The WEST-EAST REALITY SPLIT: PROGRESS VERSUS TRANSFORMATION
AUTHOR’S PREFACE: WESTERN CULTURE is commonly credited, by WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS, with REMARKABLE ADVANCES in KNOWLEDGE and TECHNOLOGY that put WESTERN CULTURE in an elevated standing in World History. Yet there are detractors, including indigenous aboriginal cultures that feel that WESTERN CULTURE is royally screwing things up. There seems to be evidence in support of both these apparently contradictory appraisals, and this essay explores how ‘this is so’. “PROGRESS” is a kind of LINEAR PROGRESSION that can characterize all manner of ways in which WESTERN CULTURE social collectives are growing, developing and producing agricultural and industrial developments and production. At the same time, there may be CONJUGATE LOSSES in the health of the Wilderness that is being exploited to make possible the impressive GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION. The RISE OF INDUSTRY and the DECLINE of WILDERNESS is a conjugate QUANTUM LOGIC balance measure found in the one dynamic of TRANSFORMATION. In the WAVE-FIELD reality in which we are included, it is relatively simple to make measurements of the MALE ASSERTIVE changes that are LOCAL and EXPLICIT but far more difficult to make measurements of the CONJUGATE FEMALE ACCOMMODATING that is NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT; e.g. the holes in the ground where ores are being extracted for smelting metals and the sand and gravel extracted for concrete construction, the gaps in the forest where trees have been taken for lumber, and these HOLES are the FEMALE CONJUGATE that goes together with the MALE ASSERTIVE dynamics of GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION, to jointly comprise the complex conjugate dynamic of TRANSFORMATION.
While WESTERN CULTURE ‘reality’ is commonly expressed in such terms as GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION, these speak only of a BINARY LOGIC based SUBSTITUTE REALITY which DROPS OUT the FEMALE ACCOMMODATING HOLES that are CONJUGATE to the MALE ASSERTING DEVELOPMENTS, and it is these two conjugates together that constitute the SENSE-EXPERIENCE AFFIRMABLE reality of TRANSFORMATION. There is a PITFALL here in that a single-minded focus on PROGRESS as measured in terms of GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION within the SUBSTITUTE REALITY “IS DISTRACTING US” from the REAL-REALITY SENSE-EXPERIENCE of INCLUSION IN TRANSFORMATION

PROGRESS is a LINEAR-IN-TIME IMPROVEMENT IN “OUR” (HUMAN) LIVES, usually in the sense of STREAMLINING THINGS FOR US HUMANS; e.g. we lay down FREEWAYS that disturb the lives of snakes and many other creatures. In general, this word “PROGRESS” is highly ANTHROPOCENTRIC and I have to be careful with my language here because Modern physics would have us understand that ‘everything is related’ within the ONE WAVE-FIELD also known as ‘the Tao’.
As my late friend and systems theorist Martine Dodds-Taljaard has pointed out in ‘The Name of the Devil is Suboptimization’, we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS chronically fall into the trap of trying to optimize what we take to be a ‘particular system’ assuming its ‘independence’ but in reality THERE ARE NO INDEPENDENT SYSTEMS and thus our fiddling around with “one system” fiddles in an unintended and unmonitored way, with the interdependent matrix of systems.
This understanding lies behind my choice of title for this note, PROGRESS VERSUS TRANSFORMATION because in a world of innate interdependence, which is the nature of the WAVE-FIELD world we live in (aka ‘the Tao), it is impossible to ‘fiddle with’ one thing WITHOUT CHANGING EVERYTHING. We could put this another way and simply say that LANGUAGE with its ABSTRACT TOOLS of NAMING and GRAMMAR allows us how to CONSTRUCT A SUBSTITUTE REALITY based on NOTIONAL THINGS (thanks to NAMING) and the actions and developments THEY AUTHOR (thanks to GRAMMAR). This SUBSTITUTE REALITY conjures up visual pictures in our mind which provides us with a means of “EFFABLE-IZING” and thus rendering SHAREABLE, REPRESENTATIONS of our sense-experiences (of inclusion within the ineffable transforming relational continuum).
This, of course, is what LANGUAGE is all about, but there is AN EXPOSURE here, wherein this tool we have developed to serve up CRUDE SUBSTITUTE REALITY REPRESENTATIONS of INEFFABLE SENSE-EXPERIENCE REALITY, … RUNS AWAY WITH US, and starts PUTTING US INSIDE THIS SUBSTITUTE REALITY whereupon the SUBSTITUTE REALITY “TAKES OVER” as the “OPERATIVE REALITY”. For example, in spite of the REALITY that we are INCLUDED within the TRANSFORMING RELATIONAL CONTINUUM aka the WAVE-FIELD aka the Tao, … language allows us to fabricate representations wherein we because the LOCAL AUTHOR of action and development, such as where we speak of having constructed a TOWN on the prairie.
THIS IS BACKWARDS!,… What is really going on here is that we are included within the transforming relational continuum and because we are included our actions can contribute to shaping the unfolding transforming continuum, however, WE ARE NOT SEPARATE FROM AND OUTSIDE THE LANDSCAPE SUCH THAT THERE IS A SUBJECT and OBJECT SPLIT and WE, THE SUBJECT can CHANGE THE OBJECT-LANDSCAPE AS IF THERE WERE A BINARY LOGIC SPLIT BETWEEN SUBJECT and OBJECT. As Schroedinger puts it;
“The world is given to me only once, not one existing and one perceived. Subject and object are only one. The barrier between them cannot be said to have broken down as a result of recent experience in the physical sciences, for this barrier does not exist.” – Erwin Schroedinger
ACHTUNG! WARNING! Our WESTERN CULTURE LANGUAGE employs what Nietzsche calls the DOUBLE ERROR habit of using NAMING and GRAMMAR to impute LOCAL AUTHORING of actions and developments. This “TALK” puts us into a SUBSTITUTE REALITY which employs a BINARY LOGIC based SPLTTING APART of SUBJECT and OBJECT so as to PRESENT or RE-PRESENT the SUBJECT (whatever NAME we enter as SUBJECT) as the GRAMMAR ENABLED AUTHOR of actions and developments. YES, THIS IS A VERY CONVENIENT “SIMPLIFICATION” of REALITY because it lets us FRAGMENT REALITY, … in which case it is no longer REALITY but a FRAGMENTED SUBSTITUTE REALITY, … so that we are able to CHOP REALITY UP INTO MANAGEABLE MOUTHFULS that are ARTICULABLE.
THE EAST (indigenous aboriginal)-WEST LANGUAGE-ARCHITECTURE SPLIT:
NOTE THAT THE INDIGENOUS ABORIGINALS, unlike we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS, EMPLOY A FLOW-BASED LANGUAGE DESIGN, which preserves the QUANTUM LOGIC wherein FIGURE and GROUND are ONE rather than TWO, so where we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS will say that ‘the HURRICANE is stirring up the ATMOSPHERE, which gives the exposure to the ambiguous opposite of ‘the ATMOSPHERE is stirring up the HURRICANE’, … in the EASTERN/INDIGENOUS ABORIGNAL language, ones says the equivalent of ‘there is HURRICANING IN THE ATMOSPHERING’ which preserves the understanding that EVERYTHING IS IN FLUX as is consistent with the WAVE-FIELD understanding of reality aka the Tao.
NOW, BACK TO OUR WESTERN CULTURE PRACTICE of introducing a NOTIONAL “LOCAL AUTHOR” of actions and developments as in this example where we can make it out to be either MALE (the HURRICANE) which we say is ASSERTIVELY STIRRING UP THE ATMOSPHERE, or FEMALE (the ATMOSPHERE which is say is INDUCTIVELY (seductively) STIRRING UP THE HURRICANE). BOTH THE MALE AND FEMALE OPTIONS will work as LOCAL AUTHORS but our WESTERN CULTURE CONVENTION is to go with the MALE option so, for example, we say ‘the AVALANCHE crashed down the mountainside, we make no mention of the CONJUGATE FEMALE OPENING OF A HOLE IN THE LANDSCAPE, even though that is ‘part of the REALITY’ of what is going on. We don’t mention the FEMALE CONJUGATE ASPECT because, while we can express things in LOCAL and EXPLICIT terms with the MALE ASSERTIVE aspect, the FEMALE aspect takes us into the NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT, and this is where Lao Tzu makes the point that ‘the Tao that can be told is not the true Tao’ . Language can only IMPLY the FEMALE ASPECT.

WE NOW HAVE THE BACKGROUND INFORMATION TO POINT OUT SOMETHING THAT IS VERY WRONG WITH OUR WESTERN CULTURE SOCIAL DYNAMIC, AND HOW THIS PROBLEM TIES TO THE “SIMPLIFICATION” WE ARE INJECTING INTO OUR UNDERSTANDING THROUGH THE SIMPLIFICATION (the reduction of the MALE-FEMALE CONJUGATE AS CONVEYS THE WAVE NATURE OF REALITY TO A ONE-SIDED MALE-ONLY SUBSTITUTE REALITY).
For example, what is really going on with the LANDSCAPE is that it is TRANSFORMING, but that TRANSFORMING is NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT because, as our sense-experience informs us, we are INCLUDED IN THE ALL-INCLUDING WAVE-FIELD AKA THE TRANSFORMING RELATIONAL CONTINUUM.
I am speaking of our sense-experience REALITY as is consistent with MODERN PHYSICS which because of its WAVE-FIELD nature, involves a MALE-FEMALE CONJUGATE DYNAMIC which is the all-including TRANSFORMATION that we can’t directly talk about because of the LIMITATIONS OF LANGUAGE since TRANSFORMATION IS EVERYWHERE AT THE SAME TIME. * * * HERE IS WHERE WE WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS HAVE BEEN “PULLING A FAST ONE” by developing LANGUAGE that FRAGMENTS REALITY by selectively splitting out the MALE ASSERTIVE aspect of TRANSFORMATION and simply IGNORING, AS FAR AS LANGUAGE CAPTURE GOES, THE FEMALE CONJUGATE. THIS IS EXEMPLIFIED WHERE WE SPEAK OF “THE AVALANCHE” WHICH IS THE MALE ASSERTIVE ASPECT WITHOUT MENTION OF “THE CONJUGATE FEMALE HOLE” WHICH WE WOULD NEED TO INCLUDE IN OUR REPRESENTATION IF WE HOPE TO CAPTURE WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON WHICH IS “TRANSFORMATION” OF THE OVERALL LANDSCAPE.
* * * THIS ‘NEGLECT’ OR ‘DROPOUT’ OF THE FEMALE ASPECT HAS BEEN COMING BACK TO “HAUNT US” WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS. .
For example, our talk in the one-sided MALE ASSERTIVE terms of GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION, … says NOTHING about the TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE which is the PRIMARY REALITY, … so in other words, we humans are included in the TRANSFORMING and there is an intuitive AESTHETIC that is FELT in such inclusion that can shape our actions, so long as we do not OVER-POWER IT with our INTELLECTUAL REASONING. In other words, there is a NATURAL priority here of the intuitive relational aesthetic wherein we understand ourselves as being included in a NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT relational dynamic greater than ourselves, over the intellectual rational construction which is LOCAL and EXPLICIT wherein we impute to ourselves LOCAL AUTHORING POWERS..
As EMERSON points out, we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS have been letting the TOOL of INTELLECTUAL REASONING ….. RUN AWAY WITH THE WORKMAN, THE HUMAN WITH THE DIVINE. OUR HUMAN FORMS, in WESTERN CULTURE THINKING, have developed in MALE ASSERTIVE MODE from a FERTILIZED OVUM, IMAGERY that is PURELY LOCAL, MALE ASSERTING as if the containing SPACE that the local HUMAN is blossoming out within, IS JUST EMPTY SPACE THAT IS A NON-PARTICIPANT, … the LOCAL INSIDE-OUTWARD MALE ASSERTING being the FULL STORY (i.e. a far cry from matter condensing within the electromagnetic field).
The DROP OUT OF THE FEMALE CONJUGATE IN WESTERN CULTURE LANGUAGE DISCOURSE
This is WHERE WE WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS STAND AT THE MOMENT, and this can be understood in terms of our having DROPPED OUT THE FEMALE CONJUGATE so that we could exploit the GREATER SIMPLICITY OF THE MALE ASSERTIVE ON ITS OWN and thus fashion language based representations such as that of the AVALANCHE which, because we consider only the MALE ASSERTIVE aspect, is representable in language in LOCAL and EXPLICIT terms.
“GENETIC DETERMINATION” has served to PLUG THE HOLE and PURPORT TO answer the question WHERE DID ALL THIS COMPLEXITY as manifests in the HUMAN FORM COME FROM? The WESTERN CULTURE ANSWER HAS BEEN, … FROM GENETIC INFORMATION STORED WITHIN THE CELLS AND PASSED ON THROUGH RE-PRODUCTION. The CHALLENGE in explaining the material structure and the behaviour of a HUMAN “BEING” leads to the NATURE OR NURTURE AMBIGUITY as to whether the manifest characteristics of behaviour and health are INSIDE-OUTWARDLY INFORMED BY GENETICS OR OUTSIDE-INWARDLY INFORMED BY THE ENVIRONMENT. NEITHER OF THESE OPTIONS NEED BE CONSIDERED IN UNDERSTANDING HUMANINGS AS CONDENSATIONS OF THE ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD which is the general case for understanding material forms.
That is, in observing a CLUSTERING around a drop of honey, due to variations in the arrivals and departures of ants (who gather to fetch honey and scatter back to feed their children etc) the CLUSTER successively GROWS and SHRINKS as the ants gather and scatter. While our language expresses what is going on here in terms of the CLUSTER GROWING AND SHRINKING, there is no such thing as a CLUSTER that is the AUTHOR of its GROWTH and SHRINKAGE; that is just the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR. We should therefore remember to use the verb “CLUSTERING” and avoid giving the MISIMPRESSION that there is a LOCAL ORGANISM THERE (the CULSTER) that has its own power of AUTHORING its own GROWTH and SHRINKAGE. It is simply as RESONANCE FEATURE. This raises the question as to how often we may be applying NAMES to resonance features and using GRAMMAR to impute to them POWERS OF LOCAL AUTHORING of actions and developments. This question becomes all the more important as we address the implications of MATTER being a CONDENSATION of the ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD so that it is no longer the LOCAL FORM that is the SEAT OF AUTHORING of ACTIONS and DEVELOPMENTS. Instead, “THE FIELD” becomes the mother of MATERIAL FORMS and their ACTIONS and DEVELOPMENTS.
This above observation, the FIELD is the mother of the THINGS in the FIELD and THEIR BEHAVIOURS fits with the observations of psychiatrists that PSYCHOLOGICAL STRESS FIELD that the individual is in may explain an individual’s ‘breakdown’ rather than some local authoring source within the individual;
For example, research by Cochrane and Sashidharan shows that the incidence of schizophrenia in non-native born blacks in the U.K. is 3-5 times higher than native born blacks. As these researchers point out, this effect cannot be due to genetic difference or other sources within the individual. Their point is that a science that studies ‘mental illness’ is not going to explain what is going on in this case, a study of mental health (which extends the realm of investigation to include the social dynamic the individual is situationally included in) would instead be required.
From the outset it will be clear that most of the research in this field has followed the conventional epidemiological or medical paradigm by focusing on mental ill health as the dependent variable. It is, therefore, not surprising that there is a lack of empirically grounded research on mental well-being or the psychological resilience and survival of minority groups in this country” — R. Cochrane (University of Birmingham) and S. P. Sashidharan (North Birmingham Mental Health Trust) in ‘Mental Health and Ethnic Minorities’
What is under scrutiny here, in effect, is the QUESTION OF LOCAL-and-EXPLICIT AND NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT INFLUENCES on our perceptions of reality. In the case of the AVALANCHE, we can limit our analysis to the LOCAL and EXPLICIT or open it up to the NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT (TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE) raising questions as to what is deserving of the classification ‘REALITY’.
NOW, the INDIGENOUS ABORIGINAL APPROACH TO LANGUAGE preserves the understanding of the all-including TRANSFORMATION aka RELATIONAL FLUX, by avoiding any HARD USE of the LOCAL and EXPLICIT and giving the FOUNDATIONAL ROLE to FLOW so that while we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS will say that WE SAW the AVALANCHE CRASHING DOWN THE SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN, … the INDIGENOUS ABORIGINAL and EASTERN VERSION will say… THERE IS AVALANCHING IN THE TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE which includes inference of both the ASSERTING MALE in conjunction with the FILLING of the FEMALE HOLE, these ‘complex conjugates’ of LOCAL-and-EXPLICIT in conjugate relation with the NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT give an understanding in terms of a TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE.

EAST: There is AVALANCHING in the TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE (is NONLOCAL and RELATIONAL and employs both MALE and FEMALE in conjugate relation)
WEST: The AVALANCHE crashed down the mountainside and DESTROYED the village (employs LOCAL and EXPLICIT one-sided MALE ASSERTING).
There is no question that both of these modes of expression, the NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT and the LOCAL and EXPLICIT are valuable in our language based representing of sense-experience reality, and also, that there is a natural priority here in that if we give the foundational role to the NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE, we can add in the LOCAL and EXPLICIT to complement and deepen our language based informing on ‘reality’. However, if we START with the LOCAL and EXPLICIT, we construct a SUBSTITUTE REALITY which sits within an abstract emptiness of infinite extent. In other words, we see the AVALANCHE as a great pile of rocks on its own, out of the context of the TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE for which we would need to comprehend, at the same time, the HOLE OPENING UP on the mountain flank which is altering the overall LANDFORM.
If we ‘put on our LANGUAGE ARCHITECT HAT’ for a moment, we can see that the MALE ASPECT of the COMPLEX CONJUGATE physical event (the female opening of a hole that is conjugate with the male assertive extruding of a great pile of rocks) is SIMPLE to express because it is LOCAL and EXPLICIT which lends itself to the NAME and GRAMMAR combination; i.e. the AVALANCHE crashes down the mountainside. That part is easy because it is limited in both SPACE and TIME.
UH OH!… when it comes to the HOLE OPENING UP IN THE TERRAIN, things are not so clean and tidy because now we would have to capture how the TERRAIN has changed and the TERRAIN goes on and on and on, … and as far as the aspect of TIME, it is not even definable because this TRANFORMATION is continuing and it is the composite of SPACE and TIME as is the nature of the WAVE-FIELD where space and time are bound up together. We would have to overcome the reality that as the AVALANCHE moves down the MOUNTAIN into the VALLEY, it is no longer the same MOUNTAIN nor is it the same VALLEY, in fact there is a WAVE-FIELD nature to the two which renders their MALE ASSERTIVE and FEMALE RECEPTIVE aspects AS JUST ONE REALITY under the common banner of the TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE.
We are in the same difficult plight as when we have to use language to describe that development and movement of a sand dune in the desert when we know THE DUNE IS NOT REALLY A LOCAL THING WITH ITS OWN POWER OF AUTHORING ITS OWN DEVELOPMENT AND MOVEMENT, but we nevertheless say that ‘The DUNE is growing longer and higher and is shifting to the south”. WAIT A MINUTE, THIS ‘DUNING’ IS A RESONANCE PHENOMENA THAT IS INNATELY NONLOCAL AND IMPLICIT (RELATION) so all this talk in terms of a LOCAL (naming-instantiated) THING-IN-ITSELF with its own notional GRAMMAR-GIVEN powers of LOCAL AUTHORING of actions and developments is OUR LANGUAGE-based CONSTRUCTION OF A SUBSTITUTE REALITY where we are bringing relational forms in the flow (the WAVE-FIELD, the GREAT HARMONY, the Tao) into REBIRTH within this SUBSTITUTE REALITY where we cast them as LOCAL EXPLICIT THINGS-IN-THEMSELVES moving about within a notional ABSOLUTE EMPTINESS OF INFINITE EXTENT aka within a Euclidian space reference frame.
IN SHORT, WE WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS ARE IN THE HABIT OF REDUCING RELATIONAL FORMS IN THE FLOW TO LOCAL THINGS-IN-THEMSELVES WITH GRAMMAR-GIVEN POWERS OF AUTHORING THEIR OWN BEHAVIOUR AND DEVELOPMENT. THIS GETS US OUT OF THE PROBLEM THAT THE REALITY OF OUR SENSE-EXPERIENCE IS UNBOUNDED IN SPACETIME SINCE EVERYTHING IS INCLUDED WITHIN THE TRANSFORMING RELATIONAL CONTINUUM AKA THE WAVE-FIELD AKA THE TAO.
* * * WE WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS, MEANWHILE, … EMPLOY THE MALE ASSERTIVE CONJUGATE “ON ITS OWN” AND SIMPLY “DROP OUT AND IGNORE” THE FAMALE CONJUGATE WHICH INFORMS US ON THE NONLOCAL AND IMPLICIT ASPECT OF THE TRANSFORMING RELATIONAL CONTINUUM. IN OTHER WORDS, WE WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS CONSTRUCT A MALE-ASPECT ONLY “SUBSTITUTE REALITY” THAT WE EMPLOY AS OUR “OPERATIVE REALTIY”.
This is where we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS are SCREWING UP by this FRAGMENTING of REALITY since it is the FEMALE ASPECT of the NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT that binds everything together.
How are we to get back to the TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE after we have FRAGMENTED it into MALE ASSERTIVE FRAGMENTS such as the AVALANCHE that we portray as a separate THING that crashes down the mountainside. How will we get back from that SUBSTITUTE REALITY, back to the real SENSE-EXPERIENCE reality of INCLUSION IN TRANFORMATION?
We might further ask, …. WHY DO WE PERSIST IN GIVING THIS REDUCTIVE SUBSTITUTE REALITY PRIORITY STATUS as our OPERATIVE REALITY? A Nietzsche and other philosophers have pointed out, the answer to that is EGO because EGO is tied to the abstract concept of LOCAL AUTHORING which is nothing other than the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR as Nietzsche points out.
LOCAL AUTHORING is the HOLY RITE in which the holy grail of EGO resides. SHHHH! DON’T MENTION ZEE DOUBLE ERROR OF NAMING AND GRAMMAR!

SUMMARY: The WEST-EAST REALITY SPLIT: PROGRESS VERSUS TRANSFORMATION
Our WESTERN CULTURE language architecture REDUCES our sense-experience reality to a SUBSTITUTE REALITY based on LOCAL, EXPLICIT “FIGURES: in a notional SEPARATE and INDEPENDENT “GROUND” as based on BINARY LOGIC. Our sense-experience reality requires QUANTUM LOGIC which is BALANCE based wherein FIGURE and GROUND are only ONE as in the relation between MATTER and FIELD where MATTER is a CONDENSATION OF THE ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD.
THANKS TO (or NO THANKS TO) the ABSTRACTION of BINARY LOGIC built into our WESTERN CULTURE language based construction of SUBSTITUTE REALITY, we are able to split apart the MALE ASSERTIVE from the CONJUGATE FEMALE ACCOMMODATIVE and abandon the FEMALE which is NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT. By retaining only the LOCAL and EXPLICIT we can construct a MALE ASSERTIVE SUBSTITUTE REALITY which has become our WESTERN CULTURE “OPERATIVE REALITY”, thus we MISTAKENLY regard the one-sided MALE ASSERTIVE ABSTRACTIONS OF GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION as “REAL” although THEY ARE ONLY REAL WITHIN AN ALL-MALE-ASSERTIVE SUBSTITUTE REALITY where the FEMALE CONJUGATE has been REPLACED by an ABSOLUTE EMPTY AND INFINITE (EUCLIDEAN) SPACE. Now we can consider GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION … OUT OF THE CONTEXT OF the TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE (no wonder the indigenous aboriginals are upset). The FEMALE CONJUGATE has, in effect, been replaced by an ABSOLUTE, INFINITE EMPTINESS (Euclidean Space) enabling an ALL MALE-ASSERTIVE SUBSTITUTE REALITY CONSTRUCTION that we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS are using as our OPERATIVE REALITY.
Since our MALE ASSERTIVE PROPOSITIONS such as GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION are no longer HELD TOGETHER by the FEMALE CONJUGATE which is the NONLOCAL and RELATIONAL aspect that keeps everything IN BALANCE as in QUANTUM LOGIC, we are free to use the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR to impute LOCAL AUTHORING wherever and however we like, which is the source of increasing FRAGMENTATION that ends up being both PHYSICAL and PSYCHOLOGICAL, as Bohm has pointed out. He does not mince his words; I will recopy his statement here for easy reference;
FRAGMENTATION AND WHOLENESS (from Wholeness and the Implicate Order by David Bohm)
The title of this chapter is ‘Fragmentation and wholeness’. It is especially important to consider this question today, for fragmentation is now very widespread, not only throughout society, but also in each individual; and this is leading to a kind of general confusion of the mind, which creates an endless series of problems and interferes with our clarity of perception so seriously as to prevent us from being able to solve most of them.
Thus art, science, technology, and human work in general, are divided up into specialities, each considered to be separate in essence from the others. Becoming dissatisfied with this state of affairs, men have set up further interdisciplinary subjects, which were intended to unite these specialities, but these new subjects have ultimately served mainly to add further separate fragments. Then, society as a whole has developed in such a way that it is broken up into separate nations and different religious, political, economic, racial groups, etc. Man’s natural environment has correspondingly been seen as an aggregate of separately existent parts, to be exploited by different groups of people. Similarly, each individual human being has been fragmented into a large number of separate and conflicting compartments, according to his different desires, aims, ambitions, loyalties, psychological characteristics, etc., to such an extent that it is generally accepted that some degree of neurosis is inevitable, while many individuals going beyond the ‘normal’ limits of fragmentation are classified as paranoid, schizoid, psychotic, etc
So, we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS are suffering from the dysfunction of dropping out the FEMALE CONJUGATE in our language architecture (to make language simpler by just going with the MALE ASSERTIVE aspect) and the DYSFUNCTION this engenders is now “LOCKED IN BY HIGH SWITCHING COSTS” being that it brings with the ERRONEOUS ABSTRACT notion of LOCAL AUTHORING which is all MALE ASSERTIVE, the inflated EGO. The FEMALE aspect of INSPIRATION has thus tended to be SHUT OUT by our one-sided MALE ASSERTIVE commitment to GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION.
Where there is MALE ASSERTIVE CONTENTION, EGO can lead to HEAD-BUTTING IMPASSE, however, the FEMALE OPENING of an enlarged possibility space can inspire resolution; EGO SWELLS THE HEAD WHILE INSPIRATION FILLS THE HEART.
Because our WESTERN CULTURE REWARD AND RECOGNITION SYSTEMS are ONE-SIDEDLY BASED ON MALE ASSERTIVE ACHIEVEMENT, our sensitivity to and our engaging within TRANSFORMATION as in our inclusion within the transforming relational continuum, tends to get lost and become the DEA ABSCONDITA as we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS get the bit in our teeth in our pursuit of GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION, … and in the process, lose touch with the FEMALE CONJUGATE of our inclusion in TRANSFORMATION. While locking in to the MALE ASSERTIVE stance would ‘make sense’ if we lived in an absolute space of infinite extent where there is no FEMALE CONJUGATE, locking in to the MALE ASSERTIVE DOES NOT MAKE SENSE BECAUSE we LIVE IN A SPHERICAL SPACE (a WAVE-FIELD SPACE) where the FEMALE CONJUGATE actually exists and if we IGNORE HER as we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS are currently in the habit of doing, ‘SHE’ is coming back to HAUNT US and we will pay a price for our abandonment of CONJUGATE (male-female) BALANCE as in QUANTUM LOGIC reality.
The point is that while GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION are all LOCAL and EXPLICIT ONE-SIDED MALE-ASSERTIVE CONCEPTS, while this makes sense within a SUBSTITUTE REALITY based on the BINARY LOGIC of LOCAL, EXPLICIT MATERIAL THINGS-IN-THEMSELVES moving about and interacting in a notional ABSOLUTE EMPTY SPACE OF INFINITE EXTENT, we ARE IN ACTUAL SENSE-EXPERIENCE FACT, residing within THE TRANSFORMING RELATIONAL CONTINUUM in which case everything is included within a field of relational interdependence. In other words, there is nothing LOCAL, and EXPLICIT in this sense-experience reality, there is only the NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT.
An alternative way of expressing this is that the LOCAL, EXPLICIT concepts of GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION DO NOT LIVE IN THE REAL WORLD OF SENSE-EXPERIENCE, they are abstractions that live ONLY IN THE BINARY LOGIC based SUBSTITUTE REALITY where MATTER and SPACE are TWO MUTUALLY EXCLUDING ONTOLOGICAL REALMS. We WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS are incurring dysfunction by using the SUBSTITUTE REALITY in which GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION * * * APPEAR * * * TO BE REAL, but which is NOT SENSE-EXPERIENCE GROUNDED, as our OPERATIVE REALITY. The result is that while TRANSFORMATION is what is REALLY occurring, it is occurring outside of the intellectual-cognitive ‘radar screen’ focus on GROWTH DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION. Those working in the lumber yard accept the RATIONAL view of things where the production of lumber can continue to rise in a linear fashion, as is the way RATIONAL thought works because it is implicitly Euclidean space based, without any real-time awareness of the conjugate SHRINKAGE of forested Wilderness as is occurring in the SPHERICAL SPACE of our sense-experience.
That is, in spherical space there are MALE-FEMALE conjugates so that the GROWTH of cultivated land is, at the same time, the SHRINKAGE of WILDERNESS, and these two taken together constitute TRANSFORMATION. Note that in an absolute space of infinite extent (Euclidean space), the increasing RATIO of cultivated land would NOT ENTAIL A CONJUGATE SHRINKING of WILDERNESS and that RATIO would continue to apply so that the GROWTH of cultivated land would continue, linearly because the RATIO is with respect to itself on a FLAT PLANE of INFINITE EXTENT, whereas in the space on the surface of a sphere, there is a MALE-FEMALE CONJUGATE RELATION so that the GROWTH of the CULTIVATED LAND involves a CONJUGATE SHRINKAGE of WILDERNESS, these two together constituting TRANSFORMATION of the overall space.
This can lead to (and is leading to) CONFUSION. While indigenous aboriginal culture adherents recognize colonizer’s GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION, not as GROWTH DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION…. but as TRANSFORMATION since they are grounding their understanding in the QUANTUM LOGIC of SPHERICAL SPACE (the SPHERICAL SPACE ASSUMPTION = QUANTUM LOGIC). WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS are meanwhile understanding GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION , all of which are LINEAR RATIO based abstractions, AS REAL. However, they are only REAL within a simplified, abstract SUBSTITUTE REALITY based on BINARY LOGIC where FIGURE and GROUND are seen as TWO DIFFERENT ONTOLOGICAL ENTITIES, allowing the FIGURE to GROW, DEVELOP and PRODUCE independently of the GROUND. Without this abstract set-up, GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION would not be possible. As it happens, FIGURE and GROUND are NOT TWO SEPARATE AND DISTINCT ONTOLOGICAL ENTITIES as shown by matter being a condensation of the electromagnetic field, so that GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION ARE NOT REAL. THERE IS ONLY TRANSFORMATION within sense-experience reality.
In our WESTERN CULTURE, there is much PRIDE in PROGRESS, but as the above exploration shows, there is no such thing as GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION which are cited as evidence of PROGRESS (there is only TRANSFORMATION). We now know that the reality that is sense experience informed is TRANSFORMATION-THAT-WE-ARE-INCLUDED-IN and not something WE HAVE AUTHORED. Since we are included in the transforming relational continuum, we cannot claim to have AUTHORED ANYTHING but our actions as included relational forms, have RELATIONAL influence in the continually unfolding TRANSFORMATION.
WE WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENT MAY SAY; LOOK AT THE WONDERFUL SKYSCRAPER WE AUTHORED OR THAT ROCKET TRIP TO THE MOON WE AUTHORED, … these are REAL MATERIAL ACHIEVEMENTS, but only within the SUBSTITUTE REALITY. The “REAL” reality is TRANSFORMATION, the WAVE-FIELD manifestation and it is ALL-INCLUDING so that the manner in which anyone’s actions impact TRANSFORMATION is what is most significant rather than those actions abstractly seen as LOCALLY AUTHORED ACTIONS. It is important to recall that the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR plays the foundational role in constructing the abstractions of GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION.
This is currently ‘where we are’, struggling within a naturally complex conjugate physical sense-experience reality, while using a language that, in order to represent it, is chopping it down to a one-sided MALE-ASSERTIVE-ONLY SUBSTITUTE REALITY. Consequently, FRAGMENTATION IS UPON US BIG TIME!
