{"id":3833,"date":"2019-08-05T17:28:54","date_gmt":"2019-08-06T01:28:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/goodshare.org\/wp\/?p=3833"},"modified":"2019-08-08T22:30:48","modified_gmt":"2019-08-09T06:30:48","slug":"surviving-our-immersion-in-a-psychologically-aberrant-western-culture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/goodshare.org\/wp\/surviving-our-immersion-in-a-psychologically-aberrant-western-culture\/","title":{"rendered":"Surviving our Immersion in a Psychologically Aberrant Western Culture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>It is NOT possible for one member of the community to rise up and kill other members of the community where &#8216;community&#8217; implies relational interdependence, &#8230; that would be an &#8216;error of grammar&#8217; .\u00a0 But is IS possible for dissonance to emerge together with harmony, within a transforming relational continuum.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-size: 0.8em;\">UNDERSTANDING THE RISE OF MASS KILLINGS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Understanding mass killings <\/em>requires an understanding of why psychological studies of the mass killers do not reveal that these individuals (many of whom are white Western culture males) are NOT significantly different from the <strong><em>NORMAL<\/em><\/strong> Western culture adherent. \u00a0\u00a0There is a problem with what we hold to be \u2018normal behaviour\u2019 in our Western culture.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong><em>What we call \u2018normal\u2019 is a product of repression, denial, splitting, projection, introjection and other forms of destructive action on experience.\u201d <\/em><\/strong><em>\u2013 R. D. Laing<\/em>, author of\u00a0<em>\u2018The Divided Self\u2019<\/em>;<\/p>\n<p>A prime example of Western culture aberrant thinking is the belief in the \u2018producer-product\u2019 dynamic, this is a linguistically re-upholstered version of the medieval belief in \u2018sorcery\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>It is evidently \u2018normal\u2019 (among Western culture adherents) to consider some individuals to be \u2018more productive\u2019 than other individuals and to allocate rewards and recognition (and\/or punishments and condemnation) on this basis.\u00a0 This is the basic \u2018craziness\u2019 in Western culture, the manifestation of which we refer to as \u2018ego\u2019. \u00a0In \u2018reality\u2019, we share inclusion in a transforming relational continuum, and there are not local points of emergent \u2018sorcery\u2019 (producer-product phenomena), such concepts are language and grammar-based abstractions that are not \u2018grounded\u2019 in our experience of inclusion in a transforming relational continuum.<\/p>\n<p>Mass murders are rooted in the Western culture belief in \u2018sorcery\u2019 and its abstract cohort \u2018ego\u2019.\u00a0 Instead of understanding ourselves as relational forms within the transforming relational continuum, language and grammar (the tool that has \u2018run away with the workman\u2019 as Emerson observes), encourages us to understanding ourselves as \u2018independent beings\u2019 with \u2018our own powers of sourcing actions and developments.<\/p>\n<p>The tendency to aberrant behaviour (including extreme forms like mass murder) derives from Western culture belief and adherence itself, as Nietzsche points out.\u00a0 This aberrance arises from the fact that we Western culture adherents are psychologically conditioned from infancy to believe in <strong><em>\u2018the double error\u2019<\/em><\/strong> of language and grammar which induces <strong><em>belief in the \u2018naming\u2019 instantiated independent existence of \u2018things-in-themselves\u2019 (first error) conflated with (second error) wherein we use grammar to impute to these \u2018things-in-themselves\u2019 the powers of sourcing actions and developments.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cases in point include naming-instantiated (notional) things-in-themselves such as individual humans, nations, corporations.\u00a0 In other words, we use this \u2018double error\u2019 to \u2018break down\u2019 and \u2018reduce\u2019 the transforming relational continuum, \u2026 the reality of our actual sensory experience, \u2026 into language and grammar based, intellectually manageable terms.\u00a0 <strong><em>The Tao<\/em><\/strong> (the transforming relational continuum) <strong><em>that cannot be told<\/em><\/strong> then becomes (with the double error-based reduction) \u2018tellable\u2019 or \u2018articulable\u2019 via \u2018language\u2019, although it is no longer \u2018the true Tao\u2019.\u00a0\u00a0 For example, the purely relational dynamic of \u2018duning\u2019 is something we use language and grammar to \u2018reduce\u2019 by way of the \u2018double error\u2019; e.g. \u2018the dune is growing longer and higher and is shifting to the south.\u00a0\u00a0 What was only accessible to our purely relational intuition, since it was included in the overall relational transformation that is all-including (and which includes ourselves), then becomes accessible to our spoken tongue, but not without losing its essence nature of inclusion within the transforming relational continuum.<\/p>\n<p>By using the \u2018double error\u2019 to \u2018break out the relational form\u2019, we are able to articulate (approximately) what was innately inarticulable (the Tao; i.e. the all-including field\/flow that includes us), but what we are then articulating is not \u2018the true Tao\u2019 ( i.e. not the true all-including flow) but some sort of \u2018allusion\u2019 to it.\u00a0 In modern physics and in indigenous aboriginal cultures, Taoism\/Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta, language is used \u2018indirectly\u2019 as in \u2018The surprise version of the game of Twenty Questions\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in Western culture, \u2018duning\u2019 is of a purely relational origin; i.e. there is no \u2018dune\u2019 that \u2018sources\u2019 its own movement and development, yet Western culture language and grammar based expression employs \u2018the \u2018double error\u2019 to reduce the \u2018duning\u2019 (a purely non-material-dependent relational resonance phenomenon that becomes visibly manifest through sand grains collecting in it) to a name-instantiated thing-in-itself (\u2018dune\u2019) which grammar notionally endows with the powers of sourcing actions and developments, as in \u2018the dune is growing larger and taller and is shifting to the southeast\u2019.\u00a0 The primary physical reality is the purely relational resonance phenomenon.\u00a0 The visual impression, on the other hand, can be \u2018objectified\u2019 using the double error of language and grammar.<\/p>\n<p>DON\u2019T BE MISLED BY THE DOUBLE ERROR OF LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR; i.e. the physical phenomenon is a purely relational resonance phenomenon THAT IS NOT, IN ITSELF, VISIBLE.\u00a0 What we \u2018see\u2019 (that which is visible) is SECONDARY to the basic resonance (wave) phenomenon and it is the persisting visual images that provide us with \u2018traction\u2019 for employing double error based language and grammar; i.e. \u201cTHE DUNE\u201d which is \u201cGROWING LARGER AND TALLER AND SHIFTING TO THE SOUTHEAST\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>BUT THERE IS NO \u2018DUNE\u2019 IN THE PHYSICAL REALITY, THERE IS RELATIONAL RESONANCE developing within the dynamics of earth, air, water and sky; i.e. THERE IS ONLY \u201cDUNING\u201d WHICH DOES NOT DEPEND ON SAND, BUT WHICH IS MADE VISIBLE BY THE SAND, IN THE MANNER THAT A MAGNETIC FIELD IS MADE VISIBLE BY THE SHIFTING OF IRON FILINGS.<\/p>\n<p>Western culture language and grammar keys to visual phenomena which is secondary; i.e. \u2018Look!\u00a0 the iron filings are shifting!\u2019, \u2026 \u2018Look!\u00a0 The dune is growing broader and longer and shifting across the desert floor.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>AND, WAIT FOR IT!<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Look! The human infant is growing broader and longer and is crawling across the kitchen floor\u2019<\/p>\n<p>THIS IS DOUBLE-ERROR-SPEAK!<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>Our judgement has us conclude that every change must have an author\u201d;\u2013but this conclusion is already mythology: it separates that which effects from the effecting. If I say \u201clightning flashes,\u201d I have posited the flash once as an activity and a second time as a subject, and thus added to the event a being that is not one with the event but is rather fixed, \u201cis\u201d and does not \u201cbecome.\u201d\u2013To regard an event as an \u201ceffecting,\u201d and this as being, that is the double error, or interpretation, of which we are guilty.\u201d \u2013 Nietzsche, \u2018Will to Power\u2019, 531<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The point is that; (A) our experiencing of the world is the experiencing of inclusion within a transforming relational continuum (\u2018the Tao\u2019 or \u2018the field\u2019) and this experience lies innately beyond the expressive capability of language and grammar.\u00a0 (B) The corollary to (A) is that WHAT WE ARE ABLE TO ARTICULATE IS \u2018BY INFERENCE\u2019 AND IS NOT THE REALITY OF OUR ACTUAL EXPERIENCE OF INCLUSION IN THE TRANFORMING RELATIONAL CONTINUUM.\u00a0 We cannot physically \u2018get outside of\u2019 the flow (Tao) in which we, ourselves are included relational forms.\u00a0 The use of language and grammar to \u2018re-invent ourselves\u2019 in the \u2018double error\u2019 context, as \u2018things-in-ourselves with powers of sourcing actions and developments is psychological abstraction.\u00a0 The physical reality of the Tao remains the primary reality while the language and grammar double error based INVENTED REALITY is an intellectual abstraction based \u2018tool\u2019 wherein we using \u2018naming\u2019 to give ourselves (intellectually though not physically) \u2018being\u2019 as \u2018things-in-ourselves\u2019 with notional powers of sourcing actions and developments.\u00a0 In Western culture, this \u2018tool\u2019 born of expediency (to allude to the Tao that cannot be told) has been \u2018running away with the workman\u2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201cIn its origin language belongs in the age of the most rudimentary form of psychology. We enter a realm of crude fetishism when we summon before consciousness the basic presuppositions of the metaphysics of language, in plain talk, the presuppositions of reason. Everywhere it sees a doer and doing; it believes in will as the cause; it believes in the ego, in the ego as being, in the ego as substance, and it projects this faith in the ego-substance upon all things \u2014 only thereby does it first create the concept of \u201cthing.\u201d Everywhere \u201cbeing\u201d is projected by thought, pushed underneath, as the cause; the concept of being follows, and is a derivative of, the concept of ego. In the beginning there is that great calamity of an error that the will is something which is effective, that will is a faculty. Today we know that it is only a word.\u201d \u2013 Nietzsche, \u2018Twilight of the Idols\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Language is a tool that allows us to use language and grammar to \u2018intellectualize\u2019 the non-intellectualizable Tao.\u00a0 The Tao the flow we are included in that we are informed of through our purely relational experiential sensing.\u00a0 The tool of language allows us to construct visual pictures of the relational reality we are included in, as if we were external voyeurs of a reality that is external to us; i.e. as if we are \u2018inhabitants\u2019 of a \u2018habitat\u2019 that we can see \u2018out there in front of us\u2019. \u00a0\u00a0Instead of all action residing within the Tao (the transforming relational continuum), language and grammar allow us to construct an intellect based INVENTED REALITY, \u2026 a \u2018tool\u2019 that we can use as a crude \u2018go-by\u2019 to \u2018infer\u2019, for cognitive expedience, inferential knowledge that alludes to \u2018the Tao that cannot be told\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Intellectual-psychological confusion can arise from using the tool of double error based INVENTED REALITY.\u00a0 It is only an \u2018alluding\u2019 to a relational reality (the Tao) that lies intrinsically beyond direct\/explicit capture by language.\u00a0 For example, as humans, we are included within the transforming relational continuum, yet language and grammar equip us to speak (and think) in term of our having constructed a house, or a highway, or a city.\u00a0 These notional human-authored (human-sourced) constructions are easily put together and shared, intellectually, with language and grammar, and once everyone is talking about them, they become part of the language and grammar based INVENTED REALITY.<\/p>\n<p>The reality of the Tao, the transforming relational continuum, is the reality of our sensory experience and it cannot be reduced to language and grammar.\u00a0 As described above, the language and grammar based producer-product reality (double error based reality) is an expedient tool that allows us to allude to the beyond-articulation relational reality.\u00a0 The tool of language and grammar allows us to construct a pseudo (invented) reality that can serve as a \u2018go-by\u2019 to allude to the beyond-explicit articulation relational reality (the Tao).\u00a0 Wittgenstein points to this as follows in his final proposition in \u2018Tractatus\u2019;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>6.54 My propositions are elucidatory in this way: he who understands me finally recognizes them as senseless, when he has climbed out through them, on them, over them. (He must so to speak throw away the ladder, after he has climbed up on it.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>He must surmount these propositions; then he sees the world rightly.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u201c7.\u00a0<em>Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Our propositions speak in \u2018producer-product\u2019 terms, as in the example where we reduce \u2018duning\u2019 to \u2018dune\u2019 and use grammar to notionally give producer-product powers to \u2018the dune\u2019 as part of this \u2018language game\u2019.\u00a0 In the same way we reduce the \u2018humaning\u2019 (a relational development within the transforming relational continuum) to a \u2018human\u2019 and use grammar to notionally give producer-product powers to the \u2018human\u2019.\u00a0 In this way, we are exposed to the tool running away with our self, so that if we construct ten houses in our lifetime, we start to see our lives on the basis of producer-product accomplishments, and lose touch with our real experience of inclusion within the transforming relational continuum.\u00a0 As inclusions within the transforming relational continuum, our producer-product achievements or \u2018ends\u2019 are transient relational forms in the flow, as we ourselves are.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u00a0<em>A man\u2019s wisdom is to know that all ends are momentary, that the best end must be superseded by a better. But there is a mischievous tendency in him to transfer his thought from the life to the ends, to quit his agency and rest in his acts: the tools run away with the workman, the human with the divine. \u2013 Ralph Waldo Emerson, \u2018The Method of Nature\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0* * *\\<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-size: 0.8em;\">UNDERSTANDING THE RISE OF MASS KILLINGS in our aberrance-inducing Western culture<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Western culture cultivates belief in the \u2018producer-product\u2019 view of reality based on the \u2018double error\u2019 of language and grammar wherein name-instantiated things-in-themselves (first error) are imputed to have (second error) powers of sourcing actions and developments.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The double error allows us to reduce the Tao that cannot be told (since it is a transforming relational continuum) to double-error based terms that \u2018can be told\u2019.\u00a0\u00a0 The producer-product concept is a Western culture \u2018double error\u2019 based means of constructing a \u2018tellable\u2019 INVENTED REALITY.<\/p>\n<p>This is an aberrance-inducing INVENTED REALITY in that it imputes producer-product powers to name-instantiated things-in-themselves (humans, nations, corporations).<\/p>\n<p>THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A PRODUCER-PRODUCT DYNAMIC IN THE TRANSFORMING RELATIONAL CONTINUUM!<\/p>\n<p>The producer-product concept is a language-and-grammar based intellectual abstraction.\u00a0 It is a delusion that has become foundational to Western culture operative beliefs, leading to inflated and deflated egos.\u00a0 In modern physics and in indigenous aboriginal understandings of reality, there are only \u2018relations\u2019 (\u2018mitakuye oyasin\u2019); e.g.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>\u201cOnce I was in Victoria, and I saw a very large house; they told me it was a bank and that the white men place their money there to take care of, and that by-and-by they got it back, with interest. We are Indians and have no such bank; but when we have plenty of money or blankets, we give them away to other chiefs and people, and by-and-by they return them, with interest, and our hearts feel good. Our potlatch is our bank.\u201d [for the full letter and associated context (jailing of first nations people for continuing with the potlatch tradition) see \u2018First People First Voices\u2019, edited by Penny Petrone, University of Toronto Press, 1991]<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>THE WESTERN CULTURE BELIEF IN THE PRODUCER-PRODUCT CONCEPT IS A CRAZY-MAKER. \u00a0The producer-product concept is an artefact of the double error of language and grammar.\u00a0 To attribute productive authorship to humans seen in double error terms (as name-instantiated things-in-themselves with powers of sourcing actions and developments) is psychological aberrance that is accepted, in Western culture society, as \u2018normality\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The producer-product understanding is the source of \u2018ego inflation\u2019 and \u2018ego-deflation\u2019.\u00a0 \u2018Blame\u2019 and \u2018forgiveness\u2019 are vacant concepts empty of meaning since they pivot from the empty concept of \u2018sorcery\u2019.\u00a0 In the U.S., as people of colour or those deemed by whites as \u2018foreigners\u2019 grow in relative proportion within traditionally predominating White European culture, BECAUSE OF THE GENERAL WESTERN CULTURE BELIEF IN THE (double error-based) PRODUCER-PRODUCT DYNAMIC, there is suspicion as to the fairness of the social systems of allocation of material well-being.<\/p>\n<p>SUSPICION\/MISTRUST AND TENSIONS LEADING TO OUTBREAKS OF VIOLENCE AND MASS MURDERS are reminiscent of Jules Henry\u2019s \u2018Culture Against Man\u2019, in the implied sense that \u2018payback time has arrived\u2019. \u00a0It\u2019s now \u2018Man Against Culture\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Why has it taken so long?\u00a0 As Henri Laborit explained, it is because the people who the system falsely credits with superior producer-product powers (powers of sourcing actions and developments) are delegated authority, by the social collective, as to what changes will be made to the system.\u00a0 This makes it very difficult to make changes that refute the legitimacy of the product-product view, since we have apportioned disproportionate power over changes to people on the basis of their perceived producer-product actions and developments.\u00a0 \u2018Sharing\u2019 the view that the \u2018producer-product concept is nonsensical is not easily articulated and mounts to an \u2018Emperor\u2019s new clothes\u2019 \u2018de-frocking\u2019 of currently recognized \u2018pillars of Western society\u2019;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>We\u2019 who explore such topics, cannot easily share them because (a) they do not fit into the typical dinner conversation format of our present culture, since to express them takes a lot of relational connections that can\u2019t fit into a rapid-fire repartee, and (b) because the humanism \u00a0implicit in trying to share them is not seen as \u201ca humanism of real worth\u201d since it undermines, besmirches or topples the esteemed icons, pillars of society, founding fathers, and celebrities of the culture-in-place.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><em>\u2013 Henri Laborit, \u2018La Nouvelle Grille\u2019\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Henri_Laborit\">https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Henri_Laborit<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In our upside-down thinking Western culture, it\u2019s payback time; i.e. While we have acknowledged \u2018Culture Against Man\u2019, what is emerging is \u2018Man Against Culture\u2019. How do you \u2018kill a culture\u2019?\u00a0 One might assume that a starting point would be to kill culture-adherents, the one\u2019s who sustain the normal operations of the culture which is so unjustifiably biased in favour of the few and against the many.<\/p>\n<p>Such retributive logic would of course depend on first making the \u2018double error\u2019 of assuming that there exist social collectives as \u2018things-in-themselves\u2019 with powers of sourcing actions and developments.<\/p>\n<p>But the \u2018double error\u2019 was the psychologically imagined source of the problem.\u00a0 Physically eliminating the imagined source of the imagined problem.\u00a0 In other words, \u2018sorcery\u2019 is an illusion.\u00a0 The \u2018duning\u2019 is not really a thing-in-itself (a \u2018dune\u2019) with the producer-product powers of building and shifting etc.\u00a0 The duning is a purely relational resonance phenomenon that inductively orchestrates \u2018duning\u2019.\u00a0 A resonance feature such as a \u2018dune\u2019 has no internal powers of sourcing actions and development.\u00a0 Such an impression is intellectual abstraction triggered by language and grammar.\u00a0 What holds for \u2018duning\u2019 also holds for \u2018humaning\u2019.\u00a0 \u2018Humans\u2019 are not \u2018things-in-themselves\u2019 with their own powers of sourcing actions and developments.\u00a0 That is the \u2018double error\u2019 of Western culture that serves as the basis of an INVENTED REALITY.<\/p>\n<p>WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS-IN-GOOD-STANDING, \u2026 PARTICULARLY THOSE IN POSITIONS OF POWER, ARE \u201cPROTECTORS\/DEFENDERS\u201d OF BELIEF IN WESTERN CULTURE DOUBLE ERROR BASED \u2018INVENTED REALITY\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The first problem is the Western culture promoted belief in the double error; i.e. the belief in name-instantiated things-in-themselves with notional powers of sourcing actions and developments.\u00a0 On this basis, a phony system of rewards and punishments is established.<\/p>\n<p>As David Bohm points out, it is oversimplification born of language and grammar to attribute the source of Lincoln\u2019s death to John Wilkes Booth. \u00a0The real world of our experience is of inclusion in a complex web of relations that CANNOT be reduced to simple cause-effect transactions.\u00a0 The \u2018cause-effect\u2019 (\u2018producer-product\u2019) abstract model of social dynamics is \u2018double error\u2019 based. \u00a0It gives rise to an INVENTED REALITY that is nothing like the reality of our sensual experience of inclusion in the transforming relational continuum.<\/p>\n<p>This INVENTED REALITY is the Western culture \u2018normal\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>In the current atmosphere of rising incidence of mass murders<\/em><\/strong>, one might hope for a \u2018return to normal\u2019, but for Western culture, the problem is that \u2018normal\u2019 is the problem; i.e. Western culture \u2018normal\u2019 is the source of culture-pervading aberrance as in anthropologist Jules Henry\u2019s exposition \u2018Culture Against Man\u2019; an anthropological view that is reaffirmed in psychology;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u00a0\u00a0<em>What we call \u2018normal\u2019 is a product of repression, denial, splitting, projection, introjection and other forms of destructive action on experience.\u201d \u2013 R. D.
