The Holy Trinity vis a vis The George Floyd-Derek Chauvin Affair

Easter Sunday: April 4th, 2021

Modern physics is to Newtonian physics like the Holy Trinity is to the BINARY LOGIC of GOOD and EVIL.  Throughout history, people have been divided on this issue of ‘The TWO and the ONE’ as discussed in Mircea Eliade’s anthropological book dedicated to this topic, ‘Mephistopheles et l’Androgyne’ ‘(the Engish title is ‘the Two and the One’).

The story is this; we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS adopted BINARY LOGIC as the basis for our REASONING (aka ‘ratio-nal language-based thinking) because IT SIMPLIFIES REALITY, making it possible to formulate language based representations in relatively few words, whereas, the reality of our sense-experience of inclusion in the transforming relational continuum cannot be captured in a finite number of words because ‘everything is in continuing flux’.

We WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS, …. BUT NOT INDIGENOUS ABORIGINALS, TAOISTS/BUDDHISTS and ADVAITA VEDANTA ADHERENTS, … adopted BINARY LOGIC (EITHER ‘IS’ OR ‘IS NOT’) as the basis for formulating linguistic representations of reality, … BECAUSE IT SIMPLIFIES THE TASK OF FORMULATING REPRESENTATIONS of “REALITY”.  This “SIMPLIFIED REALITY” is thus a “SUBSTITUTE REALITY” which is no longer “REALITY” but something that we can put into language-based expression and thus exploit the ‘understanding-sharing’ capabilities of language.

The story of WESTERN CULTURE includes the story of SCREW-UPS resulting from the SIMPLIFICATIONS OF REALITY introduced by REASONING aka RATIO-NALITY made possible by our employing of the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR.  This brings us to the issue of THE HOLY TRINITY because in SIMPLIFYING our language by the use of BINARY LOGIC (figure-and-ground as TWO) REASON, we lose our psychological grasp of the QUANTUM LOGIC (figure-and-ground-as-ONE) of SENSE-EXPERIENCE REALITY.   We SELL OUT in a kind of Mephistophelian deal where we get the SIMPLIFICATION delivered by BINARY LOGIC based REASON and PAY THE PRICE by sacrificing our grip on REAL SENSE-EXPERIENCE REALITY.

For example, it is SIMPLER to split relational TRANSFORMATION (which eludes capture in language by its being NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT) into MALE and FEMALE parts as, for example, in ‘The HURRICANE is sourcing the assertive stirring up of the ATMOSPHERE’ and/or ‘The ATMOSPHERE is sourcing the inductive stirring up of the HURRICANE’.  This is, in essence, the split that separates CONSERVATIVES and LIBERALS into two POLAR opposing camps.

This only happens in our WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENCE because there is no such splitting going on in flow-based language using societies since in a fluid dynamic, FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-ONE (as ‘boil’ and ‘flow’ in river current are ‘one’) and we say instead, ‘there is HURRICANING in the ATMOSPHERE’.  In this case, the HURRICANE and the ATMOSPHERE are NOT TWO SEPARATE AND INDEPENDENT THINGS-IN-THEMSELVES, the TWO are only ONE as is the understanding embraced by the ‘EAST’; i.e. the indigenous aboriginal culture, Taoism/Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta and the AMBIGUITY DOES NOT ARISE AS IT DOES IN THE WEST because the HURRICANING is a property of the ATMOSPHERING wherein the whole lot is part of the continuing fluid reality (the transforming relational continuum).

NOTA BENE:  Kipling’s  “EAST IS EAST AND WEST IS WEST AND NEVER THE TWAIN SHALL MEET” stems from this CULTURE-DEFINING-CHOICE wherein the EAST opts for FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE where the FIGURE is assumed to be a development WITHIN THE GROUND while the WEST opts for FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO such that the FIGURE is viewed as being INDEPENDENT of the GROUND.  Modern physics reaffirms THE EAST’s understanding of FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE where there is HURRICANING in the ATMOSPHERE and NOT “A HURRICANE THING-IN-ITSELF’ that is GROWING-on-its-OWN and ‘MOVING THROUGH THE ATMOSPHERE’ as if the ATMOSPHERE were as passive containing space that the MALE HURRICANE was ‘steamrolling its way through’.  BUT WAIT A MINUTE, the splitting into TWO also liberates, in the psyche, the conjugate option of the ATMOSPHERE as authoring the inductive stirring up of the HURRICANE, so that once we opt for the BINARY LOGIC SPLIT of FIGURE-and-GROUND-into TWO, we serve ourselves up TWO AMBIGUOUS REALITY OPTIONS; the MALE option where the HURRICANE assertively stirs up the ATMOSPHERE and the FEMALE option where the ATMOSPHERE inductively stirs up the HURRICANE.

THERE IS NO SUCH AMBIGUITY in the EAST’S option (which is Modern physics supported) where FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-ONE and the TWO-NESS is APPEARANCE.   The topology associated with the FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE dynamic is TRANSFORMATION, so that while EAST understands reality as FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE TRANSFORMATION, the WEST understands reality in terms of ONE OF TWO AMBIGUOUS SUBSTITUTE REALITIES; a MALE reality wherein the FIGURE is assertively authoring the stirring up of the GROUND, and a FEMALE reality wherein the GROUND is inductively authoring the stirring up of the FIGURE.  This unreal language-stimulated duplicity polarizes WESTERN CULTURE society into opposing camps, a conservative camp believing in LOCAL AUTHORING in a male-assertive (individual-influencing-collective) sense, and a liberal camp believing in LOCAL AUTHORING in a female-inductive (collective-influencing-individual) sense.  BY CONTRAST, THERE IS NO SUCH POLARIZING DIVISION within the EAST culture because THERE IS NO “LOCAL AUTHORING” in TRANSFORMATION.  TRANSFORMATION is NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT and is affirmed by Modern physics and the Wave-field dynamic.

To tie this back to the title topic The Holy Trinity vis a vis The George Floyd-Derek Chauvin Affair we have the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR in operative effect in the WEST and this is what sets up the ABSTRACT NOTION of LOCAL AUTHORING of actions and developments, which plays a DEFINING ROLE in our WESTERN SYSTEM OF JUSTICE.  Whereas, in the EAST, the conflict manifesting between Floyd and Chauvin would be understood as INSEPARABLE from the social relational dynamic in which they are included, which is why RESTORATIVE justice is operative in the EAST; i.e. a system of JUSTICE that sees no way of isolating an AUTHOR of a conflict or injury, orienting instead to the RESTORING of social harmony though the ‘HEALING CIRCLE’ and similar harmonious relational restoring undertakings involving the community as a whole.

IN THE EAST, THERE IS NO ATTEMPT TO ISOLATE AN “AUTHOR” OF A CONFLICT AND TO SEE THE REMEDY IN TERMS OF THE REMOVAL OF THE AUTHOR.   IN THIS, THE EAST HAVE MODERN PHYSICS ON THEIR SIDE FOR THERE IS NO SUCH THING IN SENSE-EXPERIENCE REALITY AS A LOCAL “AUTHOR” OF ACTIONS OF DEVELOPMENTS, THAT IS SOMETHING UNIQUE TO WESTERN CULTURE AND IT COMES FROM WESTERN LANGUAGE; I.E. FROM THE DOUBLE ERROR OF NAMING AND GRAMMAR.

NOTA BENE:  Justice in the indigenous aboriginal culture, in the EAST, is supported by the SAME LOGIC (NOT BINARY LOGIC) as employed in Modern physics; i.e. the “Quantum BOTH/AND logic of the INCLUDED medium.  This is logic wherein FIGURE-and-GROUND are ONE; e.g. the HURRICANE and ATMOSPHERE are ONE and in relational languages which are based on FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE, we would speak in the verb-based (flow-based) terms where “there is HURRICANING in the ATMOSPHERING” which preserves the ONE-ness of the Wave-field reality.  Note that in the WESTERN SUBSTITUTE REALITY we have to INVENT an EMPTY and INFINITE CONTAINING GROUND to accommodate our imputing of LOCAL THING-ITSELF EXISTENCE to the FIGURE so as to be able to portray the FIGURE as AUTHORING its own MOVEMENT and DEVELOPMENT, INDEPENDENT of its ‘CONTAINING SPACE’.  The EAST MAKES NO SUCH BINARY LOGICAL DIVISION into FIGURE-and-GROUND as TWO spearate ontologies

But once we use language to impute FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO, questions of ambiguity arise.

SO, does the HURRICANE AUTHOR the stirring up of the ATMOSPHERE or does the ATMOSPHERE AUTHOR the stirring up of the HURRICANE?

EAST’s ANSWER: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS “AUTHORING” OF ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS IN THE REAL WORLD OF OUR SENSE EXPERIENCE, THERE IS ONLY RELATIONAL TRANSFORMATION.  EVERYTHING IS INCLUDED IN THE TRANSFORMING RELATIONAL CONTINUUM AKA THE ‘WAVE-FIELD’ AKA ‘THE TAO’.

IN THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE EAST AS  ALSO MODERN PHYSICS, BOTH GEORGE FLOYD AND DEREK CHAUVIN ARE INCLUDED IN THE ONE TRANSFORMING RELATIONAL CONTINUUM WHERE THERE ARE NO ‘THINGS-IN-THEMSELVES’ WITH THEIR OWN POWERS OF AUTHORING ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS, … although we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS are SO ACCUSTOMED to using language which employs the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR abstractions that impute LOCAL AUTHORING POWERS to notional NAMING-instantiated FIGURES with GRAMMAR-given powers of AUTHORING actions and developments.

The WESTERN CULTURE conservative opts for belief in LOCAL AUTHORING which is male-assertive as FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO (the individual assertively directs the social collective)

The WESTERN CULTURE liberal opts for belief in LOCAL AUTHORING which is social-collective-inductive as in FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO (the collective inductively directs the individual)

The EASTERN CULTURE adherent opts for belief in NO LOCAL AUTHORING but inclusion, as relational forms, in the transforming relational continuum wherein FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-ONE.

NOTA BENE: the first two WESTERN ‘realities’ are BINARY LOGIC based (FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO based) with the EASTERN and Modern physics reality is NON-BINARY, QUANTUM LOGIC based (FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE based wherein we can only move towards overall social collective harmony and away from social collective dissonance.  Imagine flying in formation.  Since movement is innately relative in space, shortfalls in achieving and sustaining a persisting motive resonance aka ‘formation’ can only be attributed to the group as a whole and not to any individual participant as would imply ‘independence’ of movement).   NO WONDER, THEN, THAT EASTERN JUSTICE (wherein mitakuye oyasin affirms that everything is related) ORIENTS TO CULTIVATING AND SUSTAINING RELATIONAL HARMONY  while WESTERN JUSTICE (one’s behaviour is deemed INDEPENDENT and is judged EITHER CORRECT OR INCORRECT) orients to PURIFICATION, the eliminating of INCORRECT behaviours so as to move the social collective in the direction of everyone employing CORRECT behavour.

In the above NOTA BENE note, it is recounted that in the EAST, it is impossible to JUDGE the behaviour of AN  INDIVIDUAL since the concept of INDIVIDUAL AUTHORING of actions and development is UNREAL ABSTRACTION given by the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR.  BY CONTRAST, WESTERN CULTURE PURIFICATIONISM is where the social collective orients to ELMINATING INCORRECT BEHAVIOURS in the social collective so that the dynamic of the social collective moves towards FULLY CORRECT BEHAVIOURS; i.e. where EVERY INDEPENDENT INDIVIDUAL WITHIN THE SOCIAL COLLECTIVE is avoiding INCORRECT BEHAVIOUR.

The GOAL in this case (the case of WESTERN CULTURE) of everyone AUTHORING CORRECT social-relational behaviours is supported by PURIFICATION processes wherein those behaviour deemed CORRECT are REWARDED and PUBLICLY CELEBRATED while those behavours deemed INCORRECT are PUNISHED and ELIMINATED either by eliminating the AUTHORS of those incorrect behaviours or by eliminating the AUTHORING of those incorrect behaviours.  This BINARY LOGIC based PURIFICATIONIST PROCESS moves the social collective progressively forward towards a fully CORRECTLY BEHAVING social collective.  This approach of ‘perfecting each independent individual’ derives from first making the BINARY LOGIC based assumption of the INDEPENDENTLY EXISTING INDIVIDUAL, an abstraction that is embraced by the WESTERN psyche (which understands FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO) but NOT by the EASTERN psyche (which understands FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE) since in the latter understanding ‘everything is related’ (mitakuye oyasin), as is affirmed also by Modern physics.

SISYPHUS SHOWS HIMSELF in this paradoxical quest for political CORRECTNESS on the part of all PURPORTEDLY “INDEPENDENT” INDIVIDUALS in the WESTERN CULTURE SOCIAL COLLECTIVE.  (Note that there are no ‘independent individuals’ in the EASTERN CULTURE SOCIAL COLLECTIVE where FIGURE and GROUND-as-ONE is the understanding (individual and social collective are ONE since everything [relational forms] is related within the all-including Wave-field).  What is SISYPHUSIAN about WESTERN CULTURE is that the WEST’s PURIFICATIONISM seeks to improve the overall social collective dynamic by REMOVING or ELIMINATING THE AUTHORS of INCORRECT BEHAVIOR when there is no such thing, in reality, as ‘AUTHORS’ period, there are only RELATIONS and relational forms in the transforming relational continuum. NOTE THAT the problem as seen in WESTERN society is the INCORRECT BEHAVIOUR in the sense where BEHAVIOUR is understand as something AUTHORED BY AN INDIVIDUAL, whereas the problem in EASTERN society is seen in terms of RELATIONAL DISSONANCE in the DYNAMIC OF THE SOCIAL COLLECTIVE which cannot be REDUCED (with or without the WESTERN ‘DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR’) to the abstract concept of LOCAL AUTHORING.

Thus in the EAST understanding of social dynamics as intrinsically RELATIONAL, there can only be relational harmony and relational dissonance and the remedy for relational dissonance is by such approaches as the HEALING CIRCLE of indigenous aboriginal culture and NOT by PURIFICATIONISM as is the WESTERN approach, because the latter is based on the DOUBLE ERROR FALSEHOOD of NAMING and GRAMMAR based LOCAL AUTHORING of actions and developments.  Once LOCAL AUTHORING is assumed as something ‘real’, social actions orienting to to PURIFICATIONISM rather than restoring RELATIONAL HARMONY are launched.

While in the WEST, the understanding of reality is NOT in terms of the TRANSFORMING RELATIONAL CONTINUUM but is instead in terms of LOCAL AUTHORING, the WESTERN CULTURE PURIFICATIONIST APPROACH, as is now underway in the trial of DEREK CHAUVIN allegedly for his AUTHORING of the death of GEORGE FLOYD.

In the EAST as in the indigenous aboriginal concept of JUSTICE, consistent with the Modern physics understanding of relational dynamics, the FLOYD-CHAUVIN affair would be pursued NOT by assuming LOCAL AUTHORING, but in terms of the all-including transforming relational continuum wherein the dynamics of the social collective are contributing to the sustaining of relational harmony and thus to the starving out of relational dissonance.  THERE IS NO ASSUMPTION OF LOCAL AUTHORING.

For example, our movements within the flow of freeway traffic can contribute to co-cultivating of harmony or the co-cultivating of dissonance, but INDIVIDUAL AUTHORSHIP is not possible as the dynamic of the social collective is innately relational.

It’s NOT that the languages of the EAST “LAUNDER OUT AUTHORSHIP’, … it is instead that the languages of the WEST INVENT AUTHORSHIP with the DOUBLE ERROR.   That is, we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS continue to formulate language based representations of a SUBSTITUTE REALITY based on LOCAL AUTHORING and we concoct such abstraction by means of the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR.

Why the title The Holy Trinity vis a vis The George Floyd-Derek Chauvin Affair?  At the bottom of the confusion which puts WESTERN conservatives in polar conflict with WESTERN liberals and puts WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS generally in conflict with the EAST, is the HOLY TRINITY which is implicit in  Eliade’s ‘Mephistopheles et l’Androgyne’ (English title ‘the TWO and the ONE’).   In nature, we have the HURRICANE and the ATMOSPHERE and if we are of a conservative political bent, we will say that the HURRICANE is assertively authoring the stirring up of the ATMOSPHERE and if we are of a liberal political bent, we will say that the ATMOSPHERE is inductively authoring a stirring up of the HURRICANE.  (One can substitute ‘individual’ and ‘social collective’ for ‘hurricane’ and ‘atmosphere’ to point out that the ubiquitous presence of this confusing ambiguity in WESTERN CULTURE discourse, which comes with the invoking of the LOCAL AUTHOR concept.

BUT NOW THAT WE”VE USED LANGUAGE TO SPLIT THE ONE-ness of relational TRANSFORMATION INTO TWO POLAR OPPOSITES, … WHAT’S MISSING?

EVIDENTLY THERE IS A “THIRD” player in this aka the SUN whose radiation permeates the space in which there are these TWO occupants that we are calling the HURRICANE and the ATMOSPHERE and we are now pre-occupied with arguing over whether the HURRICANE is stirring up the ATMOSPHERE or whether the ATMOSPHERE is stirring up the HURRICANE; i.e. this ARGUMENT is BINARY LOGIC based, but Modern physics would add a THIRD player to make it a HOLY TRINITY, that THIRD PLAYER being the WAVE-FIELD that includes the SOLAR ENERGY which ‘upstages’ BOTH of the other ‘TWO PLAYERS’, the HURRICANE dynamic and the ATMOSPHERIC dynamic.  The ENERGY WAVE-FIELD manifesting in part by the SUN is the NUMBER ONE PARTNER in the TRINITY of WAVE-FIELD, HURRICANE and ATMOSPHERE.  While HURRICANE and ATMOSPHERE are seen (i.e. ‘grammatically portrays’) as LOCAL AUTHORS of actions and developments, the WAVE-FIELD IS NONLOCAL AND IMPLICIT AND MANIFESTS AS TRANSFORMATION.

Our mind has all of these three reality options that we can use to understand the world dynamic.   When we include the THIRD component of the all-including WAVE-FIELD which is NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT, we have an understanding of dynamics in terms of TRANSFORMATION (i.e. TRANSFORMATION is NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT).   We also have the other TWO reality options; the Conservative option of LOCAL AUTHORING in a male-assertive fashion, and the Liberal option of LOCAL AUTHORING in a female-inductive fashion.  These three optional ‘realities’ as discussed by physicist Erich Jantsch in ‘Design for Evolution’ and they clearly lead to a divided population with respect to the conceptualizing of reality (WESTERN conservative reality based on MALE AUTHORSHIP, WESTERN liberal reality based on FEMALE AUTHORSHIP and EASTERN reality based on NO AUTHORSHIP, only TRANSFORMATION.

Because different folks embrace these different reality options we have disagreements.  The BIG BIFURCATION is between WEST and EAST where the WEST constructs reality in terms of LOCAL AUTHORS of actions and developments as implied by the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR which has us think in terms of FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO, while the EAST understands reality as the transforming relational continuum in which FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-ONE.

These are HOLY TRINITY variants which divide EAST and WEST and which further divide WEST into conservative and liberal.  Note that in the WEST, the DIVINITY is SEPARATED OUT of the trio leaving the Conservative and Liberal partitions (FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO) in a vacuum to fight their BINARY LOGICAL fight as stark (un-moderated by a common containing space) ontological opposites as in the EITHER/OR logic of the EXCLUDED medium.   Note also that in the EAST, the TRINITY is logically INCLUSIVE (FIGURE-and-GROUND_as-ONE) as requires the Quantum BOTH/AND logic of the INCLUDED medium of Modern physics.

* * * PART II –  WHERE THIS WESTERN CULTURE DOUBLE ERROR BASED PURIFICATIONIST “JUSTICE” SYSTEM IS TAKING US * * *

For us WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS, the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR establishes a BINARY LOGICAL foundation for REALITY, and BINARY LOGIC, while it SIMPLIFIES REALITY (which is why it became so popular in WESTERN CULTURE) , is the source of psychological polar splitting which, when it is in the WESTERN CULTURE social collective manifests as the conservative-liberal polarizing split, and which, when it is within the WESTERN CULTURE INDIVIDUAL, manifests as BIPOLAR DISORDER or SCHIZOPHRENIA.    David Bohm points out how

We WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS have pushed this FALSITY of the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR to great extremes for two good reasons.

REASON 1 EGO:  The double error of naming and grammar serves to put across the deception that attributes to an individual, nation or corporation AUTHORSHIP of actions and developments.   This is how, when actions and developments that are perceived as GOOD unfold, the question can be asked ‘who is responsible for this good result’, and we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS have agreed that we can put a NAME in there which makes everything CERTAIN in a kind of CASE CLOSED manner.

REASON 2 SCAPE-GOAT:  The nasty things that erupt in an effed up social collective have to be ‘openly admitted’ and ‘dealt with’.  WESTERN CULTURE social collectives are NOT WILLING to accept that nasty actions and developments derive from relational dissonance in the social collective, although this is the accepted understanding of indigenous aboriginal and EASTERN CULTURES..

WHY FOCUS ON DEREK CHAUVIN and GEORGE FLOYD as if the dynamics of REALITY were LOCALLY AUTHORED?

The reason WHY is because that is the ABSTRACTION that WESTERN EGO is based on and also the basis of WESTERN CULTURE ALLOCATIONS of REWARDS and PUNISHMENTS.

IS IT REALISTIC?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Why do we talk about MODERN PHYSICS as if it were capable of giving us a better understanding of reality than Newtonian physics, which we have come to understand is derived from simple WESTERN naming and grammar; i.e. the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR.  Nietzsche’s example of this fallacy was LIGHTNNG FLASHES but it could have been CHAUVIN KILLS or any other DOUBLE ERROR combination of NAMING and GRAMMAR.

Our judgement has us conclude that every change must have an author”;–but this conclusion is already mythology: it separates that which effects from the effecting. If I say “lightning flashes,” I have posited the flash once as an activity and a second time as a subject, and thus added to the event a being that is not one with the event but is rather fixed, “is” and does not “become.”–To regard an event as an “effecting,” and this as being, that is the double error, or interpretation, of which we are guilty.” – Nietzsche, ‘Will to Power’, 531

In EASTERN CULTURE language architecture, there is no DOUBLE ERROR usage.  Flashing is something that goes on within TRANSFORMATION as also, the actions of George Floyd and Eric Chauvin.

This “DOUBLE ERROR SPEAK” has much appeal in WESTERN CULTURE because it is where EGO comes from.  If we are going to use the DOUBLE ERROR to give credit for wonderful powers of AUTHORING good works, then, if this is how REALITY works, by way of LOCAL AUTHORING, then for us to be consistent, we must insist that BAD WORKS come about by LOCAL AUTHORING.

UNLIKE THE EAST, NO MATTER HOW DISSONANT AND DYSFUNCTIONAL OUR WESTERN CULTURE SOCIAL DYNAMIC BECOMES, WE WILL NOT STOP OUR SEARCHING FOR THE AUTHORS OF DISSONANCE SO THAT WE CAN ‘ELIMINATE’ THE perceived “AUTHORS”, AS IF THIS WILL ‘CURE THE PROBLEM’.

In the UNDERSTANDING of the EAST, as supported by Modern physics, social harmony and social dissonance are RELATIONAL phenomena and THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS LOCAL AUTHORING of actions and developments.  AUTHORING is an abstract concept deriving from the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR.

THAT IS, .. LOCAL AUTHORING IS TOTAL BULLSHIT.  We live in a transforming relational continuum, and as Bohm and others have pointed out, WESTERN CULTURE language architecture was designed for constructing representations that are SIMPLE and SIMPLE that is thanks to abstraction is NOT TRUE.  The abstracting power of binary logic can make complex phenomena UNREALISTICALLY SIMPLE.  That’s why Modern physics has to us non-binary ‘quantum’ logic in place of SIMPLE binary logic as Newtonian physics has done and Newtonian thinking continues to prevail in our WESTERN CULTURE REALITY CONSTRUCTIONS;

THANK YOU LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR, for allowing us to build REPRESENTATIONS featuring LOCALLY AUTHORED ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENT, such as the EARTH as the AUTHOR of its own TURNING ROUND.   Who among us WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS would challenge the proposition that ‘THE EARTH TURNS ROUND’?  It is one of those ‘habitual errors’ that are ‘locked in by high switching costs’.

As Modern physics shows, we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS are so accustomed to employing this DOUBLE ERROR based (LOCAL AUTHOR based) SUBSTITUTE REALITY that we no longer ‘blink an eye’ when we hear, or employ such DOUBLE ERROR propositions as ‘HE DID IT’ or ‘Lightning flashed’ since It is more convenient to suppose that HE DID IT since the LAWS OF WESTERN CUSTICE are expressible in a much simpler language.  CAN YOU IMAGINE GOING THROUGH THE HEALING CIRCLE PROCESS OF INDIGENOUS ABORIGINAL CULTURES WHERE JUSTICE ORIENTS TO “RESTORING SOCIAL HARMONY” AND NOT TO IDENTIFYING AND ELIMINATING A PURPORTED “AUTHOR” OF THE INJURIOUS ACTION?  This is nowhere near as SIMPLE as the DOUBLE ERROR approach and on top of that, there is no split into ‘the GUILTY’ and ‘the INNOCENT’ since the full social collective assumes responsibility for the ‘emergent dissonance’.

WE WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS have, … so far, … supported the SIMPLISTIC ‘DOUBLE ERROR’ based conceptualizing of JUSTICE and that’s NOT ONLY because it offers so much SIMPLICITY by identifying an AUTHOR of undesirable actions and developments, BUT ALSO because it offers that same SIMPLICITY in identifying an AUTHOR of desired actions and developments, and that does a lot for the EGOS (and pocket books) of those identified as AUTHORS of desirable actions and developments.

The DOUBLE ERROR based concept of AUTHOR of actions and developments is, in fact, a foundational principle in the WESTERN CONCEPT of an ECONOMY.   Of course, the abstract concept of LOCAL AUTHORING or LOCAL CONSTRUCTION is abstraction that takes our mind off the REAL REALITY of TRANSFORMATION and the ‘shrinkage of the Wilderness’ that is conjugate with the ‘CONSTRUCTION OF CITIES and INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENTS.

So long as we have an ECONOMY that orients to GROWTH we will continue to suffer by ignoring the conjugate SHRINKAGE of Wilderness and THUS IGNORING THE SENSE-EXPERIENCE REALITY OF INCLUSION IN TRANSFORMATION which comprehends both conjugates, the GROWTH of the ECONOMY and the conjugate SHRINKAGE of the Wilderness (the non-renewable resource).

The PATTERN here is clear.  WE WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS PORTRAY GEORGE FLOYD and DEREK CHAUVIN with DOUBLE ERROR powers of LOCAL AUTHORING of actions and developments.  The ‘REST OF THE COMMUNITY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT’.

The FLOYD -CHAUVIN trial is a distraction from the real issue of abstract SIMPLIFICATION of reality.

WE KNOW WHO THE ‘AUTHOR’ is in both cases, the ‘AUTHOR’ is the social collective.

But just as we simplified things in the of saying that ‘THE EARTH TURNS ROUND’, … and imputing  AUTHORSHIP to the EARTH of ITS OWN MOVEMENT with the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR as in …  ‘the EARTH is TURNING’, ….

The structure of WESTERN CULTURE language is the source of the reductive SIMPLIFICATION by means of the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR.   IT IS A CRAZY-MAKER as Bohm points out;

  1 FRAGMENTATION AND WHOLENESS  (from Wholeness and the Implicate Order by David Bohm)

The title of this chapter is ‘Fragmentation and wholeness’. It is especially important to consider this question today, for fragmentation is now very widespread, not only throughout society, but also in each individual; and this is leading to a kind of general confusion of the mind, which creates an endless series of problems and interferes with our clarity of perception so seriously as to prevent us from being able to solve most of them.

Thus art, science, technology, and human work in general, are divided up into specialities, each considered to be separate in essence from the others. Becoming dissatisfied with this state of affairs, men have set up further interdisciplinary subjects, which were intended to unite these specialities, but these new subjects have ultimately served mainly to add further separate fragments. Then, society as a whole has developed in such a way that it is broken up into separate nations and different religious, political, economic, racial groups, etc. Man’s natural environment has correspondingly been seen as an aggregate of separately existent parts, to be exploited by different groups of people. Similarly, each individual human being has been fragmented into a large number of separate and conflicting compartments, according to his different desires, aims, ambitions, loyalties, psychological characteristics, etc., to such an extent that it is generally accepted that some degree of neurosis is inevitable, while many individuals going beyond the ‘normal’ limits of fragmentation are classified as paranoid, schizoid, psychotic, etc

In the wake of the death of George Floyd, some people close to the scene are feeling sorry for not having done more to help him, and the young man who ‘blew the whistle’ on Floyd for his failed attempt at theft (passing counterfeit money) feels guilty for having ‘turned him in’ to the police.

This brings up a major difference between EASTERN and WESTERN cultures.  In the EAST, the cultural mode of understanding dissonant events aligns with Modern physics, and David Bohm describes how this plays out;

“Bohm felt that an effect could have an infinite number of causes. For example, if you asked someone what caused Abraham Lincoln’s death, they might answer that it was the bullet in John Wilkes Booth’s gun. But a complete list of all the causes that contributed to Lincoln’s death would have to include all of the events that led to the development of the gun, all of the factors that caused Booth to want to kill Lincoln, all of the steps in the evolution of the human race that allowed for the development of a hand capable of holding a gun, and so on, and so on. Bohm conceded that most of the time one could ignore the vast cascade of causes that had led to any given effect, but he still felt it was important for scientists to remember that no single cause-and-effect relationship was ever really separate from the universe as a whole.” – Michael Talbot, ‘The Holographic Universe’.

As also in the indigenous aboriginal ‘healing circle’, social-relational dissonance, including theft, murder and rape is understood in terms of dissonance in the social-relational community dynamic, and the ‘healing circle’ is the response.  Bohm acknowledges the appropriateness of this ‘restorative justice’ approach since IN REALITY, there is no such thing as a LOCAL AUTHOR of an event (we live within a transforming relational continuum wherein ‘everything is in flux’.

RESTORATIVE JUSTICE is where the community sees its own social-relational dynamic as the NONLOCAL AUTHOR of unfolding events such as theft, murder, rape.

Modern physics exposes the fact that traditional WESTERN JUSTICE and WESTERN DYNAMICS in general have been based on the DOUBLE ERROR ABSTRACTION of NAMING and GRAMMAR.  This abstraction supports a SUBSTITUTE REALITY wherein we can ‘get to the bottom of things’ very quickly, by way of the DOUBLE ERROR which synthetically LOCALIZES the NONLOCAL as with ‘lightning flashes’ or ‘murderers kill’

Our judgement has us conclude that every change must have an author”;–but this conclusion is already mythology: it separates that which effects from the effecting. If I say “lightning flashes,” I have posited the flash once as an activity and a second time as a subject, and thus added to the event a being that is not one with the event but is rather fixed, “is” and does not “become.”–To regard an event as an “effecting,” and this as being, that is the double error, or interpretation, of which we are guilty.” – Nietzsche, ‘Will to Power’, 531

In the indigenous aboriginal understanding, as in Modern physics, THERE IS  NO LOCAL AUTHOR of actions and developments because, in reality, we share inclusion in a transforming relational continuum.   Lincoln’s death was a relational development within the transforming relational death that derived from many different factors coming together.   WE WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS are accustomed to THINKING that reduces complex reality to in the abstract terms of the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR; e.g. Derek Chauvin killed George Floyd.

We WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS do not seem likely to alter course in regard to such over-simplified language-based abstracting of reality which renders the entire social relational dynamic INNOCENT and one man GUILTY of AUTHORING dissonance which has in reality many contributing influences.

Not only do indigenous aboriginal cultures and the EAST in general orient to restorative justice which (a) assumes that social dissonance as manifests in a murder-rape-or-theft, rather than being AUTHORED by the individual ‘lightning rod’ that is ‘holding the smoking gun’, is rooted in the social-relational community dynamic.  The response is therefore by the community gathering together in a healing circle to institute measures that will remove tensions leading to violent outbreaks.

The WESTERN CULTURE ASSUMPTION that the community is without fault and there is just ONE independent individual perpetrator responsible for an act of violence is entirely unrealistic and JUSTICE aimed at purifying the innocent community of ‘evil-doers’ is equally unrealistic; i.e. it is attacking the RESULT of the problem (imbalance) while claiming to attack the SOURCE.  This does nothing to address the source of relational imbalance.

The U.S. penal population of 2.2 million adults is by far the largest in the world. ”Just under one-quarter of the world’s prisoners are held in American prisons. The U.S. rate of incarceration, with nearly 1 out of every 100 adults in prison or jail, is 5 to 10 times higher than the rates in Western Europe and other democracies.  — The Growth of Incarceration in the United States 

It is not that other WESTERN NATIONS are not in the same boat, it is just that the belief  in the abstract concept of INDIVIDUAL AUTHORSHIP is extremely highly developed in the U.S.  This situation derives from the PRIDE in AUTHORING achievements that WESTERN CULTURE credits to an INDIVIDUAL which, while not realistic, is the popular belief.  The EGO-swelling pride in AUTHORING beneficial actions and developments establishes an ATTRIBUTION based approach to rewards and punishments in general.

In Modern physics as in indigenous aboriginal cultures, Taoism/Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta, there is no support for the concept of LOCAL AUTHORING of actions and developments, GOOD or BAD, … such events arising within the transforming relational continuum and are thus NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT (relational) in nature.

The death of George Floyd could be attributed to a lot of things, so many that in an indigenous aboriginal culture, the response is to assume that the community is at fault and to gather together in a healing circle so as to transform the community practices in such a manner as to subsume the relational dissonances that associate with violent and injurious actions.

We WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS may say; WELL, THAT’S NOT THE WAY WE DO THINGS AROUND HERE; WE DETERMINE WHO IS GUILTY AND WE PUNISH THEM.  WE FIND THE ENEMY and it is NOT US in spite of what POGO says.

Fine, however, … the penal population continues to rise at the insistence of the MAJORITY OF PEOPLE WHO ARE INNOCENT OF ALL INVOLVEMENT?! in criminal actions.  Perhaps there’s something wrong with the basic WESTERN CULTURE ASSUMPTIONS as to the nature of criminal action (or is that social relational dissonance).

AFTERWORD: TRANSFORMATION GONE MISSING (REPLACED BY BINARY LOGIC)

Whether or not we are ‘religious’, we fall into different ‘categories’ on the basis of how we regard THE TWO AND THE ONE.   For example, in WESTERN THINKING both GOOD and EVIL are considered REAL and the idea is to AUTHOR GOOD works and SUPPRESS BAD works.  This is an advocacy for PURIFICATION which is UNLIKE THE EAST where, because the understanding is that everything is related (mitakuye oyasin), PURIFICATION DOESN’T MAKE SENSE, and our ‘optimizing approach’ a relational world is to cultivate harmony and subsume dissonance.   For example, if we in a complicated freeway traffic situation, we can brake, accelerate or swerve left or fight, not simply to get to our destination but so as to undercut impending conflict as when we move relatively so as to open up an escape exit for someone about to collide with another.   Since nothing happens, things just keep moving and unfolding in a smooth continuous manner.

But the unfolding relational transformation or the ‘what is’ is not the fully story as at least two participants know, because there is a ‘what could have been’ without a certain ‘what there was’; i.e. the action of the driver that was solely to ‘transform’ the relational dynamic in such a manner as to open up an escape route for someone who would otherwise have been in a collision. 

Our relational dynamics in general (and ‘relational dynamics’ are the only real dynamics we participate in), cannot be captured in terms of ‘what we do’ because movement is relative, thus our talk of ‘our movement’ is erroneous.  It is in fact ‘doubly erroneous’ as in the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR.  In the transforming matrix of relations associated with freeway traffic flow, it is impossible to speak of ‘the movement of a particular car’ because as individuals we move relative to the spaces that open up for us to move into, and since all participants movements are induced by the relational opening that are unfolding, there is nothing ‘real’ that could be called individual movement.  Individual movement is abstraction that comes from language-based representation. If three or four of us move so as to open up space for a fifth person to move into and escape a likely collision, it would be incomplete to describe this as ‘the motion of that fifth person.  That would be abstract motion of that person relative to a notional absolute space frame (Euclidian space frame).

The REAL motion is NOT the motion of the individual relative to some fixed reference grid, the REAL motion is the overall RELATIONAL motion where the changing shape of the relational holes inductively shapes the assertive movements of the participants.

Since the male assertive movements of the participants are at the same time the female inductive targets, what we have here is a coniunctio oppositorum akin to the Wave-dynamic.  This motion is of the same essence as TRANSFORMATION.

In pondering such conjugate topological dynamics, when we come the EARTH and its volcanic extrusions which form a new external material covering complemented by its subduction-zone sinkholes wherein old material is melted down and drawn into the interior, our intuition informs us that WE DON’T NEED TO SPEAK OF ‘THE EARTH” as the SUBJECT AND AUTHOR OF THESE ACTIONS, these actions are their own subject and we can call it EARTHING or PLANETING and as in modern physics, we are now understanding this EARTHING dynamic in terms of THINGLESS-CONNECTEDNESS (the gathering-scattering spoken of by Heraclitus).  This is the essence of TRANSFORMATION.

While TRANSFORMATION is the basic reality dynamic, the DOUBLE ERROR of Language and Grammar SHIFTS our understanding from the THINGLESS-CONNECTEDNESS of the TRANSFORMING Wave-field, to GRAMMAR-based MECHANICS of things-in-themselves shifting (like sand-dunes) within a notional ABSTRACT FIXED, ABSOLUTE AND EMPTY REFERENCE FRAME.

The driver of car who ‘runs out of room’ and is approaching head-on-collision as he overtakes a line of cars on a two traffic lane (one for each direction) highway, but is offered a ‘hole’ by someone in the solid line of traffic he is passing, ‘backing off’ to open up space for him, recognizes this move as IMPORTANT as does the driver who ‘backed off’ in that it transforms spatial relations so that NOTHING HAPPENS.

“They were upright and correct without knowing that to be so was righteous. They loved one another without knowing that to do so was benevolence. They were sincere without knowing that to do so was loyalty. They kept their promises without knowing that to do so was to be in good faith. They helped one another without thought of giving or receiving gifts. Thus their actions left no trace and we have no records of their affairs” – Chuang Tzu

How can it be that something we know is very important and perhaps life saving, is not reported simply because NOTHING HAPPENED?  (but without intervention it would have happened). 

If we were dealing with TWO-BODY dynamics, which is all that Newtonian physics can deal with (if there are many bodies, the problem can nevertheless be reduced to the TWO-body solution approach), we could have articulated that fact that Joe stepped into the fight to protect Sam, but in this THREE-BODY problem Joe backed off to open up a space that would let Sam protect himself (Joe opened up a space between himself and Fred that Sam was able to move into).  In the three-body problem, space become an active player and discussion in terms of ‘what things do’ is insufficient.  Our language-based representations in the DOUBLE ERROR terms of NAMING-instantiated-things-in-themselves with GRAMMAR-given powers of AUTHORING actions and developments IMPLICITLY TRANSPIRE WITHIN AN ABSOLUTE EMPTY SPACE OF INFINITE EXTENT.

Three bodies can move relative to their own relational pattern.  The outside observer can describe their moves relative to an absolute space reference frame but the actual participants can let the transforming of spatial relations inductively shape their movements, as in the case where Joe backs off from Fred in order to open up space for Sam to move to safety, so that NOTHING HAPPENED, other than the transformation of spatial relations which induced transformation in the relational dynamics.

If we were to capture what went on in terms of a narrative documenting everyone’s actions relative to absolute fixed empty and infinite reference frame, the implication would be that the motion could be understood by the sum of the assertive actions of the individual participants.   But in the situation discussed, the RELATIONAL PATTERN co-created by Joe and Fred separating inductively shaped the movement of Sam.  Thus Sam’s movement cannot be understood in simple ‘assertive’ terms and what we have going on is the situation spoke of by Newton thusly;

An exact solution for three bodies, exceeds, if I am not mistaken, the force of any human mind” – Isaac Newton 

When three bodies are moving relatively to one another, as in the case of Joe, Sam and Fred, the SHAPE OF SPACE can influence the unfolding dynamic, as when Joe and Fred opened up space for Sam to move into.   To capture movements of things relative to a fixed reference grid can be done for any mechanical system but such measurement does not given an understanding of complex systems wherein the transforming relations in the system inform its development.

In the nonlinear dynamics of avalanches, the falling rock develops a fluidity that defies the standard physics.   What happens is beyond the regular theory in that thee is sorting as the rocks fall with the finer sizes falling into the holes opening between the larger rocks so that the intermediate sizes fall beneath the larger sizes and the fine sizes fall beneath the intermediate and this natural sorting serves to furnish the landslide with a lower slipper cushion of fines which the intermediate and coarse can slide on top of in an effectlvely ‘self-lubricating’ system which explains the temporary fluidity of the material in the slide.  As the rocks finally stall, the coarser rocks ‘catch up’ with the fines and their original mix is more or less reconstituted.

THIS AFTERNOTE was written to draw attention to the problem of how our DOUBLE ERROR based WESTERN CULTURE language has important ‘drop out’ issues as relate to the ‘three body problem’.

How can it be that something we know is very important and perhaps life saving, is not reported simply because NOTHING HAPPENED?  (but without intervention something would have happened). 

The implication is that TRANSFORMATION GETS LOST in WESTERN CULTURE DOUBLE ERROR based language and grammar reductions and TRANSFORMATION is our sense-experience reality.  The reality constructions based on the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR are SUBSTITUTE REALITIES that, in WESTERN CULTURE, have hijacked the rightful place of the real reality of TRANSFORMATION.
