David Bohm suggests that we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS are shifting emphasis in the directing of our actions from INTELLIGENCE to RATIONAL INTELLECTION.  While INTELLIGENCE may give us a deeper and more profound understanding of unfolding events, RATIONAL INTELLECTION makes use of the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR to imply LOCAL SOURCING of actions and developments.  As Bohm points out, the death of Abraham Lincoln can INTELLIGENTLY be understood as drawing from the transforming relational continuum, from the unfolding dynamics of society including its inventions of gunpowder and pistols.

As indigenous aboriginal cultures likewise point out, the violent act of murder or rape derives from the ongoing relational dynamics of community where ‘mitakuye oyasin’ (everything is related) is the reality so that a HEALING CIRCLE assembled for the purpose of recultivating harmony in the social-relational matrix is more appropriate than the identification and elimination of a notional ‘pathogenic source’.  That is, the point of the eruption is not assumed to be the LOCAL SOURCE of the pathology.  In fact, NO SOURCE IS ASSUMED.  As in modern physics, the operative dynamic is understood as TRANSFORMATION which is all-including. The challenge is therefore to restore and restore relational balance and harmony.     The WESTERN concept of LOCAL SOURCING of actions and developments has its origin in EGO and is conceptualized in language via the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR.

The following note explores how we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS are, as Bohm suggests, falling into the trap of using RATIONAL INTELLECTION as if it were our only interpretive tool, leaving INTELLIGENCE behind in the background.  RATIONAL INTELLECTION pursues understanding or unfolding reality in a LOCAL SOURCING sense as captured with the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR as associates with PRODUCTION/CREATION and CONSUMPTION/DESTRUCTION, whereas INTELLIGENCE understands dynamics in terms of relational TRANSFORMATION.  While RATIONAL INTELLECTION sees the GROWTH of the TOWN, INTELLIGENCE understands TRANSFORMATION of the landscape including the SHRINKAGE of the Wilderness.

ARE WE WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS INVERTING THE NATURAL PRECEDENCE OF INTELLIGENCE OVER RATIONAL INTELLECTION?

Bohm’s suggestion is YES, as is supported by this sensory-experience-based philosophical-intuitive investigation.

Imagine a landscape in a time of turmoil where people are scattering and gathering wherein at a particular location where people are scattering and gathering, there appears a TOWN that continues to GROW in size even though it is only a relative scattering and gathering place.   We may use the word TOWN to point to this ‘scatter-gather’ apparition and even speak of the GROWTH of the TOWN although what is really going on in is that the entire LANDSCAPE is in a continual condition of TRANSFORMATION and the notion of the LOCAL EXISTENCE of a TOWN and ‘its GROWTH’ is secondary to the gathering and scattering in the landscape in turmoil.  As in the central courtyard of a busy shopping mall, there may be a persisting crowd of people but that persisting ‘thing’ is just illusion deriving from ceaseless gathering and scattering.  We may NAME it ‘THE CENTRAL COURTYARD CROWD’ and say that IT IS GROWING as if it were a LOCAL thing-in-itself with its own powers of SOURCING actions and development although it is a relational scattering-gathering.,

The following discussion explores how our WESTERN CULTURE rational intellection uses language to construct abstract conceptualizations of reality that we have been increasingly substituting for our intelligence based understanding.   As David Bohm points out, ‘rational intellection’ is a reduced way of understanding than ‘intuition’ and ‘intelligence’; e.g.  our intelligence can inform us of inclusion in TRANSFORMATION which is NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT while rational intellection can only reach as far as PRODUCTION and CONSUMPTION (GROWTH and REDUCTION) which is LOCAL and EXPLICIT.

There are problems with our WESTERN CULTURE habit of shifting our understanding of reality increasingly onto the basis of RATIONAL INTELLECTION wherein the abstraction of GROWTH deceptively replaces TRANSFORMATION.

The belief in GROWTH of a TOWN or FARM (as in the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR) is a RATIO-NAL psychological BIPOLAR DISORDER that displaces in the psyche, the sensory experience reality as inclusion in TRANSFORMATION.

We have all ‘seen’ towns grow, extended by new shopping centres and growing suburbs etc.  and there is the sense that we humans are the PRODUCERS of this GROWTH as we show on documentaries where we are many of us actively pursuing the construction of houses and high rises.

WE are responsible for the GROWTH of the TOWN in a PRODUCER-PRODUCT sense, but the question is, a is our language ‘documenting’ what is ‘actually going on’, or is our language CONSTRUCTING A CONCEPTUAL REALITY?

IF WE WERE TO INCLUDE OURSELVES in this transforming relational continuum, then the primary reality would be the all-including transforming relational continuum (aka the Wave-field aka the Tao).

But our habit is to invoke the INHABITANT-and-HABITAT SPLIT aka the FIGURE-and-GROUND SPLIT and in the story of the humans who are responsible for the development and GROWTH of the TOWN.  This is described by BOHM as the RATIO-NAL view where we identify a form in the transforming relational continuum, give it a NAME to impute to notional LOCAL THING-IN-ITSELF-BEING, then use GRAMMAR to give it its own powers of SOURCING actions and development e.g. ‘the TOWN is growing larger and developing more numerous and diverse structures.

ONCE WE CONSTRUCT THIS ILLUSION OF THE “GROWTH” OF THE “TOWN”, WE HAVE LOST SIGHT OF THE TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE IN WHICH THE “TOWN” IS AN INCLUDED FEATURE.

WE CAN’T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS; I.E. REALITY IS EITHER THE TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE (CONTINUUM) OR THE TOWN THAT IS GROWING.

NOTE THAT OUR FOCUS ON THE TOWN THAT IS GROWING DEFINES ‘RATIO’ AND ‘RATIONALITY’  which is useful for discursive purposes because it allows us to ADDRESS CHANGE LOCALLY whereas TRANSFORMATION is NONLOCAL and is therefore INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT, but is meanwhile the REALITY of our sensory experience of inclusion therein.

EFFABLE REPRESENTATIONS of REALITY are in the form of reductions to the LOCAL and EXPLICIT as when we apply the DOUBLE ERROR to the hurricaning (relational forming within the transforming relational continuum) and use NAMING to come up with ‘the HURRICANE’ together with GRAMMAR to impute the power of SOURCING actions and development to the NAMING-instantiated thing-in-itself; hence ‘the HURRICANE is growing larger and stronger and is ravaging New Orleans’.

Ambiguity arises since, by giving the HURRICANE independent thing-in-itself status by NAMING it and animating it with GRAMMAR, the FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE landscape of the ATMOSPHERE featuring the HURRICANING is reduced from one landscape with a bump in it, thanks to the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR to TWO things, the FIGURE of the moving bump, and the GROUND… OVER WHICH THE FIGURE IS MOVING.    NAMING and GRAMMAR wise, there physics reality of FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE is reduced to FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO where we use GRAMMAR to describe how the FIGURE moves OVER the GROUND as if the FIGURE is a LOCAL and INDEPENDENT thing-in-itself, separate from the GROUND.

The AMBIGUITY comes in here in the sense of does the HURRICANE stir up the ATMOSPHERE or does the ATMOSPHERE stir up the HURRICANE.

We didn’t have this AMBIGUITY so as we understood FIGURE-and-GROUND as ONE where the HURRICANE was a feature within the flow of the atmosphere, rather than a ‘LOCAL, SEPARATE THING-IN-ITSELF, notionally with ITS OWN POWERS OF SOURCING ACTIONS and DEVELOPMENT.

If we now impute that the HURRICANE can stir up the ATMOSPHERE, by the symmetry of our grammar we unleash the AMBIGUOUS polar opposite wherein the ATMOSPHERE can stir up the HURRICANE.  This is the source of psychological BIPOLAR DISORDER in WESTERN CULTURE and it manifests in many unfoldings including the emergence of the conservative – liberal BIPOLAR DISORDER.  In this case, once TRANSFORMATION is replaced by substituting LOCAL SOURCING, in the case of a social collective the AMBIGUITY arises as to whether the actions of an individual SOURCES the organizing of the social collective or whether the organizing of the social collective SOURCES the actions of the individual.   “Does the man make the times’?  or ‘Do the times make the man?’  (for ‘times’ read ‘stirring of the social dynamic’).

In understanding reality as TRANSFORMATION, there is no LOCAL SOURCING and thus no AMBIGUITY arises that can cultivate BIPOLAR DISORDER.

LOCAL SOURCING is supported by RATIO and RATIONAL THINKING, and this is an intellectual technique that SUBSTITUTES for having to deal with TRANSFORMATION which is ineffable-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT. In order to ‘get effable’ and start using language to community our experiencing of reality, even if in a reduced representation, we orient to reductions to the EFFABLE-because-LOCAL-and-EXPLICIT.  This is where the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING-and-GRAMMAR comes in, where NAMING imputes LOCAL thing-in-itself BEING and GRAMMAR conflates the FIRST ERROR with the SECOND ERROR of GRAMMAR that imputes the power of LOCAL SOURCING to the NAMING-instantiated (motional) thing-in-itself.

TRANSFORMATION manifesting as FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE as when the atmosphere is HURRICANING, … is substituted for by employing NAMING and GRAMMAR to impute FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO and now we have the FIGURE called HURRICANE which GRAMMAR gives the power of stirring  up the GROUND called ATMOSPHERE.   The HURRICANE is now a PRODUCER of PRODUCTS or the CAUSE of EFFECTS, so we take psychological constructing of reality, with such language and grammar, OUT OF SENSORY EXPERIENCE OF INCLUSION IN TRANSFORMATION into a mechanistic producer—product based REPRESENTATION of REALITY.

PRODUCTION and CONSUMPTION in place of TRANSFORMATION is the source of BIPOLAR DISORDER.

What we are grappling with here is the INEFFABLE nature of the transforming relational continuum and what we have to do to find a what to EFFABLE-ize at least something that alludes tin the INEFFABLE, so that we can effable-ize and share some allusions to our actual sensory experience of inclusion in the Wave-field aka the Tao.

The DOUBLE ERROR is one such technique whereby we can conjure up a representation based on PRODUCTION and CONSUMPTION as a ‘substitute’ for TRANSFORAMATION.  Examples include GROWTH and DECLINE.   We can speak about the GROWTH and DECLINE of the TOWN which lets us avoid having to deal with the unbounded (INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLIICIT because purely relational) TRANFORMING LANDSCAPE which includes the TOWNING feature, … and instead use the RATIO-NAL INTELLECTION to construct a pseudo-reality in terms of the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING (the TOWN) and GRAMMAR (the TOWN is GROWING).

NOTE THAT THE PRIMARY REALIT IS THE TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE, … while the conceptualizaiton of ‘the TOWN GROWING’ is DOUBLE ERROR abstraction.

The DOUBLE ERROR abstraction is a very useful tool for inferring, in terms that are EFFABLE-because-LOCAL-and-EXPLICIT, the reality of our sensory experience which is INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT.

While this DOUBLE ERROR tool is only fit for constructing pseudo-realities worthy of triggering in our minds a leap from the RATIONAL to the INTELLIGENT (as Bohm points out), our WESTERN CULTURE mistake is to employ the DOUBLE ERROR reduction as the OPERATIVE REALITY.   So we invest in the GROWTH of the TOWN as if that were reality when the reality is instead, TRANSFORMATION Of the landscape (the relational continuum).

DISCUSSION:  The above description outlines how we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS construct an abstract DOUBLE ERROR reduction based pseudo-reality consistent with Newtonian physics that serves as the WESTERN CULTURE OPERATIVE REALITY, and SUBSTITUTES for the reality of our sensual experience of inclusion in the transforming relational continuum.

Indigenous aboriginal cultures, Taoism/Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta understand as reality, the transforming relational continuum, consistent with modern physics.

My philosophical investigations delve into the dysfunctions arising within WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENCY from employing the DOUBLE ERROR reduction based pseudo-reality as the operative reality rather than as INEFERENCE of reality that les beyond LOCAL, EXPLICIT capture.

For example, TRANSFORMATION is reality although it is NONLOCAL, IMPLICIT and thus INEFFABLE; e.g. the HURRICANING of the ATMOSPHERE is where FIGURE and GROUND are ONE while WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENCY, employing the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR, substitutes are reality construction wherein FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-TWO so that he HURRICANE is portrayed as an independent FIGURE with its own (GRAMMAR-given) powers of sourcing actions and development.

Similarly, TOWNING is a relational feature within the transforming relational continuum wherein FIGURE (TOWNING) and GROUND (TRANSFORMING relational continuum) are ONE, although we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS will substitute the FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO construction of ‘the TOWN” that we portray as an independent FIGURE with its own (GRAMMAR-given) powers of sourcing actions and development.

AGAIN, the problem does not lie with these abstract FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO reductions themselves, PROBLEMS ARISE (BIPOLAR DISORDER) where we employ these FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO REDUCTIONS as SUBSTITUTE REALITIES, rather than as INFERENCES of the INEFFABLE FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE transforming relational continuum reality.

In the above examples, there is TOWNING and there is HURRICANING in the TRANSFORMATION (the Wave-field, the Tao) but there are no TOWNS and HURRICANES with ‘their own’ LOCAL powers of SOURCING GROWTH and DEVELOPMENT.

SUCH TALK of NAMING based LOCAL things-in-themselves with GRAMMAR based powers of SOURCING actions and developments enables intellectual conceptualizing wherein the social collective can share ALLUSIONS to the INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT TRANSFORMAITON which is all-including.

Within the TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE there is TOWNING and the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR that allows us come up with conceptualizing that incorporates the abstractions of LOCAL and EXPLICIT such ‘the TOWN is GROWING larger and more active’ is a form of LOCAL jumpstart RATIO-cinative CONCEPTUALIZING that is very useful for RATIONAL-INTELLECTUAL sharing, however, it substitutes for and wallpapers over our INTELLIGENCE wherein we understand TOWNING as a relational coherency WITHIN the TRANSFORMING relational continuum.

As Zen adherents have pointed out, the same applies to HUMANING; i.e. it is a relational coherency WITHIN the TRANSFORMING relational continuum.

The TOWNING and the HUMANING are exemplary of FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE as is the nature of Wave-field TRANSFORMATION.

The abstract concept of GROWTH is a RATIO-based abstraction which we pull into play with NAMING and GRAMMAR so as to come up with an EFFABLE-because-LOCAL-and-EXPLICIT conceptualizing that we can substitute for the INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT reality of our sensory experience.

We started off this discussion with the following imagining and we can repeat that to make a summary observation;  The imagining was as follows;

Bohm’s point is, and I would agree, that we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS have been shifting our ‘operative sense of reality’ to rational intellectual reductions, and ‘leaving our INTELLIGENCE behind.  GROWTH may be handy RATIO-based (rational intellection based) abstraction, but GROWTH is NOT REAL.  While we are busy engineering the GROWTH of the TOWN or the INDUSTRY, what is REALLY going on is TRANSFORMATION, and while our INTELLIGENCE understand this, or RATIONAL INTELLECTION tends to have the bit in its teeth and to believe in GROWTH as something REAL and VALUABLE.

We can forget about arguing over whether GROWTH of this or that is BENEFICIAL or DETRIMENTA to our relational social dynamic because GROWTH is NOT REAL, and what is really going on is TRANSFORMATION.  With the context of the TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE which is INEFFABLE-because-NONOCAL-and-IMPLICIT, we may speak of ‘the TOWN GROWING’ which is EFFABLE-because-LOCAL-and-EXPLICIT but if we focus our actions and developments on the LOCAL and EXPLICIT as if this were REALITY, we will be losing touch with the REAL REALITY of the TRANSFORMING RELATIONAL CONTINUUM in which we all share inclusion which is INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT, but innately REAL.

Our WESTERN CULTURE ADHERING ERROR is to mistake the EFFABLE-because-LOCAL and EXPLICIT for the REAL and direct all our attentions and problem solving thereto, leaving the ACTUAL REALITY which is INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT flapping like a loose sheet in a gale.

APPENDIX:NOTES ON REIFICATION: i.e. from TOWNING as resonance to TOWN as in the DOUBLE ERROR.

 

LOCAL SOURCING is something artificial.  RATIO sets up the abstraction of LOCAL, kind of in the same manner as critiqued by Zeno in the paradox of the Arrow etc.    If the Hurricane is TWICE as large today as it was yesterday, this concretizes in us the impression of a LOCAL thing (Hurricane) that is GROWING, but in reality there is only the transforming atmospheric ‘landscape’ (atmosphere-scape).

The concept of GROWTH comes with the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR.   HURRICANING is a GATHERING-SCATTERING within the FLOW, like the TOWNING wherein people are continually GATHERING and SCATTERING and no matter if there are no PERMANENT LOCAL residents, the name TOWN can be imposed together with GRAMMAR to give forth the impression of something LOCAL with ITS OWN POWERS OF SOURCING ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENT; e.g. we say; “the TOWN is growing larger and more active and productive”.  But the reality remains the GATHERING and SCATTERING and there is NOTHING LOCAL other to serve as the SUBJECT of such GROWTH other than an IMPRESSION stimulated by the persistence of a NEXUS of SCATTERING-GATHERING.

The TOWN may be the NEXUS of GATHERING-SCATTERING in which case the imputing of LOCAL BEING and LOCAL SOURCING of actions and developments would be a DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR, as Nietzshe points out.   Furthermore, the CONCEIVING OF GATHERING and SCATTERING a TWO ACTIONS provides a means of LOCALIZING the inherently NONLOCAL DYNAMIC of TRANSFORMATION as in Wave-field based TRANSFORMATION.

In a busy landscape, the GATHERING and SCATTERING of GATHERING-SCATTERING (with the ‘and’) is everywhere, however, in certain cases there are apparent confluences as associate with a watering hole that associates with the temporally spaced GATHERING and SCATTERING of THE SAME animals, giving rise to the impression that the watering hole is a LOCAL SOURCE of water when it is, in reality, included in the overall TRANSFORMATION.   Note that we could paint identifying names or numbers on the individual animals and capture the TIMES of their sequential GATHERING and SCATTERING.

The question arises as to what the significance of the NAMES/NUMBERS is if it is true that “An organism  cannot step into the same waters twice because they are not the same waters and it is not the same organism stepping into them”.  Painting a name or number on an animal imposes an abstract identification on it of same sort as imposing the name KATRINA on a hurricane which is a continual GATHERING-SCATTERING and in no way a LOCAL THING-IN-ITSELF purportedly with “its own powers of SOURCING actions and developments.   It is a GATHERING-SCATTERING aka a RESONANCE FEATURE IN THE FLOW aka the Wavefield aka the Tao.

That is to say, centers of GATHERING and SCATTERING may be intellectually ‘treated’ with the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR  which imputes the EXISTENCE of a LOCAL SOURCE where this is only TRANSFORMATION as manifests as GATHERING-SCATTERING.   Similarly, “TOWNING” as forms from continual GATHERING-SCATTERING then becomes “the LOCAL TOWN” (thanks to NAMING) and is imputed to have its own powers of SOURCING actions and developments (thanks to GRAMMAR).  This is where RATIO-NAL INTELLECTION takes over from TRANFORMATION which manifests as GATHERING-SCATTERING.

What’s important to note here is that TRANSFORMATION is the primary reality but it is INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT (it is the Wave-field dynamic).  While we speak of GATHERING and SCATTERING as associates with TOWNING, where TOWNING is a resonance feature, we then need to reflect on how a LOCAL NEXUS is implied by GATHERING-SCATTERING centers since these are manifesting all over the place as in a Van Gogh STARRY NIGHT scenario and are characteristic of FLOW-FIELDS.  For example, once we start speaking in terms of the TOWNING, our mind kind of goes into LOCAL REALITY-CONSTRUCTING MODE where we start imagining that the TOWN is the SOURCE of SCATTERING AND GATHERING, rather than the SCATTERING and GATHERING being the SOURCE of the TOWNING.

This is where the DOUBLE ERROR enters into the game of intellectual constructions of reality.  The FIRST ERROR is NAMING (the scattering-gathering nexus is designated by “the TOWN”) and the SECOND ERROR is GRAMMAR that serves up the impression that ‘The TOWN” possesses LOCAL SOURCING POWER, and we then use the SECOND ERROR to conflate the FIRST ERROR of NAMING which instantiated a LOCAL thing-in-itself existence.

We started with a GATHERING-SCATTERING WITHIN THE OVERALL FLOW, giving us the impression of a TOWNING and after employing the DOUBLE ERROR OF NAMING AND GRAMMAR, we come away with the ABSTRACT INTELLECTUAL IMPRESSION OF a LOCAL TOWN with its own powers of LOCAL SOURCING of actions and developments. WHEN WE SEE THIS EXAMPLE OF TOWNING (AS A FULLY RELATIONAL GATHER-SCATTER FLOW-FEATURE) BEING REDUCED, THROUGH A DOUBLE ERROR, TO A LOCAL THING-IN-ITSELF WITH ITS OWN POWERS OF SOURCING ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS, we are witnessing AN INTELLECTUAL SCAM, … THAT MAKES INTELLECTUAL-CONCEPTUAL (albeit ABSTRACT) SENSE.  That is, we just SUBSTITUTED something LOCAL, MATERIAL and having PERSISTING BEING along with powers of SOURCING actions and developments, to a continually transforming relational flow-feature.

WITH THIS DOUBLE ERROR BASED DECEPTION TECHNIQUE IN HAND (i.e. it becomes DECEPTION when we upgrade it from an accepted tool of INFERENCE of the INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT Wave-field REALITY to the status of A REAL, EFFABLE-because-LOCAL-and EXPLICIT OPERATIVE REALITY.

AND, WITH THE ABOVE OBSERVATIONS IN MIND, WE CAN NOW MOVE ON FROM ‘TOWNING’ TO ‘HUMANING’ WHEREIN WE INVOKE THE SAME DOUBLE ERROR OF NAMING AND GRAMMAR BASED DECEPTION of substituting a PSEUDO-REALITY based on LOCAL THINGS-IN-THEMSELVES notionally with their own powers of LOCAL SOURCING OF ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS.   This is the result of replacing SIMULTANEOUS GATHERING-SCATTERING as in TRANSFORMATION with SEQUENTIAL GATHERING-and-SCATTERING as in MECHANICS, thanks to the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR and the corresponding splitting up of TRANSFORMATION into PRODUCTION and CONSUMPTION (e.g. mining of material leaves holes (consumption) while building materials source construction (production) but why think of this in terms of TIME sequence?

Without our injecting the abstract concept of TIME which splits GATHERING and SCATTERING into TWO separate and sequential dynamics, and likewise SUBDUCTION and ERUPTION as in a sphere rather than on a flat plane, we comprehend what is going on as TRANSFORMATION which is INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL and-IMPLICIT

TRANSFORMATION, WHICH IS INEFFABLE-BECAUSE-NONLOCAL-AND-IMPLICIT CAN BE ALLUDED TO BY A VISUAL REDUCTION TO GATHERING-SCATTERING (a two-dimensional representation of the three-dimensional intrusion-extrusion as associates with transformation in spherical space via extrusion and intrusion).  GATHERING-SCATTERING CAN IMPLY A LOCAL CENTRAL SOURCE/RECEPTACLE AS WELL AS A TIME-BASED SEQUENCE (whereas spherical extrusion-intrusion is NONLOCAL and implicit as with warm water extruding out and around an aqueous sphere in simultaneous conjugate relation with cool water intruding into and circulating within the interior of the aqueous sphere, an image of non-sequential TRANSFORMATION involving ‘hidden attunement’ by way of the simultaneous conjugate relation.

That is, SCATTERING-GATHERING can open up our understanding to a fluid dynamic as transpires within an extended landscape even though resonances that show up as LOCALLY PERSISTING FIGURES that impute existence of LOCAL THINGS-IN-THEMSELVES.  For example, people can be streaming into TOWN and streaming out of TOWN on a continuing basis.  SO, WHY NOT REMOVE THE WORD “TOWN” AND JUST SAY THAT HERE CAN BE STREAMING IN AND STREAMING OUT ON A CONTINUING BASIS, TO GET RIDE OF THE NOTION THAT ‘THE TOWN’ IS SOMEHOW SOURCING ITS OWN EXPANSION AND SHRINKING.  THE POINT IS THAT THE GATHERING AND SCATTERING “IS THE TOWN OR TOWNING” which means that reality lies deeper than our DOUBLE ERROR constructions where we impute ‘the TOWN” it’s own LOCAL BEING and conflate that with GRAMMAR to impute to the NAMING-INSTANTIATED LOCAL BEING, ITS OWN NOTIONAL POWERS OF SOURCING ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS.

Our entirely RELATIONAL TRANSFORMING REALITY is, thanks to the DOUBLE ERRROR, reduced to a pseudo reality featuring things-in-themselves like TOWNS, notionally with ‘their own powers of SOURCING the production of people, goods and services.  THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS “A TOWN” IN THE DOUBLE ERROR SENSE OF THE TERM, THERE IS ONLY RELATIONAL TRANSFOMATION THAT IS INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT WHICH INCLUDES RESONANCES WITHIN THE SCATTER-GATHER DYNAMIC SUCH AS “TOWNING”.

The REIFICATION of these RESONANCES such as TOWNINGS and HUMANINGS is done with language based abstraction to deliver up within the intellectualizing psyche, NAMING-based LOCAL BEINGS with GRAMMAR-imputed POWERS of LOCAL SOURCING of actions and developments.

NOW WE HAVE SOMETHING EFFABLE-because-LOCAL-and-EXPLICIT!  WHICH IS VERY USEFUL FOR SHARING (A CRUDE REDUCTION OF OUR SENSORY EXPERIENCE), BUT IT IS NOT QUALIFIED AS A REPLACEMENT FOR THE REALITY OF OUR SENSORY EXPERIENCE, … HOWEVER, THE ERROR OF WESTERN CULTURE IS TO EMPLOY THIS REDUCTION AS A SUBSTITUTE REALITY RATHER THAN PSEUDO-REALITY GOOD ONLY FOR INFERENCE OF OUR SENSORY EXPERIENCE REALITY WHICH LIES INNATELY BEYOND REACH OF LANGUAGE (since it is a Wave-field reality wherein everything is in continuing flux).

This is where Emerson’s warning to us WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS, is coming from; i.e. that ‘the tool is running away with the workman, the human with the divine’.

Ok, I believe I have included the basic message in the above, but maybe a run-through of some of the basics would be helpful?

The key point is in the example of the TOWN as a TOWNING or GATHERING-SCATTERING where we fall into the trap of using the DOUBLE ERROR to impute powers of SOURCING actions and developments to the NAMING-instantiated TOWN which is really a purely relational RESONANCE FEATURE deriving from the SCATTERING-GATHERING.  The TOWN is NOT a THING-in-ITSELF except in our WESTERN CULTURE DOUBLE ERROR based system of NAMING and GRAMMAR.

The imputing of LOCAL THINGS-IN-THEMSELVES with powers of SOURCING actions and developments by way of the DOUBLE ERROR provides the general schema for CONSTRUCTING A PSEUDO-REALITY that substitutes for the Wave-field reality wherein purely relational RESONANCE is primary; i.e. relationa RESONANCE is the mother of gathering-scattering so relational RESONANCE is the mother of TOWNING but this dynamic of resonance based GATHERING-SCATTERING in NONLOCAL as is the nature of the Wave-field and thus INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT.  There is no solid foundation or stake in the ground which is EFFABLE-because-LOCAL-and-EXPLICIT.  But that EFFABLE conceptualizing of our experience is important to sharing (even though when we share the reduction to effable we are sharing only a crude inference of the ineffable-because-nonlocal-and-implicit Wave-field dynamic).

WE NEED TO INVERT OUR WESTERN CULTURE ORDERING OF THINGS TO AVOID BIPOLAR DISORDER

NO LONGER DO WE HAVE ‘THE GATHERING AND SCATTERING OF THINGS’, BUT INSTEAD WE HAVE THE UNDERSTANDING THAT THINGS ARE THE GATHERING AND SCATTERING AS IN THE CASE OF THE TOWNING. In this understanding, the concept of TIME which implies SEQUENCE is no longer a part of the ontology.

“Plato clearly distinguished between Heraclitus’ SIMULTANEOUS unity and plurality of the cosmos and Empedocles’ SEPARATE PERIODS of Love and Strife. At the same time, they are mentioned together as both alike in believing in the unity and plurality of the cosmos; and Aristotle’s coupling of the two might conceivably have been motivated by the Platonic comparison, the important distinction between them being overlooked.” – Kirk, Raven et al, The Presocratic Philosophers

That is, the gathering and scattering of humans gives rise to the impression of TOWNS as things-in-themselves, whereupon we employ the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR to impute both LOCAL thing-in-itself BEING to the TOWNING while GRAMMAR serves to equip ‘IT’ with its own powers of sourcing actions and development.  The TOWN is thus (IN REALITY) a continual becoming rather than a LOCAL thing-in-itself as the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR represents it.

In the sea of activity that wraps over and around the surface of the earth we have gathering and scattering which may be more comprehensively understood (by adding dimensionality in our conceptualizing) as intrusion-extrusion

The intellectual conceptualizing challenge with conceiving of relational TRANSFORMATION wherein EXTRUSION/SCATTERING and INTRUSION/GATHERING are ONE suggests a means of articulation of this INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL-and-IMPLICIT TRANSFORMATION in terms of a BIPOLAR conjugate relation.

THIS ABSTRACT MALE-FAMALE GEOMETRICAL CONCEPTUALIZATION SERVES AS A LOCALIZING and thus EFFABLE-IZING SUBSTITUTE FOR TRANSFORMATION-WHICH IS INEFFABLE-BECAUSE-NONLOCAL-AND-IMPLICIT.  SCATTERING/EXTRUSION and GATHERING/INTRUSION (MALE AND FEMALE) become ONE in TRANSFORMATION.  This removes the question as to WHO or WHAT is doing the SCATTERING/PRODUCING and Who or What is doing the GATHERING/CONSUMING.   TRANSFORMATION is the answer the dissolves these questions as it dissolves the concept of TIME that associates with SCATTERING and GATHERING as a SEQUENCE.

While a sequential coming together and moving apart as in periods of Love and Strife implies sequential TIME and the independence of space and matter (FIGURE and GROUND as TWO), … Heraclitus’ Simultaneous unity and plurality implies FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE as in TRANSFORMATION which has no implication of TIME or sequence as in ‘material mechanics’.
