“Listening not to me but to the Logos, it is wise to consider that all things are one” — Heraclitus

This proviso offered by Heraclitus used to be, for me, an intriguing sidebar aimed at preparing the reader of a treatise for some kind of non-literal interpretation.  Now it is a phrase that comes naturally to me as I set out to share the findings of a philosophical investigation of the Nietzsche kind, wherein one ‘philosophizes with a hammer’.

The gist of this essay is SUPPORT for such ideas one finds in Anti-psychiatry and in Systems Science theorizing as in ‘The Name of the Devil is Suboptimization’ (Martine Dodds-Taljaard et al).   The ‘Anti’ in Antipsychiatry is not the EITHER accept it OR reject it kind of ‘Anti’ of binary logic but the ‘there’s more to it than this’ warning as might be found on a modern medication with claims to be able to eliminate an unwanted condition but not without introducing new, hopefully ‘lesser’ unwanted conditions as ‘part of the package’.

Anti-psychiatry implies more than this; it implies the ‘miner’s canary’ issue in its full-blown sense wherein it is NOT the canary that needs healing but the environment in which the canary is included.  Fixing the individual canary is one of those expedients like wearing boots instead of cleaning up the floor; i.e. the dysfunction is deepened by such ‘side-stepping’ of reality.

The problem here is that which Nietzsche calls the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR which imputes the abstract notion of LOCAL SOURCING of actions and developments, … removing from our sensory experience prompting, understanding of reality as inclusion in TRANSFORMATION; i.e. inclusion in the Wave-field, aka the Tao, aka the transforming relational continuum.

Psychiatry, as in the above metaphors, is akin to outfitting the members of our WESTERN CULTURE society, particularly the sensitive ‘miner’s canaries’ with ‘boots’ that protect the wearer by ‘numbing them’ to the rising intensity of dysfunction in the WESTERN CULTURE social dynamic.  When we go to see the ‘shrink’, we are likely to be given a prescription that does nothing for the ambient crazy-making nature of WESTERN SOCIETY, but seeks to ‘numb one’ (particularly the sensitive ones that are quick to intuit the endemic dysfunction) to its innately pathological effects.

What this sidestepping of the REAL issue does is pave the way for continuing increase in ambient psychological pathology.  Actions which reduce the socially disruptive effects of miner’s canaries natural responses, mistaken for psycho-pathology, are in fact shutting down the natural ‘warning system’ that something is amiss in WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENT SOCIETY.

That ‘something amiss’ is being MISINTERPRETED as arising in the individual, per the WESTERN CULTURE DOUBLE ERROR based model of reality, wherein we use NAMING to impute local thing-in-itself BEING, and conflate this with GRAMMAR to impute the power of LOCAL SOURCING of actions and development to the NAMING-instantiated “LOCAL THING-IN-ITSELF” that is GRAMMAR-equipped, notionally, with “ITS OWN POWERS OF SOURCING ACTIONS and DEVELOPMENTS”.

‘There goes’ the reality of our sensory experience of inclusion in the transforming relational continuum!; i.e. our awareness of the greater reality of TRANSFORMATION, because we have, with the DOUBLE ERROR, reduced relational TRANSFORMATION to the BINARY DUALITY of PRODUCTION and CONSUMPTION; i.e. we have reduced the NONLOCAL (Wave-field) phenomena of TRANSFORMATION to the LOCAL MECHANICAL ACTIONS and DEVELOPMENT; e.g. the CONSTRUCTION and GROWTH of the LOCAL TOWN in place of the NONLOCAL TRANSFORMING of the LANDSCAPE.

As David Bohm points out, this is the same reduction as manifests between INTELLIGENCE and REASON, and Nietzsche was right there with the same understanding a century earlier, although he described it in different terms.  What is in common is the point that we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS have been giving precedence to REASON over INTELLIGENCE and this is a CRAZY-MAKER.  What our INTELLIGENCE informs us is REALLY going on is TRANSFORMATION of the relational space or ‘LANDSCAPE’ while REASON reduces this NONLOCAL dynamic to abstract LOCAL particulars by means of the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR.

REASON is what informs us in terms of RATIO so that we know that when we DOUBLE the acreage we have planted in wheat, we reap DOUBLE the PRODUCTION of wheat.

INTELLIGENCE is what informs us in terms of RELATIONS so that we know that if ‘the money keeps coming to keep increasing the GROWTH of PRODUCTION’, if we employ this simple RATIO-nale as the shaper of our actions and developments, … we will be TWISTING OFF from our INTELLIGENCE based awareness of TRANSFORMATION that is informing us that GROWTH is too simple and that in concert with the GROWTH of cultivated land, there is a reciprocal SHRINKAGE of Wildeness land, these two; GROWTH of the intentionally cultivated and the SHRINKAGE of the natural balancing oriented DIVERSITY constituting TRANSFORMATION, as in the transforming relational continuum.

TRANSFORMATION, being INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT is otherwise termed ‘the Wave-field’, ‘the Tao’, ‘the Logos’.  Because it is INEFFABLE we talk about something else that we are able to talk about; i.e. that is EFFABLE and the ACTIONS and DEVELOPMENT of LOCAL THINGS-IN-THEMSELVES is something we can ‘talk about’ like the GROWTH of our fields of wheat cultivation, and the associated GROWTH of PRODUCTION of WHEAT which is matched by the GROWTH of CONSUMPTION of WHEAT.  This is RATIO-cinative talk which is all abstraction because what is really going on, as we are informed of by our sensory experience of inclusion therein, is TRANSFORMATION.

EAST accepts that INCLUSION IN the TRANSFORMING relational continuum aka the Wave-field aka the Tao, is our sensory experience REALITY which is INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT.

WEST accepts the EFFABLE-because-LOCAL-and-EXPLICIT abstract language based construction of “REALITY” as “REALITY”, thanks to EGO which can then lay claim to the DOUBLE ERROR based LOCAL SOURCING of ACTIONS and DEVELOPMENTS.

This confusing of the EFFABLE-because-LOCAL-and-EXPLCIT for “REALITY” and our substituting it for the INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT is a CRAZY MAKER on a WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENCE wide scale.  It goes hand-in-hand with the substituting of RATIONALITY for INTELLIGENCE.

WE WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS are now firmly ensconced in using RATIONALITY or REASON for all of our problem-solving needs so that we are trapping ourselves like Sisyphus in attempting to employ REASON to get us out of problems that arise from our use of REASON instead of INTELLIGENCE.  “REASON” aka “RATIONALITY” with its concepts of GROWTH and CONSUMPTION that substitute for TRANSFORMATION, is too simple a system for dealing with our inclusion in a transforming relational continuum.

IN order to break ourselves out of our attachment to this dysfunctional inversion of putting REASON before INTELLIGENCE, we have to figure this out by putting INTELLIGENCE into its natural precedence over REASON, because REASONING hasn’t got the ‘horsepower’ to take us there.

What I am saying here is UNREASONABLE; i.e. such understanding requires our intelligence because reason cannot get us there.



Am finding the recent exchanges with howard, re the Bohm – Krishnamurti perspectives (my trying to reconcile these with Nietzsche) very stimulating even if demanding-on-the-old-noggin, … but a great way of helping to get one’s thoughts (understanding?) “in order” across not only a multiplicity of Weltanschuangen but a multiplicity of semantic approaches to capturing complexity.


Overall, my take is now this;   Bohm and Nietzsche had the same ‘concerns’ about where our global social dynami‘is going’ and it boils down to the following.  I will express it starting from the Bohm semantics this time, as my tendency has been to use Nietzsche’s ‘DOUBLE ERROR’ based perspective which, in my view, is equivalent, as I’ll explain.


Bohm is very worried about what is happening to our society as expressed in ‘Thought as a System’ (kind of like a system that is running away with us, as Emerson and others have also suggested).   How is this allegedly happening?


In Bohm’s terms, we are capable of ‘intelligence’ and also ‘reason’ and he makes clear that the latter is a reduction of the former, and in the language I employ, intelligence would be  the building of intuitive understanding in terms of TRANSFORMATION while reason would be the building of intellectual reasoning on the basis of binary logic which reduces TRANSFORMATION which is INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT to that which is EFFABLE-because-LOCAL-and-EXPLICIT.  For example our experience of trekking through the sand dunes is something we could understand in terms of the split apart inhabitant that is moving through the habitat conceptualization where FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-TWO, … or we could imagine ourselves as a fluid form in the flow (where FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-ONE) as in the ‘Wave-field’ view of modern physics.  To a great extent, how we think of ourselves relative to the world we are in is influenced by our language usage.


Bohm’s concern, and Nietzsche’s (using this FIGURE-and-GROUND topology) is that because we are in the habit of REDUCING our INEFFABLE FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE sensory experience as relational forms in the Wave-field, to EFFABLE FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO terms as LOCAL material beings moving about in a space that we understand as an INDEPENDENT HABITAT that we, the INHABITANTS, move about and interact in, and of course, we have languages that can do a good job of EFFABLE-zing such representation.


On the other hand, the sort of language to even allude to the ineffable transforming relational continuum is quite different as we then have to avoid OBJECTIFYING ANYTHING, and, as modern physics had to do, and Wittgenstein, Emerson et al, … develop a means of language-based articulation which did NOT ‘concretize’ or ‘objectify’ the relational forms in the flow, as happens when we go with the WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENT scheme of NAMING and GRAMMAR, which Nietzsche has pointed out is a DOUBLE ERROR, the first error of NAMING imputing notional (abstract) thing-in-itself-existence to the relational flow-form that is NAMED, and the second, conflating error is GRAMMAR that notionally endows the NAMING-instantiated thing-in-itself with ‘its own powers of LOCAL SOURCING of actions and development’.


Clearly, this DOUBLE ERROR schema, which is an intellectual abstraction constructing schema, equips us for developing an ARTIFICIAL WORLD featuring notional LOCAL THINGS-IN-THEMSELVES with their own NOTIONAL powers of SOURCING actions and developments.


This is what Bohm calls the ‘rational’ view which is an abstraction based REDUCTION of our intelligence based understanding of reality.  This rational view is very usefull since it is an EFFABLE-because-LOCAL-and-EXPLICIT intellectual abstraction of the INEFFABLE-because-NOLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT fluid reality of our actual sensory experience.  For example, if we are in the desert where, due to all of the various influences of the universe including gravitational and thermal fields and the like, … we find ourselves included within this transforming relational continuum that manifests as resonance based sand-duning and all that goes with that, like sun and wind and erosion and sedimentary deposition and so much more that makes our sensory experience of inclusion therein INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT, for us to garner the utility of being able to articulate some shareable semblance of what is going on here; i.e. to come up with a REDEDUCED—to-EFFABLE articulation of sorts, … the DOUBLE ERROR REDUCTION technique turns out to be very useful because it shifts the SOURCING of what is going on from relational TRANSFORMATION a la the Wave-field which is INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT, … to LOCAL SOURCING deriving from notional LOCAL SOURCING AGENTS that we can create (as intellectual abstraction) with the DOUBLE ERROR of language and grammar; e.g. ‘THE DUNE’ is growing larger and longer and is shifting towards the coast’.    Now we have something LOCAL and EXPLICIT to depict the dynamics of nature we are included in, which lifts out relational forms, converts them to notional (abstract) local things-in-themselves and uses GRAMMAR to impute to them ‘their own’ (notional) powers of sourcing actions and development.


We just reduced NONLOCAL relational transformation (Wave-field dynamics) to language based abstractions featuring LOCAL thing-in-itself BEINGS (DUNES) with ‘their own’ (GRAMMAR-GIVEN) powers of locally sourcing actions and development.  This becomes a surrogate reality that supplants the ‘real reality’ of our sensory experience of inclusion in the transforming relational continuum.


Now we are in the ‘land of reason’ which is an abstract imaginary land which is very useful for sharing a crude, reduced representation of our actual sensory experience of inclusion in the transforming relational continuum.


Bohm’s point, and Nietzsche’s is that this REASON-based REDUCTION of reality has been (in Emerson’s words) “running away with the workman, the human with the divine”  In other words, sure, it is great to be able to ‘have language’ that allows to share our experiences, EVEN IF ONLY IN A VERY CRUDE RATIO-BASED DEPICTION.   For example, once we reduce the resonance based transformation that is DUNING to local DUNE things-in-themselves, and have to manage, with language and grammar, “THEIR” development and “THEIR” movement (there is no such thing in the resonance-based Wave-field reality), what is happening to us is that we fall into the trap of believing in our own reductive constructions, our own ‘reason’ based representations which we came up with to do an ‘end run’ to get around the INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT Wave-field reality.


REASON aka RATIO-NALITY lets me say; ‘the DUNE is growing higher and longer and is shifting across the ‘desert floor’.  This is all ‘made-up abstraction’, what is really going on is TRANSFORMATION associated with Wave-field resonance.


Bohm’s concern, and Nietzsche’s, is that this tool of REASON or RATIO-NALITY is running away with us and redefining who we are, making us out to be LOCAL things-in-ourselves with notional LOCAL powers of SOURCING actions and evelopments.  That’s what Nietzsche calls ‘the DOUBLE ERROR’ of NAMING and GRAMMAR, while Bohm sticks to the two terms ‘rationality’ and ‘intelligence’, pointing out in ‘Thought as a System’ that our ‘rational thinking’ is having us understand ourselves as ‘rational being’ living in an EFFABLE-because-LOCAL-and-EXPLICIT material reality.  THAT’S NOT RIGHT!  We are relational inclusions in THE transforming relational continuum aka the Wave-field aka the Tao.


As Emerson puts it; ‘the tool [of effable-izing aka rendering ‘local-end-explicit’ the ineffable-because-nonlocal-and-implicit] is running away with the workman, the human with the divine’.


As a ‘throw away reductive sharing device’, this approach called ‘reason’ is great, but as a substitute for the ineffable sensory experience of inclusion in the Wave-field, it is a disaster.  We need to listen to Wittgenstein and use ‘reason’ as a throw-away tool of inference.


6.54 My propositions are elucidatory in this way: he who understands me finally recognizes them as senseless, when he has climbed out through them, on them, over them. (He must so to speak throw away the ladder, after he has climbed up on it.)

He must surmount these propositions; then he sees the world rightly.

7.0 Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent. (“Wovon man nicht sprechen kann, darüber muss man schweigen”),

That’s the story that I am getting from reading more of Bohm’s writings, as suggested by Howard.  In other words, ‘reason’ or ‘ratio-nality’ is at throw-away tool that can only infer what our intelligence is informing us of, which is INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT as the nature of the all-including Wave-field aka the Tao.


If we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS compare ourselves to indigenous aboriginal culture, Taoism/Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta adherents, if we were all living in the bush together, we could be a pretty good mix, … but when we ‘move to the city’ where ‘organization’ sprouts up and takes over, .. it is going to sprout up very differently for those of the EAST and those of us of the WEST, because we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS have the habit of pushing ‘rationality’ as the primary operating principle in our social relational dynamic, when a lot of us gather together in one place.  In this case, ‘rationality’ becomes our primary operating principle and subsumes the role of intelligence.  This is turning out to be a disaster, as is Bohm’s major point in ‘Thought as a System’.

-1-  The basic problem that Bohm sees, and Nietzsche, is the inverting of the natural primacy of intelligence over intellect.  Intellect wants to reduce everything to LOCAL SOURCING  which is useful so long as we do not let it pre-empt our intelligence.  LOCAL SOURCING, as Nietzsche points out, is intellectually contrived by way of the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR.


David Bohm: “Let’s say we have a nation. Nations were produced by thought. They don’t arise naturally. If you cross from one country to another there’s no big change at the border. The border is an abstraction. Even if you make a fence there it is the result of abstraction. But now you say there’s a serious difference between the people and the two sides. They may start to talk differently and to behave differently and it builds up a whole set of different reflexes which they say is us. Inside the country they say we’re all one, but we ignore the fact that we’re not. There’s just as much disunity inside the country as between the countries. So thought is making two mistakes. One is to make a false division based on a wrong abstraction and also a false unification. The point is that this nation has been given great value. It’s very important and a lot of things now depend on it. People say that if this nation is attacked, it’s the same as if I were attacked. So the thought is identified with yourself.”


David Bohm: I’d say that intelligence is basically one faculty, the same in every area. Not merely intellect but also art, perception, action and it acts creatively through free play. This creative intelligence has to permeate life in general, whereas intellect should come out as the special case. We need it in certain cases. Intelligence should be able to use intellect, but it won’t work the other way. Intellect cannot control and use intelligence. This intelligence is present as much in the work of the artist as in the work of a scientist or person who writes a book or sets up a practical industry. Whatever you’re doing, we need this intelligence. It has one universal origin, which branches out into different areas. It’s only in so far as you apply the intellect that you’ll get this branching out. Intellect creates the divisions, which may have some relevance up to a point. But even then, in these divisions intelligence must be the primary movement, which makes use of the structures of the intellect.


-2- RATIO and GROWTH are abstract concepts based on the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR that WE WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS apply to our children, our village, our business that falls in the category of RATIONALITY.  In using these abstract concepts we remove the abstract NAMED FORMS from the reality of the TRANSFORMING RELATIONAL CONTINUUM and ‘set them up’ as if they were ‘local, independently-existing things-in-themselves.   NAMING thus establishes the abstract concept of LOCAL THING-IN-ITSELF EXISTENCE.  This is an ERROR.  It is the FIRST ERROR in what Nietzsche refers to as the DOUBLE ERROR.  The second ERROR is GRAMMAR which imputes LOCAL JUMPSTART SOURCING of actions and development to the NAMING instantiated thing-in-itself (the FIRST ERROR).

This DOUBLE ERROR thus sets up the RATIO based underpinnings of WESTERN CULTURE RATIONAL CONCEPTUALIZATION.  We NAME the ‘town’, miking it out to be a local thing-in-itself (it is in reality a feature within the relationally transforming landscape) and then we conflate the NAMING-imputing of LOCAL EXISTENCE with GRAMMAR to deliver the notional LOCAL SOURCING POWER of GROWTH to the NAMING-instantiated THING-IN-ITSELF.   Hence ‘THE TOWN IS GROWING LARGER and its PRODUCTIVE capabilities have increased’ is a language-based PICTURE that supersedes, in WESTERN CULTURE, our understanding in terms of relational TRANSFORMATION of the landscape in which TOWNING manifests, WITHIN THE TRANSFORMATION, and the town is NOT BORN as a LOCAL THING-IN-ITSELF, even if its residents did give CHRISTEN IT with a NAME-giving ceremony.

BIRTH and GROWTH are DOUBLE ERROR based intellectual abstractions that we impose on emergent relational features within the transforming relational continuum aka the Wave-field aka the Tao.  To use such reductive, rational abstractions as an operative SUBSTITUTE for relational transformation is a CRAZY-MAKER that is increasingly defining WESTERN CULTURE.  That is, as Bohm points out; “his creative intelligence has to permeate life in general, whereas intellect should come out as the special case. 

For example, our ‘rational intellection’ lets us REDUCE relational TRANSFORMATION in the simplistic terms of GROWTH, and this has been leading us WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS into constructing an imaginary reality based on the RATIO-based abstraction of GROWTH (of NAMING-instantiated things-in-themselves) removing from our active understanding, our natural creative intelligence which locks into an understanding of our inclusion in transforming relational continuum aka the Wave-field aka the Tao.  This is recipe for dysfunction as we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENT pursue the GROWTH of our town or business or national production etc. when THE OPERATIVE REALITY, OR ‘WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON’, IS “TRANSFORMATION” and we are included in it.  COVID19 is also included in this transforming relational continuum; i.e.  neither humans nor pathogens are exist separately from the TRANSFORMATION.  It is only the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR that makes it seem so.  WESTERN MEDICINE, POLITICS and REALITY CONSTRUCTION has steadily been shifting towards the RATIONAL (REASON) and away from the INTELLIGENT (INTUITIVE).

HISTORY tells of “THE RISE AND FALL OF THE THIRD REICH” although there was NOT REALLY a ‘LOCAL thing-in-itself’ (GERMANY) experiencing GROWTH and DECLINE’, but TRANSFORMATION of the complex relational continuum, which is INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT  (it is ABSTRACTION to use the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR to, for example, lift the hurricane out of the atmospheric flow and impute FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO status and with it a basic ambiguity (bipolar disorder) wherein people divide on the imaginary issue of whether the dynamics of the FIGURE-sources-changes to  the GROUND or whether the dynamics of the GROUND sources changes to the FIGURE.   [THERE IS NO “SOURCING” in TRANSFORMATION”] .

We make the same DOUBLE ERROR in reducing INTELLIGENCE to REASON, and in the FABRICATION we call HISTORY where we compose abstract stories featuring heroic or villainous ‘things-in-themselves’ [individuals, nations, corporations], notionally with their own powers of sourcing actions and developments.  We WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS teach HISTORY to our children, along with GROWTH and DECLINE as if it provided LESSONS for how to conduct ourselves ‘in the FUTURE’, however, HISTORY is a convenient ‘effable-izing’ ABSTRACTION based on the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR and if made into a popular SUBSTITUTE REALITY rather than understood as a CONVENIENT EFFABLE-IZING ABSTRACTION, can infuse DELUSION into the dynamics of the social collective.  The REALITY of our sensory experience is of inclusion in relational TRANSFORMATION while HISTORY is a RATIONALIZATION of TRANSFORMATION; i.e. HISTORY is what we INVENT by REPLACING TRANSFORMATION with a dimensionally reduced (‘dumbed down’) SURROGATE based on NAMING-instantiated-LOCAL things-in-themselves which GRAMMAR sets in motion to create in our language-stimulated intellect, the illusion of GROWTH and DEVELOPMENT over TIME.

EXAMPLE: The ‘TOWN’ that ‘GROWS’ (spatially) over ‘TIME’ serves as NAMING-and-GRAMMAR triggered psychological REALITY-REPLACEMENT for TRANSFORMATION of the overall landscape.   This FOREGROUND visual (picturable) impression relegates to the ‘unlit background of the psyche’, … the REALITY of an all-including TRANSFORMATION. Visualization impresses the psyche with foreground FIGURES we are in the habit of applying the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR to, … so as to remove them, psychologically, from the transforming relational continuum and ‘set them up’ AS IF ON THEIR OWN, as LOCAL things-in-themselves with their own (GRAMMAR-given) powers of LOCAL SOURCING of actions and developments.

That is, ‘the “TOWN” that “GROWS’ over “TIME” is the common sort of abstraction that we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS refer to as HISTORY.’   The HISTORY of towns and countries and peoples and whatever other LOCAL BEING-based pseudo-realities we may want to invent, gives us a means of EFFABLE-IZING a REDUCTION of the INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT TRANSFORMING RELATIONAL CONTINUUM.  The REDUCTION delivers an UNREAL but EFFABLE-because-LOCAL-and-EXPLICIT recasting of the INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT REALITY.

GROWTH (spatially) OVER TIME, as in the case of ‘the country that grows’ or the ‘dune’ or ‘hurricane’ that grows, is a conceptual abstraction that allows us to reduce the REAL REALITY of TRANSFORMATION which is INEFFABLE to something EFFABLE-because-LOCAL-and-EXPLICIT.  This is the RATIO-NAL reduction of TRANSFORMATION experienced by our INTELLIGENCE; i.e. it is a reduction of intelligence to ratio-based understanding.  HISTORY allows us to abstractly BREAK APART the ineffable-all-including transforming relational continuum and RE-PRESENT it (i.e. NOT “IT” but an EFFABLE SURROGATE which now presents as something LOCAL and with its own powers of SOURCING actions and developments (the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR).  PROBLEM! This DOUBLE ERROR based imputing to the ‘TOWN’, its own powers of GROWTH and DEVELOPMENT, has us psychologically splitting off a piece of the transforming landscape (a feature in the flow) by NAMING it ‘the TOWN’ and compounding this ERROR (in reality there is no local TOWN-thing-in-itself) with GRAMMAR wherein we impute to the TOWN-thing-in-itself, its own powers of SOURCING GROWTH and DEVELOPMENT over TIME and thus ‘its own HISTORY’.   But the GROWING TOWN is a DOUBLE ERROR based figment of the imagination since our sensory-experience-grounded reality is the overall TRANSFORMATION within which the emergence of relational features such as the TOWN are in a FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE relation.  GROWTH of the TOWN, or GROWTH of any LOCAL THING-IN-ITSELF serves to sidestep the INEFFABILITY of the “everywhere-at-the-same-time’ quality of TRANSFORMATION as in the Wave-field (the Tao).  Our INTELLIGENCE informs us of the innate ambiguity where by insisting on the REALITY of the GROWTH of the TOWN, we create a PHANTOM SHRINKING of the SHRINKAGE of the Wilderness which will, in reality, catch us up, and force us to admit that GROWTH is unreal abstraction.
