?  In other words, do we really believe it MAKES SENSE to separate out the ‘bird’ by NAMING it  so as to impute LOCAL thing-in-itself existence to it, and conflate this first error with a second error of GRAMMAR  which imputes to the NAMING-instantiated thing-in-itself, the power of SOURCING a nest-building operation?

Maybe the form we are NAMING ‘bird’ is a relational form within the transforming relational continuum, in which case we could never get to a proper (natural) understanding by using the DOUBLE ERROR to break the bird out as if it were a LOCAL INDEPENDENTLY-EXISTING thing-in-itself, notionally with its own LOCAL powers of SOURCING actions and developments.

Maybe birds and humans are relational forms within the Wave-field?

Maybe FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-ONE, … rather than TWO as in the language and grammar RE-PRESENTATION.

If we WERE to understand things in this FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-ONE manner, we would be at home in modern physics, and in the cultures of indigenous aboriginals, Taoists/Buddhists and Advaita Vedanta.

Meanwhile, our REASON takes great pride in dividing things up into separate animals and birds and then concocting stories of their separate activities and how “a bird builds a nest” (which is very much like how a ‘continent drifts’)..  This reasoning  that splits the continuum into LOCAL piecemeal actions and developments is a ‘handy reduction-of-the-ineffable-to-effable tool’ but in the case of us WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS, “the tool has run away with the workman, the (effabl)e human with the (ineffable) divine’”

REASON is a means of triggering intellectual abstraction whereby we synthetically break relational forms out of the transforming relational continuum by NAMING them and making them out to be LOCAL things-in-themselves, then using GRAMMAR to impute to them their own powers of SOURCING actions and developments. It is a valuable tool for reductive effable-izing of the ineffable, but such reduction is only good for INFERRING (triggering an intuitive leap) the ineffable which is how the EAST makes use of it, but we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS’ mistake is to use DOUBLE ERROR representation of reality as the ‘operative reality’.   This is unfortunate because the DOUBLE ERROR, taken literally, brings into play ambiguity (do continents source their own drift or does the seafloor source its own spreading?  Does the flapping flag source wind or does wind source the flapping of the flag?.

This is where REASON take us, into unresolvable ambiguity.  Intuition breaks the deadlock by way of upgrading from the EITHER/OR logic of the EXCLUDED medium wherein FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-TWO to the the BOTH/AND logic of the INCLUDED medium wherein FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-ONE.

What we experience is inclusion in TRANSFORMATION along with birds, … relational forms in the transforming relational continuum.  As soon as we employ the DOUBLE ERROR as in saying ‘birds build nests’, we are WRONG just as BOHM says we are wrong to say that James Wilkes Booth killed Lincoln.  If we can effable-ize it, it is not reality.  Reality is the transforming relational continuum aka the Wave-field, aka ‘the Tao’ which is ineffable, The Tao that can be told is not the true Tao. However useful it may be to use DOUBLE ERROR based language such as ‘the bird is building a nest’, the REAL story remains the FULL STORY of the transforming relational continuum that doesn’t lend itself to being chopped up in small pieces with the DOUBLE ERROR  Of course it is USEFUL to use language to reduce the ineffable to something effable, but it is a crazy-maker to confuse the reduction for reality, something that is habitual in the WEST but not in modern physics nor it in EAST.

We WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS like the KISS apparoach (Keep It Simple Stupid) and classical physics is much simpler than modern physics, and we continue to employ classical physics in our reality constructions even though we ‘know better’.

“As regards the academies, they are established in order to regulate the studies of the pupils and are concerned not to have the program of teaching change very often: in such places, because it is a question of the progress of the students, it frequently happens that the things which have to be chosen are not those which are most true but those which are most easy. And by that division in things which makes different people form different judgements, it so happens that certain people are in error contrary to their own opinion.” – Johannes Kepler, ‘Harmonies of the World’

Reason is first of all a language-and-grammar based scheme for reducing the INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT to the EFFABLE-because-LOCAL-and-EXPLICIT.   EGO is the seat of REASON and it SWELLS THE HEAD, while INSPIRATION is the seat of INTUITION and it FILLS THE HEART.  Intuition inspires us to dive in to the raging river to rescue the unknown child, or in other words, answer the call of nature in sustaining the harmonies of the transforming relational continuum.   In WESTERN CULTURE, the tool of REASON has been running away with the workman, the human with the divine (the effable-because-local with the ineffable-because-nonlocal).

How do we articulate so as to share and learn from our INEFFABLE sensory experience of inclusion in the transforming relational continuum aka ‘the Wavefield’ aka ‘the Tao?  Since our experience of inclusion in the Wave-field  is INEFFABLE, we must reduce it to something EFFABLE in order to share it, and this is commonly done, as described above, with intellectual jiggery-pokery; i.e. with the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR which REDUCES our experiencing of the NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT to intellectual abstract EFFABLE representations based on the LOCAL   The reductions to LOCAL and the associated REASON based constructions are only capable of INFERRING the NONLOCAL foundational reality, and that is the message of modern physics and the practice of EASTERN culture adherents (indigenous aboriginal, Taoist/Buddhist and Advaita Vedanta adherents).

We WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS, on the other hand, are employing the NAMING-and-GRAMMAR (double error based) reduction-to-LOCAL as the ‘operative reality’, and this is a CRAZY-MAKER in that it imbues a psycho-logical, innately ambiguous DISORDER of BIPOLAR SPLITTING of the reduced-to-effable representation of reality wherein FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-TWO and EITHER FIGURE OR GROUND can be ‘seen’ as the SOURCE of LOCAL actions and development (the wind can source the flapping of the flag or the flapping of the flag can source the wind).

Instead of, as in modern physics and in EASTERN CULTURE, retaining TRANSFORMATION as the PRIMARY-and-INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL REALITY (at the cost of letting go of the inference-based support tool of the EFFABLE-because-LOCAL) wherein action involves FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE, we WESTERN CULTURE adherents leave ourselves with the BIPOLAR-DISORDER-laden pseudo-reality wherein FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-TWO.   We WESTERN CULTURE adherents thus construct an innately ambiguous pseudo-reality wherein we split the collective psyche into polar opposite opinions as to whether the FIGURE “sources” changes in the GROUND, or whether the GROUND “sources” changes in the FIGURE.  Unresolvably ambiguous questions such as whether seafloor spreading explains continental drifting or whether continental drifting explains seafloor spreading is the CRAZY-MAKER that comes bundled into the WESTERN CULTURE assumption that FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-TWO.

Since EITHER/OR logic based ‘REASON’ brings with it the WESTERN psycho-logical axiom wherein FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-TWO, Nietzsche’s observation naturally follows;

The EITHER/OR separation of FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO comes directly from the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR which elevates the abstract concept of voyeur-visible LOCAL SOURCING to an unnatural primacy over our sensory experience of inclusion in NONLOCAL TRANSFORMATION wherein FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-ONE.
