Moving our Understanding Beyond ‘the Pathogen’ (i.e. moving from Newtonian materialist thinking to Modern Physics relational thinking)

How this impacts understanding of ‘reality’ as it pertains to ‘COVID 19’ which WESTERN MEDICINE portrays as a PATHOGEN.

WE WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS have fallen into the habit of representing ‘reality’ in ‘double error’ terms.  The first error is NAMING to impute ‘independent thing-in-itself being’ and the second, conflating error of GRAMMAR imputes the power of SOURCING actions and developments to the NAMING-instantiated thing-in-itself.

This is the basis of Newtonian physics and it is the basis of our Newtonian science concept of ‘PATHOGEN’.

The ‘modern physics’ alternative to the PATHOGEN view is RELATIONAL IMBALANCE, but RELATIONAL IMBALANCE is ineffable, encouraging REDUCTION to the ‘double error’ based PATHOGEN abstraction.

For example, when forests become desiccated  to the point that a forest fire develops from a spark from a chain saw, or the discarding of an incompletely extinguished cigarette, we use the abstract ‘cause-and-effect’ or ‘producer-product’ model and speak in terms of the fire in the on-sided producer-product terms wherein an action or development is understood as arising from some SOURCING AGENCY.   This abstract (double error of language and grammar) based notion of LOCAL SOURCING is linguistic reductive simplification that ‘effable-izes’ the ineffable reality of RELATIONAL TRANSFORMATION of ‘the Tao’ aka the Wave-field.

TRANSFORMATION is NONLOCAL which makes it ‘ineffable’.  While the ‘ineffable Tao’ or ‘Wave-field’ is the accepted reality of modern physics and EASTERN cultures (indigenous aboriginal cultures, Taoism/Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta) which can only be INFERRED as in modern physics’ ‘surprise version of the game of Twenty Questions’, … , the WESTERN CULTURE ‘operative reality’ reduces the ineffable reality of TRANSFORMATION to ‘effable’ representation in the abstract terms of LOCAL SOURCING OF ACTIONS and DEVELOPMENTS via the ‘double error’ of language and grammar.

One might ask WHY it is that our representations of reality feature the use of the PRODUCER-PRODUCT sourcing of a forest fire due to sparks from a chain saw or a lightning strike without mention of the fact that these actions do nothing without the long hot summer that has desiccated the ‘evergreens’ so that the very same actions that had no impact in wet weather are identified as causal agents in dry weather.

Forest fires have been part of transformation prior to the emergent inclusion of human life but “TRANSFORMATION” is a NONLOCAL dynamic and is thus ‘ineffable’. It is what modern physics is all about and that is why researchers in modern physics use techniques such as ‘The surprise version of the game of Twenty-Questions’, employing relational inference to describe emergent developments in the transforming relational continuum.

So, when we address ‘forest fires’ and how to prevent them, we ‘model’ them as LOCALLY SOURCED phenomena.  This is like the drunk searching for the watch he lost on a dark stretch of the road underneath a street light ‘because the search conditions are much better there’.

In other words, the tossed cigarette butt causes nothing in wet season yet is the identified ‘producer of product’ (forest fire) in the dry season.  What makes all the difference is the tinder dry condition of the forest that derives from NONLOCAL phenomena.   NONLOCAL phenomena are ‘ineffable’ and thus representable in the EFFABLE because LOCALLY SOURCED ‘producer-product’ (double error fabricated) phenomena.

COVID 19 is another standard WESTERN producer-product abstraction.  So also was ‘c. difficile’ identified as a PATHOGEN that caused and continues to cause many deaths from colitis.  In that case, it HAS BEEN RECOGNIZED that the proliferation of c. difficile associated with colitis arises when the diverse assemblage of microbiota in gut fall out of balance due to the administering of anti-biotics for some or other ailment or even as a precautionary in association with surgery.

The point is, as affirmed in relativity-based physics, that THERE ARE NO PATHOGENS.  Robin Hood and Jean Valjean were identified as PATHOGENS (criminals) and moves made to eliminate their pathogenic actions, when the reality was that their actions were induced by relational imbalance in the social dynamic where some were basking in over-abundant surplus while others were starving from deficiency.

Many continue to die unnecessarily from colitis in because the WESTERN MEDICAL ESTABLISHMENT cannot ‘let go’ of the Pathogen model where ‘eliminating the pathogen’ is the entrenched answer while microbiota rebalancing techniques like FMT (fecal microbiota transplant) which have a near 100% success rate are largely ignored because they ‘do not fit the

COVID 19 is presented to us in the standard PATHOGEN format of WESTERN CULTURE.  If we think of ourselves, the global human population as included in the overall TRANSFORMATION, then we could SEASONALLY (i.e. why do we get flu in winter/spring) become out of balance like the tinder-dry forest, where we become prone to microbiotal IMBALANCE wherein conditions develop that open up relational ‘slots’ or receptacles favorable to the proliferation of certain viral ‘geometries’.

In other words, just as the environmental conditions responsible for the tinder dry condition of the forest is primary and the cigarette butt secondary, … COVID 19 MAY NOT BE A PATHOGEN but may play the same role as the cigarette butt in the forest fire, … i.e. the complementing ‘trigger’ or ‘key’ that unlocks an explosion waiting to happen.  That is, maybe something goes missing in the human body in the winter season, akin to the water that goes missing in the trees of the forest in summer creating explosive conditions that can be ‘triggered’ rather than ’caused’, as when a skier ‘triggers’ an ‘avalanche’ in the mountains after a heavy snowfall.

Why do we ‘blame’ the skier or the ‘cigarette butt tosser’ and say nothing about the ‘real’ culprit?  We know that the ‘butterfly effect’ aka ‘sensitive dependence on initial conditions’ is a real physical phenomenon.

THE ANSWER IS, … the identification of LOCAL incipient cause is EFFABLE while NONLOCALITY is ineffable, … because the sourcing agency just keeps going on out there into the nonlocal environment making it impossible for us to give an explicit representation of the phenomenon.  For that, we need to be able to point to a LOCAL sourcing agency and we can’t ‘point to NONLOCAL sourcing agency’, as in the Tao aka the Wave-field reality.

So, we ‘blame’ the skier because that gives us a LOCAL source, and we blame c.difficile because that gives us a LOCAL source and we WESTERN CULTURE AGENTS don’t like to resort to loosey-goosey NONLOCAL sourcing agency as our EASTERN brothers and sisters don’t mind doing.

That’s because the double error that gives us LOCAL sourcing is also the source of EGO, and EGO (belief that one has LOCAL powers of SOURCING ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS per the double error) is built into our WESTERN CULTURE system of REWARDS and RECOGNITION.

In any case, nothing I have said suggests that we should not take precautions to ‘attentuate’ a COVID 19 Pandemic.  That statement, of course, still employs the conceptualizing of COVID 19 as a PATHOGEN rather than an imbalance.   This is like an aboriginal who accepts that if there is imbalance in the community social dynamic, it may be necessary to ‘take out the pathogen/trouble-maker’ even though we see reality of the situation in terms of relational imbalance as suggested by ‘mitakuye oyasin’ (we are all related).  But such ‘eliminating’ of the purported PATHOGEN is secondary to the reality of relational imbalance and the need to resolve it.

What is the relational imbalance that associates with COVID 19?  We’re not going to find out because we’re not looking for it, just as we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS are not going to find out the social relational imbalances that give rise to CRIMINALS aka PATHOGENS because we are not looking for relational imbalance.

Relational balance and imbalance is NONLOCAL phenomena that is ECLIPSED and WALLPAPERED OVER with the DOUBLE ERROR of LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR that reduces phenomena to notional LOCAL incipience.  In the EAST, that is just used for inference as in the ‘Wittgenstein ladder’ or ‘surprise version of the game of Twenty Questions’ (Bootstrap), but we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS employ is AS IF IT WERE REALITY.

FOOTNOTE -1-  Putting the abstract concept of PATHOGEN such as COVID 19 into a more realistic context.

In the philosophical exploration entitled “Moving our Understanding Beyond the Pathogen”, what is really being called into question is our WESTERN CULTURE acceptance of the PRODUCER-PRODUCT abstraction as ‘reality’.   Sure, it’s a ‘reality’ without our Euclidian space based language and grammar based REPRESENTATIONS of ‘reality’, but these INTELLECTUALLY-CRAFTED REPRESENTATIONS of reality ARE NOT REALITY.   REALITY is INEFFABLE.

Since we are using such REPRESENTATIONS to guide our social actions and interactions, it would ‘make sense’ to keep a constant vigil over what the ‘gap’ between our REPRESENTATIONS of reality and the ineffable reality (the Tao) that we are included in, and what issues that may be arising from our WESTERN CULTURE practice of structuring our actions and developments in accordance with our INEFFABLE-REDUCED-TO-EFFABLE RE-presentations.

For example, our language and grammar REPRESENTATIONS have us casting ourselves in PRODUCER-PRODUCT roles; e.g. as ‘farmers’ who cultivate the soil, and we visualize this in terms of a farmer and his farm-hands ‘clearing land’ to plant crops.  We ‘visualize’ this clearing in FLATSPACE (abstract Euclidian geometry) terms where he expands the cultivated area from 1 acre to 2 acres, then to 150 acres etc. and in our mind, we picture this as an expanding flat space, and not, as is more realistic, as on the surface of a sphere where we are chasing all the wild animals off ‘our land’ so that they are getting squeezed into a continuously shrinking (in reciprocal relation to our cultivated land growth) Wilderness area.

In fact, our use of the word-abstraction GROWTH as if it were something belonging to ‘reality’ conditions our intellectual understanding so that we bring into our minds the visual picturing of a one-sided increasing of cleared land, as if we were working on a flat plane (as in Euclidian geometry) of infinite extent.  Because of the flat plane being infinite as it is in geometry, the expanding area of cultivation can GROW without any conjugate reduction of the uncultivated space, … since that conjugate reduction only occurs if the space is NOT FLAT but is like the space on the surface of a sphere wherein an increase in cultivated land would at the same time be a reduction of uncultivated (Wilderness) land.  We need a different understanding of ‘space’ to comprehend the ‘curved space’ case which is a better match with our actual sensory experience.

Modern physics has acknowledge the need, in order to ‘stay closer to reality’ in our geometric RE-presentations, for this shift from FLAT Euclidian space to spherical space.  As

  In Newtonian and special relativistic physics, if we take away the dynamical entities – particles and fields – what remains is space and time. In general relativistic physics, if we take away the dynamical entities, nothing remains. The space and time of Newton and Minkowski are reinterpreted as a configuration of one of the fields, the gravitational field. This implies that physical entities – particles and fields – are not all immersed in space, and moving in time. They do not live on spacetime. They live, so to say, on one another. It is as if we had observed in the ocean many animals living on an island: animals ‘on’ the island. Then we discover that the island itself is in fact a great whale.  This is captured by Schoedinger in the phrase; ‘Subject and Object are only ONE’, … which is the same understanding as ‘mitakuye oyasin’, … everything is included in a relational unum (the Great Mystery).

Since we are using these intellectual concepts of geometry (of two different flavours) to construct, in our intellect, REPRESENTATIONS of reality that we then use as ‘go-bys’ for our actions and interaction, it could happen that all the farmers in the world could continue to GROW their cultivated patches of land, as if GROWTH were a REALITY, … and because they can only see a flat-plane like piece of the spherical surface, will not be continually aware of the full spherical-global picture wherein there is a corresponding SHRINKING of Wilderness lands reciprocal to the GROWTH of cultivated lands.  In other words, GROWTH is a logically INCOMPLETE concept that would only hold true if our living space were FLAT and unbounded, like a mathematical/geometrical Euclidian space.

This is where we fall into the INCOMPLETENESS OF ALL FINITE SYSTEMS OF LOGIC trap exposed by Goedel’s Theorem.

This is why modern physics had to ‘upgrade’ the logic used from the common WESTERN CULTURE standard “LOGIC OF THE EXCLUDED MEDIUM” … TO THE ‘quantum’ “LOGIC OF THE INCLUDED MEDIUM”.   This means that instead of understanding FIGURE and GROUND as TWO whereby FIGURE can GROW within GROUND that is impervious to such GROWTH, … we are understanding, instead, that as FIGURE GROWS, GROUND SHRINKS in reciprocal relation so that what is going on instead is RELATIONAL TRANSFORMATION.

We can understand this shift from understanding reality in terms of the GROWTH OF THINGS to RELATIONAL TRANSFORMATION better if we suspend imposing NAME labels on relational forms and using GRAMMAR that imputes the power of SOURCING actions and developments to those NAMING-INSTANTIATED relational forms.

If we see animals fighting and one being killed and observe the decay of its body and its transformation into a great wriggling bundle of flesh-consuming maggots leaving a reside of black organic soil, we might consider thinking of reconstituting our intellectual representation of this in terms of relational TRANSFORMATION, but there is a problem in so doing because TRANSFORMATION is NONLOCAL and thus INEFFABLE while our representation captured in terms of LOCAL things-in-themselves, notionally with their own powers of SOURCING actions and developments IS EFFABLE because it is LOCAL and FINITE in its MATERIAL BEING.

I believe it is fair to compare this to the joke about the drunk who has lost his watch on a darkened stretch of the street but is searching for it beneath the streetlamp “because the search conditions are much better there”; i.e.

THE CONDITIONS FOR ARTICULATION OF REALITY ARE FAR BETTER IF WE FIRST IMPOSE THE ABSTRACT CONCEPT OF “LOCAL” IN A SPATIAL CONTEXT AND “LOCAL IN TIME” IN A TEMPORAL CONTEXT.  These abstract concepts of LOCAL in SPACE and LOCAL in TIME allow us to ‘break into the continually transforming Tao’ which is ineffable in its raw form, and establish a LOCAL beachhead for effable RE-presentation.

Who would argue against this as being of profound benefit in opening up the possibility for language-based discourse on ‘reality’ even if this ‘reality’ is a ‘reduced by abstraction reality’?   We just need to remember that our language and grammar based REPRESENTATIONS of REALITY are NOT REALITY, but abstractions that INFER the REAL REALITY (of continual flux) that lies innately beyond such REPRESENTATIONS.

Ok, those who REMEMBER this we refer to collectively as ‘the EAST’ and those who ‘FORGOT’ we refer to collectively as ‘the WEST’.

The ‘benefit’ of this reduction is mitigated in the WEST by our having FORGOTTEN that our reduction-to-effable representation by way of language and grammar is just an abstract SPRINGBOARD that allows us to make an INTUITIVE LEAP to an understanding of the ineffable Tao that lies innately beyond representational capture in the intellectual tool of language and grammar.

What would happen if we let the TOOL RUN AWAY WITH THE WORKMAN, as Emerson claims we (WESTERN MAN) has done?  We would then promote the crazy-making idea, not only that double-error based LOCAL jumpstart SOURCING of actions and developments is “REAL”, but that WE, OURSELVES, because we are given by NAMING that represents us as LOCAL THINGS-IN-OURSELVES, have the POWER of sourcing LOCAL actions and developments.  This is called EGO and it is abstract fabricated with the double error of language and grammar.

The tool of language and grammar that lets us REDUCE relational TRANSFORMATION that we have sensory experience of inclusion in, to abstract terms of LOCAL things-in-themselves with ‘their own powers’ of SOURCING actions and developments IS, IN THE MINDS OF US WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS, “RUNNING AWAY WITH US, THE WORKMEN” and the ‘seat’ of this delusional LOCAL SELF is otherwise known as the EGO.

EGO is the double error based illusion of locally incipient POWER of SOURCING actions and developments that we endow on things by NAMING.  We can NAME an individual, a group or ‘company’, or a nation, and GRAMMAR is waiting in the wings, to ascribe POWERS OF ACTION AND DEVELOPMENT to the NAMING instantiated thing-in-itself.

THE PATHOGEN is a double error based abstraction that brings us COVID 19.  That is, language and grammar allows us to invent NAMING-INSTANTIATED LOCAL THINGS-IN-THEMSELVES, notionally with LOCAL POWERS OF SOURCING ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS, breaking relational forms out of the transforming relational continuum and RE-PRESENTING them in this ‘double error’ based manner.

THIS IS WHERE “PATHOGENS” COME FROM.  “PATHOGENS” ARE NOT REAL. “RELATIONS” as in RELATIONA BALANCE AND IMBALANCE are what is real while “THINGS-IN-THEMSELVES” are language based abstraction that allow us, in our intellectual language and grammar ‘double-error’ based REPRESENTATIONS, to invent PATHOGENS as a substitute for relational imbalance.  The growth of criminal actions rises when there is an intensifying of the HAVE – HAVE-NOT relation.  In WESTERN CULTURE, the response is NOT to alleviate the intensifying HAVE – HAVE-NOT relation but to eliminate the increasing number of ‘HAVE-NOTS’ that arise naturally in such circumstances that induce a restoring of balance.

This WESTERN CULTURE binary logic-based approach differs from the modern physics based relational understanding which is also the understanding in indigenous aboriginal cultures, Taoism/Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta; e.g.

“Once I was in Victoria, and I saw a very large house; they told me it was a bank and that the white men place their money there to take care of, and that by-and-by they got it back, with interest. We are Indians and have no such bank; but when we have plenty of money or blankets, we give them away to other chiefs and people, and by-and-by they return them, with interest, and our hearts feel good. The same message emerges from the social casting of Robin Hood-the-criminal/pathogen and Jean Valjean-the-criminal/pathogen, both of whose ‘criminal personas’ arose from their spontaneous empathic acts of restoring relational balance where imbalance between excess and deficiency had been developing.   “PATHOGEN” is an abstract ‘double error’ based concept that reduces NONLOCAL relational experience to abstract LOCAL WESTERN CULTURE double error based abstraction.

Conflict that is visible and VISUALIZABLE ‘out there in front of us’ is more deeply felt by way of sensual experience, as if our natural inner-outer sensation of resonance is giving way to an inner-outer sensation of dissonance.  This inner-outer sensory resonance which sometimes ‘tilts’ towards dissonance is ‘who and what we are’ in Wavefield terms.  It is ineffable because it is our experience of inclusion in the transforming relational continuum and because it is not about mutual exclusive of FIGURE and GROUND but about MUTUAL INCLUSION of FIGURE AND GROUND (“quantum BOTH/AND logic of the included medium” and we can’t get outside it to get a look at it and label it and point to and describe different aspects of it, BUT WE DO HAVE SENSORY EXPERIENCE OF INCLUSION IN THE ALL-INCLUDING WAVE-FIELD (TAO).

This discrepancy between THE REALITY THAT WE VISUALIZE AS BEING ‘OUT THERE”, on the one hand, and THE REALITY OF OUR SENSORY EXPERIENCE OF INCLUSION WITHIN IT, … is something that EAST and WEST handle very differntly; i.e. the EAST accepts in ineffability of REALITY and thus the need to give precedence to our sensory experience of inclusion within the transforming relational continuum, as is consistent with modern physics, indigenous aboriginal culture, Taoism/Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta.  In the case of modern physics, this is where the ‘Surprise version of the game of Twenty Questions’ comes wherein we can only relationally infer the Wave-field aka Tao that we are included in.  Meanwhile, we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS regard the reductive abstractions such as GROWTH and the PRODUCER-PRODUCT dynamic, … NOT JUST AS TOOLS OF INFERENCE as int the EAST, but as FLAT-OUT REALITY!   This is the source of WESTERN CULTURE EGO wherein the language and grammar based double error tool ‘runs away with the worker’, implanting in our intellect the illusion of LOCAL jumpstart SOURCING of THINGS-IN-THEMSELVES with POWERS of actions and development (an illusion that ‘wallpapers over’ our intuitive understanding of the transforming relational continuum, the Wave-field aka Tao that includes everything including us.


THE EASTERN use of language and grammar ‘double error reduction’ (reducing flow-forms to notional LOCAL things-in-themselves, notionally with their own powers of SOURCING ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS) ‘sounds like’ the WESTERN use of language and grammar ‘double error reduction’ (reducing flow-forms to notional LOCAL things-in-themselves, notionally with their own powers of SOURCING ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS).

THIS IS DECEPTIVE, because, when the EASTERN CULTURE ADHERENT uses language to speak of the GROWTH of cultivated land, she is understanding, at the same time, the reciprocal REDUCTION of Wilderness lands.  In other words, she simply and directly understands the world dynamic in terms of relational TRANSFORMATION, whereas, the WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENT uses language to speak of the GROWTH of cultivated land, as if that is the explicit truth.  Another example of this explicit manner in which we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS use and interpret language such as in a WESTERN LAW COURT where commitments to ‘telling the truth, the full truth and nothing but the truth’ open the way to the delivery of one-sided producer-product accounts such as Robin Hood’s theft of the ‘King’s grain’ and Jean Valjean’s theft of a loaf of bread.  These ‘full truth’ accounts can be understood in terms of binary splitting of FIGURE and GROUND.  In reality, FIGURE AND GROUND ARE ONE and it is relational balance/imbalance between FIGURE AND GROUND as ONE (as in BOIL and FLOW as ONE) …. THAT IS THE ESSENCE OF RELATIONAL TRANSFORMATION.  The starving child in the slum’s crying out for nurturance even as the rich in their palaces are gorging on over-abundance, can induce the balancing actions of a third party and this ‘three-body-problem’ is a dynamic that eludes binary logical analysis.  As Newton said of it;

 “An exact solution for three bodies, exceeds, if I am not mistaken, the force of any human mind”

It is as if the dynamic that unfolds cannot be explained in terms of the actions of the things but arises instead from the relations among the things, suggesting that the dynamics of things are not ‘primary’ but ‘secondary’, an understanding that suggests that relational TRANSFORMATION is primary while ‘the double error’ based view in terms of a NAME-instantiated thing-in-itself with GRAMMAR instantiated powers of SOURCING actions and dynamics, is abstract, intellectual contrivance, … contrivance that REDUCES in order to ‘effable-ize’ the ineffable.

This ‘two-in-the-one’ topology (FIGURE and GROUND are ONE) as in Wave-field dynamics aka ‘the Tao’, plays a foundation role in modern physics and in ‘the new biology’ that is influenced by modern physics;

“As is described by Nijhout, genes are “not self-emergent,” that is genes can not turn themselves on or off. If genes can’t control their own expression, how can they control the behavior of the cell? Nijhout further emphasizes that genes are regulated by “environmental signals.” Consequently, it is the environment that controls gene expression. Rather than endorsing the Primacy of DNA, we must acknowledge the Primacy of the Environment!” —Bruce Lipton, ‘The New Biology’

Since the developing forms are included in the common ground (the FIGURE is included in the GROUND) as the BOIL is included in FLOW, requiring NOT standard EITHER/OR logic of the EXCLUDED medium but requiring ‘quantum’ BOTH/AND logic of the INCLUDING medium.  This ‘quantum logic’ has been struggling to emerge in WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENT society, and has been put forward by some ‘environmentalists’ who recognized that FIGURE and GROUND as TWO, … or INHABITANT and HABITAT as TWO, is an error as our sensory experience is affirming that FIGURE and GROUND are ONE;

“In extending his living space in a manner that destroys the space of others, he destroys his own space. Not initially his inside space, his ‘self’, but his outside space, this real outside-of-self which nourishes his ‘inside-of-self’. The protection of this outside space now becomes the condition without which he is unable to pursue the growth of his own powers of being.” — Frédéric Neyrat, ‘Biopolitics of Catastrophe’

One might ask why such findings, which contradict the foundational WESTERN CULTURE assumptions of the nature of REALITY persist and the answer often given is the same as for why Microsoft PC’s persist; i.e. an inferior or erroneous concept can become ‘locked in due to high switching costs’.  It is difficult to change out defective wheels on your vehicle while you are driving it.

The DOUBLE ERROR is the source of EGO and while the EAST does not regard the double error notion of NAMING-instantiated LOCAL things-in-themselves conflated with GRAMMAR imputed powers of SOURCING actions and developments as anything more than INFERENCE of an ineffable because NONLOCAL reality that lies beyond it, the WEST accepts the DOUBLE ERROR based representation as “REALITY”.  As noted, this is a ‘CRAZY-MAKER’.

The CRAZINESS comes in the form of BIPOLAR DISORDER which not only divides the psyche of some individuals, but divides the psyche of the social collective into Conservative and Liberal polarities, which in all three cases; bipolar, conservative, liberal FALSELY assume the ‘reality’ of the LOCAL power of SOURCING actions and developments.

There is NO LOCAL SOURCING in TRANSFORMATION as is the basis of reality in modern physics, indigenous aboriginal cultures, Taoism/Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta.  But LOCAL SOURCING is foundational in WESTERN CULTURE and this leads to an erroneous AMBIGUITY via the FIGURE (individual) and GROUND (collective) binary split; i.e. the belief in a reality where the individual is the basic source of actions and development is one pole of the dipole (conservative) while the belief in a reality where the collective is the basic source of actions and development is the other pole of the dipole (liberal).  The WESTERN ‘bipolar’ individual takes ownership of this split within her own person which is confusing and gives rise to ‘bipolar disorder’.

The assumption of LOCAL SOURCING is complicated by the assumption of a binary FIGURE AND GROUND split:  The FIGURE (individual) as the LOCAL sourcing agency gives the conservative view of reality while the GROUND (social collective) as LOCAL sourcing agency gives the liberal view of reality.  Without the assumption of LOCAL SOURCING, there is no POLAR split into CONSERVATIVE and LIBERAL factions.
