In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), “BALANCE” is the fundamental cornerstone of health, acting as the governing principle for physical, mental and spiritual well-being.  Rather than a static, 50/50 state, “BALANCE” in TCM is viewed as a dynamic, fluid, and ever-changing equilibrium that allows the body to adapt to internal and external unbalancing influences.   When this harmony is disrupted, it leads to illness or discomfort, which TCM seeks to rectify by treating the root cause (“IMBALANCE”) rather than just symptoms.

The core of TCM is the cultivating of balance between two opposing influences; “Yin” and “Yang” where the former represents darkness, cold, rest, structure and cooling and the latter represents brightness, warmth, activity, energy and function.  Health occurs when Yin and Yang are in a “dynamic BALANCE” i.e. harmonious state.

BALANCE is the condition supporting health and harmony and “THE LOGIC OF BALANCE” IS THE BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM.      WESTERN CULTURE, meanwhile, has invented the simple BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC of the EXCLUDED MEDIUM based concept of “THE PATHOGEN” which has come to play the FOUNDATIONAL ROLE in WESTERN MEDICINE; i.e. instead of orienting to the cultivating and sustaining of balance and harmony of the microbial assemblage, WESTERN MEDICINE has accepted the abstract notion of PATHOGEN and created ALLOPATHIC MEDICINE that orients to the ELIMATING OF PATHOGENS, MISSING THE POINT (OBSCURING THE REALITY) that there are no (local, explicit) things such as PATHOGENS, there are only (nonlocal, implicit) IMBALANCES as can lead to STRIFE and INJURY.  For example, IMBALANCE between RICH and POOR based on the WESTERN CULTURE concept of ENTITLEMENT inductively generates REBALANCING AGENTS which in BINARY LOGIC based terms are tagged as PATHOGENS (thieves) which, as with GERMS in WESTERN MEDICINE, are misidentified as the SOURCE of the DYSFUNCTION (pathogens we call thieves) when in reality these ‘pathogeens called thieves’ are the RESULT of the DYSFUNCTION which is IMBALANCE.

The WESTERN CULTURE CONCEPT of ENTITLEMENT is the source of SYSTEMATIC RICH and POOR IMBALANCE which inductively breeds REBALANCING AGENTS that are given the PEJORATIVE name-labelling of “PATHOGENS” (THIEVES).  While indigenous aboriginal cultures support BALANCE-RESTORING actions such as the POTLATCH to smooth out the random arrivals of SURPLUS and DEFICIENCY, WESTERN CULTURE use of the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR implies the abstract concept of LOCAL AUTHORING that is ONE-SIDED MALE ASSERTING/ACTUALIZING  (e.g. all the things the farmer does to cultivate crops) BUT WHICH DROPS OUT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of the FEMALE ACCOMMODATING/ENABLING conjugate.  This means that while WESTERN CULTURE LINGUISTIC CONCEPTUALIZING is adequately designed to capture the correlation between the farmer’s hard work in cultivating the fields and a fine crop, all such male asserting/actualizing effort could be for naught without the female accommodating/enabling fair weather (gentle rainfall, solar irradiance, oxygenated winds that are key contributers to a fine crop, when present, and the source of crop failure when not present.

WESTERN CULTURE linguistic conceptualizing gives full and sole credit to the male asserting/actualizing PUNCH that shatters the recipient’s SKULL without acknowledging that IT MAY WELL BE AN EGG-SHELL THIN SKULL that is MORE RESPONSIBLE for the shattering of the SKULL than what may have been a FEEBLE PUNCH.  In other words, it is the FEMALE ACCOMMODATING/ENABLING of the egg-shell thin SKULL that is MORE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TRANSFORMATION than the MALE ASSERTING/ACTUALIZING AGENCY of the (feeble) PUNCH.  As in the Zen koan, (is it the LOCAL, EXPLICIT FLAG that is moving or is it the NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT WIND that is moving?   NEITHER, it is the MIND that is moving.

INDIGENOUS ABORIGINAL CULTURE flow-based linguistic conceptualizing scheme with its STRANDS IN THE WEB relation acknowleges the NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT (relational) nature of all dynamics where the LOCAL and EXPLICIT is only APPEARANCE (Schaumkommen).  So “THE TOWN IS GROWING” is only LOCAL, EXPLICIT APPEARANCE or YANG since what is actually occurring is that ‘there is TOWNING in the TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE’ aka TRANSFORMATION of the overall LANDSCAPE which is NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT REALITY or YIN.     While WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS see these as TWO SEPARATE THINGS and VALIDATE the LOCAL and EXPLICIT while DROPPING OUT the NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT, the physical reality is the WAVE-FIELD wherein the NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT … DO NOT SPLIT APART FROM THE LOCAL and EXPLICIT (the WAVE-TROUGH and WAVE-PEAK DO NOT SPLIT APART INTO TWO SEPARATE COMPONENTS, that is the MISTAKE of WESTERN CULTURE termed by Nietzsche, the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR that supports the FALSE notion of there being a LOCAL and EXPLICIT “ON ITS OWN” such as the “GROWTH OF THE TOWN”.  This is IMPOSSIBLE without at the same time, the SHRINKING of the WILDERNESS.  They Yin/Yang symbol captures this CONJUGATE relation wherein the NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT  “YIN” AND THE LOCAL and EXPLICIT “YANG” only exist in a BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM context.

Over the course of more than twenty years of pursuing philosophical investigations into WAVE PHYSICS, initially as a GEOPHYSICIST and later opening up the investigation to SYSTEMS SCIENCE, many understandings from various FIELDS OF INQUIRY have “COME TOGETHER” which has LED ME TO A COGNITIVE CONNECTING (EQUIVALENCING) of WAVE-FIELD theory … TO… TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE, and through this CONNECTION to a DEEPER UNDERSTANDING of WESTERN CULTURE SOCIAL DYSFUNCTION (due to the WESTERN CULTURE DROPPING OUT of the FEMALE ACCOMMODATING/ENABLING conjugate and EMPLOYING the INCOMPLETE MALE ASSERTING/ACTUALIZING conjugate “ON ITS OWN”).

 

HOW DOES ONE SHARE SUCH FINDINGS? (they straddle different disciplines including those of EAST (and indigenous aboriginal BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM) AND WEST (mechanistic EITHER/OR LOGIC of the EXCLUDED MEDIUM) concepts.  The distinction between these EASTERN and WESTERN LINGUISTIC CONCEPTUALIZING FRAMEWORKS manifests in the difference in our linguistic conceptualizing schemes where we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS give the FOUNDATIONAL ROLE to simple BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC of the EXCLUDED MEDIUM where one speaks in such terms as “THE TOWN IS GROWING, DEVELOPING and PRODUCING goods”, … VERSUS … the indigenous aboriginal culture adherents who give the FOUNDATIONAL ROLE to less simple NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM where one speaks in such terms as “There is TOWNING in the TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE”.

 

This DIFFERENCE relates to the WAVE-FIELD structure of our reality; i.e. in the first example, this language captures the PEAK but NOT THE TROUGH; i.e. the MALE ASSERTING/ACTUALIZING PEAK but NOT THE FEMALE ACCOMMODATING/ENABLING TROUGH, … while the latter example (the indigenous aboriginal linguistic conceptualizing approach) INCLUDES BOTH PEAK AND TROUGH.  In terms of LOGIC, the first example “THE TOWN IS GROWING, DEVELOPING and PRODUCING goods” is SIMPLER in that it is grounded in BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC of the EXCLUDED MEDIUM, while the example “THERE IS TOWNING IN THE TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE” is LESS SIMPLE in that it is grounded in NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM.

 

ONE THING IS CLEAR, the FORMER BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC OF THE EXCLUDED MEDIUM based LINGUISTIC CONCEPTUALIZATION is dependent on BEING based things-in-themselves called TOWNS while the LATTER NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDINGMEDIUM based LINGUISTIC CONCEPTUALIZING has “NO DEPENDENCY on BEING-based things-in-themselves” and implies that EVERYTHING IS IN FLUX including the TOWNING in the TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE.
