to the Islands Independent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Editor, The Islands Independent<\/p>\n<p>Thanks for publishing the response from Tim Ball, who, like many of us whose inquiry does not support man-made global warming (nor CO2-forcing of climate change), is subjected to \u2018shoot-the-messenger\u2019 tactics such as being generally tainted with the \u2018denier\u2019 label and being accused of being dupes of Oil Company propaganda or worse, being \u2018bought\u2019 by corporate funding or corporate loyalties.<\/p>\n<p>Having studied \u2018nonlinear dynamics\u2019 in natural systems for over forty years, as a geophysicist\/seismologist (paleo-climates are key to geological understanding) and in other natural systems contexts, and having managed simulation-science research initiatives, I have a first-hand awareness of the pitfalls of over-simplification\u00a0in earth-modeling (linearizing highly nonlinear phenomena).<\/p>\n<p>Elizabeth May and perhaps Nadia Nowak, Peter Carter and others,\u00a0may have no need to discuss\u00a0dynamic phenomena in\u00a0more than superficial detail because \u2018they have it on good authority\u2019 that anthropogenic global warming and CO2-forcing of climate change \u2018are fact\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Early on, it was said that no-one of scientific repute challenged these \u2018facts\u2019 but that was never true and many respected climate scientists who do not \u2018buy it\u2019 have since spoken out.\u00a0 My continuing inquiries have led to exchanges with such scientists in Canada, Russia and the U.S.\u00a0\u00a0 So, without depending on my own (continuing) work on \u2018complex systems\u2019, I too can say that \u2018I have it on good authority\u2019 that anthropogenic global warming and CO2- forcing of climate change are artifacts of over-simplifying nature\u2019s complexity.<\/p>\n<p>This letter is not intended to \u2018push\u2019 my views on climate change (those can be found by googling the\u00a0\u201cAboriginal Physics Newsletter\u201d), but to support\/reinforce openness in continuing reportage on this important topic and to be sure that the community knows that the relative silence from so-called \u2018deniers\u2019 derives more from the thanklessness of the task of speaking up\u00a0and sharing openly and honestly (to speak up is to draw fire) than to accepting the alleged \u2018truth\u2019\u00a0about &#8216;climate\u2019 that has become tantamount to \u2018religious dogma\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>I accept that my understanding \u2018may be wrong\u2019 as everyone of whatever view must, until models\/predictions have been subsumed by actuality, but would like to give voice to those of us who have been diligent in our inquiry on this topic, whose opinions have not been \u2018bought\u2019 and who are raising a red flag to\u00a0try to help avoid a costly \u2018wildgoose chase\u2019 that will inevitably reduce effort on a plethora of non-controversial, sorely-needed\u00a0\u2018tread-lightly\u2019 initiatives..<\/p>\n<p>Ted Lumley<\/p>\n<p>Pender Island<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Editor, The Islands Independent Thanks for publishing the response from Tim Ball, who, like many of us whose inquiry does not support man-made global warming (nor CO2-forcing of climate change), is subjected to \u2018shoot-the-messenger\u2019 tactics such as being generally tainted with the \u2018denier\u2019 label and being accused of being dupes of Oil Company propaganda [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":102,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-726","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry","count-0","even alt","author-emile","last"],"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/goodshare.org\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/726"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/goodshare.org\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/goodshare.org\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/goodshare.org\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/goodshare.org\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=726"}],"version-history":[{"count":7,"href":"https:\/\/goodshare.org\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/726\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":734,"href":"https:\/\/goodshare.org\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/726\/revisions\/734"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/goodshare.org\/wp\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=726"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
