Why Reduce Transformation to Production-and-Consumption?
AUTHOR’s PROLOGUE:
Reality is “ineffable” because it is our experience of inclusion in the TRANSFORMING relational continuum aka ‘the Wave-field’ aka ‘the Tao’.
‘WE’, in this case referring to EASTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS and WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS, use language and grammar in DOUBLE ERROR reductions that REDUCE the NONLOCAL (and therefore ineffable) TRANSFORMING relational continuum to the EFFABLE CONSUMPTION-PRODUCTION DYNAMIC. The DOUBLE ERROR works as follows;
The FIRST ERROR is NAMING to impress on the intellect the notional LOCAL existence of a THING-IN-ITSELF, and we conflate this FIRST ERROR with a SECOND ERROR of GRAMMAR whereby we impute to the NAMING-instantiated LOCAL thing-in-itself the power of SOURCING actions and developments.
This philosophical investigation shows how EAST and WEST SPLIT into polar opposite camps of understanding REALITY and how the DOUBLE ERROR plays a key role in this; i.e.
The EAST employs the DOUBLE ERROR reduction-to-effable only as INFERENCE of a ‘reality’ that is ineffable and which lies beyond the DOUBLE ERROR reduction. In this understanding, CONSUMPTION and PRODUCTION are metaphors that support the abstract concept of a LOCAL thing-in-itself that CONSUMES energy to PRODUCE PRODUCTS. In this EASTERN understanding, THERE IS NO ACTUAL ORGANISM that INGESTS/CONSUMES and EXCRETES/PRODUCES. That is, ‘CONSUMPTION’ and ‘PRODUCTION’ is abstraction that effable-izes and LOCALIZES what is in reality NONLOCAL TRANSFORMATION (the Wave-field dynamic aka ‘the Tao’).
The WEST employs the DOUBLE ERROR reduction-to-effable as if this were the operative reality. In this understanding, CONSUMPTION and PRODUCTION are more than just ‘metaphors’, they are held to be ‘real processes’ that support the REAL concept of a LOCAL thing-in-itself that CONSUMES energy to PRODUCE PRODUCTS. In this WESTERN understanding, THERE IS AN ACTUAL ORGANISM that INGESTS/CONSUMES and EXCRETES/PRODUCES. That is, ‘CONSUMPTION’ and ‘PRODUCTION’ are held to be REAL dynamics that effable-ize and LOCALIZE the dynamics of nature. The ‘ORGANISM’ aka the ‘ORGANIZATION’ is the ABSTRACT INFERENCE of the DOUBLE ERROR REDUCTION that SUBSTITUTES and removes from play, NONLOCAL TRANSFORMATION (the Wave-field dynamic aka ‘the Tao’).
IN SHORT, the concepts of ‘ORGANISMS’ and CONSUMPTION and PRODUCTION are UNREAL ABSTRACTIONS that serve, within the abstract mechanics of language and grammar, as the basis of a mechanistic representation of reality that is accepted in the WEST, but not in the EAST nor in modern physics.

Our use of language and grammar to reduce TRANSFORMATION to PRODUCTION-and-CONSUMPTION is to substitute something EFFABLE-because-LOCAL for something INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL.
The ‘production’ and ‘consumption’ of oil and gas associates with TRANSFORMATION of the relational space we share inclusion in. The ground collapses where we extract oil and gas from subsurface accumulations, the atmosphere turns dark and sooty from the combustion products of the oil and gas we burn, …. so, … are the terms PRODUCTION and CONSUMPTION referring to anything REAL?
If we see ourselves as local PRODUCER-OF-PRODUCT MACHINES that consume FOOD and excrete WASTE, then the FOCUS is ON US as if we were INDEPENDENT THINGS-IN-OURSELVES WITH-OUR OWN POWERS OF SOURCING ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS.
But this is abstraction as Nietzsche points out; i.e. the PRODUCER-of-PRODUCT is an intellectual conceptual impression that comes from THE DOUBLE ERROR of language and grammar. The FIRST ERROR is NAMING to impress on the intellect the notional LOCAL existence of a THING-IN-ITSELF, and we conflate this FIRST ERROR with a SECOND ERROR of GRAMMAR whereby we impute to the NAMING-instantiated LOCAL thing-in-itself the power of SOURCING actions and developments. With this DOUBLE ERROR of language and grammar we have the capability of stimulating intellectual abstractions that are LOCAL in nature, such as are inferred by aphorisms such as “FIRE BURNS”.
Now, it may come into our minds that the Wave-like ‘seasons’ we experience inclusion in have something to do with ‘FIRE’ and this comes about through a NONLOCAL phenomenon involving solar irradiance that dessicates vegetation, transforming it into a tinder-dry condition pregnant with transformation potential where it can recombine with the atmospheric gases that delivered the rainfall that supported its spring season succulence.
Does it therefore ‘make sense’ to transfer the SOURCING of action from the NONLOCAL containing dynamic to the LOCAL items of CONTENT? The items of LOCAL content are the abstract artifacts of the DOUBLE ERROR of language and grammar, as Nietzsche pointed out. They serve as means of rendering the INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL to EFFABLE-because-LOCAL.
The point is, and this separates the understanding of reality of the EAST from the understanding of reality of the WEST, the reduction to EFFABLE does not deliver up a representation of reality per se, … it delivers up a tool-of-inference or ‘Wittgenstein ladder’ or ‘Bootstrap’ device (likened to ‘The surprise version of the game of Twenty Questions’) that teases our intelligence into making an intuitive leap to IMPLICIT understanding that lies beyond EXPLICIT capture and expression. That reality is IMPLICIT is the message in Lao Tzu’s ‘The Tao that can be told is not the true Tao’.
Here we are running into Bohm’s capture of this complexity in terms of IMPLICATE and EXPLICATE order. We can easily point to a FIRE and say; ‘FIRE BURNS’ and that establishes LOCAL, EXPLICIT ACTION and DEVELOPMENT, but we can’t point to the NONLOCAL TRANSFORMATION which is the more comprehensive ‘real’ phenomena because it is ‘everywhere at the same time’ and all-inclusive. That is, we, ourselves, are included in seasonal transformation (the Wave-field, the Tao) and we are thus subject to being frozen into a glacier or incinerated into carbon blowing in the wind.
Our inclusion in NONLOCAL TRANSFORMATION is INEFFABLE and that’s why we don’t explicitly talk about it because it is purely relational and implicit and it doesn’t REDUCE to EXPLICIT.
Thus we are DUMBSTRUCK when it comes to addressing, with language (and not simply with intuitive understanding) the reality of TRANSFORMATION. As Wittgenstein says in his final comment in TRACTATUS LOGICO PHILOSOPHICUS, … “7. “Wovon man nicht sprechen kann, darüber muss man schweigen” (“Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent.”)
But ALL IS NOT LOST in our challenge to articulate and thus SHARE our experience so that we can learn from one another and avoid many pitfalls and go more directly to harmonious unfoldings, because we can use language and grammar to construct and share EFFABLE REDUCTIONS of INEFFABLE REALITY. This is what ‘the DOUBLE ERROR’ is all about.
For example, the DOUBLE ERROR enables the REDUCTION of TRANSFORMATION (which is NONLOCAL and thus INEFFABLE) to LOCAL and EFFABLE terms. This where the reductionist abstractions of PRODUCTION and CONSUMPTION come into play as EFFABLE substitutes for the INEFFABLE TRANSFORMATION.
We can INTUIT in our minds, the two options of FIGURE-and-GROUND in; (a) binary terms of EITHER/OR logic of the EXCLUDED medium where FIGURE and GROUND are TWO, …. and (b) non-binary (modern physics) terms of BOTH/AND logic of the INCLUDED medium where FIGURE and GROUND are ONE.
TRANSFORMATION is where FIGURE AND GROUND are understood as ONE
PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION invite us to see FIGURE AND GROUND AS TWO. For example, BIRTH and DEATH are exemplary of PRODUCTION and CONSUMPTION (WEST) as distinct from TRANSFORMATION (EAST, modern physics Wave-field).
We can intuit TRANSFORMATION as the boil-and-flow topology in fluid flow wherein the flow is ‘all-including’ so that FIGURE (boil) and GROUND (flow) are ONE. This is where the concept of Wave-field takes us with the help of intuition since TWO-as-ONE is not EXPLICIT and can only be IMPLICIT.
SO, … Why Reduce Transformation to Production-and-Consumption?
This is a reduction of the IMPLICIT (and thus INEFFABLE) to the EXPLICIT (and thus EFFABLE).
NOTA BENE! … PRODUCTION and CONSUMPTION are abstractions that define A LOCALLY EXISTING ORGANISM by way of the DOUBLE ERROR of language and grammar; i.e. The FIRST ERROR is NAMING to impress on the intellect the notional LOCAL existence of a THING-IN-ITSELF, and we conflate this FIRST ERROR with a SECOND ERROR of GRAMMAR whereby we impute to the NAMING-instantiated LOCAL thing-in-itself the power of SOURCING actions and developments.
The DOUBLE ERROR based ‘LOCALLY EXISTING THING-IN-ITSELF ORGANISM’ that is INFERRED by the notional LOCAL combination of PRODUCTION and CONSUMPTION (excretion and ingestion) is a device that re-render the NONLOCAL/IMPLICIT as LOCAL/EXPLICIT.
That is, the boil-in-flow, wherein figure and ground are ONE, is thanks to the DOUBLE ERROR, re-rendered in language and grammar so that figure and ground are TWO.
THE INEFFABLE-BECAUSE-IMPLICIT/NONLOCAL BOIL-IN-FLOW… IS THUS REDUCED TO THE EFFABLE-BECAUSE-EXPLICIT/LOCAL BOIL-AND-FLOW.
What makes this reduction of the ineffable to the effable intellectually possible is the introduction of an abstract THIRD player; i.e. an imaginary containing space inhabited by both BOIL and FLOW which allows them to have their own separate and individual behaviours relative to the imaginary containing space, at least in language and grammar terms although NOT in reality, but ‘reality’ is NONLOCAL and thus INEFFABLE so that, as far as language and grammar representation goes, we must pass over ‘reality’ IN SILENCE. Reality aka ‘the Wave-field’ aka ‘the Tao’ is not reducible to language (‘The Tao that can be told is not the true Tao’ — Lao Tzu).
We thus need to bear in mind that the REPRESENTATION of reality in DOUBLE ERROR based language and grammar terms IS NOT REALITY, but only a language-based reductive INFERENCE of what lies innately beyond capture by language. For example, ‘DUNING’ is resonance based TRANSFORMATION, and DOUBLE ERROR talk in terms of LOCAL DUNES with notional LOCAL POWERS of sourcing actions and developments is a language-stimulated intellectual reductive representation of the ineffable Wave-field reality that lies innately beyond reach of effable representations.

The title of this commentary is;Why Reduce Transformation to Production-and-Consumption?
The answer to this is as suggested in the above; i.e. TRANSFORMATION is NONLOCAL and thus INEFFABLE while PRODUCTION and CONSUMPTION are LOCAL and EFFABLE.
The NONLOCAL and INEFFABLE as in the FIGURE and GROUND as ONE, requires the BOTH/AND logic of the INCLUDED medium whereas the LOCAL and EFFABLE as in FIGURE and GROUND as TWO requires the EITHER/OR logic of the EXCLUDED medium.
It is not that we CANNOT UNDERSTAND reality in NONLOCAL and thus INEFFABLE terms, it is merely that we can’t ARTICULATE it. In order to articulate NONLOCAL phenomena such as Wave-field resonance as with DUNING, we employ the DOUBLE ERROR of language and grammar to reduce the NONLOCAL to the LOCAL, hence resonance/Wave-field DUNING is reduced by NAMING to DUNES and give powers of SOURCING actions and development with GRAMMAR. This gives us a reduction to LOCAL and EFFABLE representation which is LOWER DIMENSIONAL as in a reduction from SPHERICAL SPACE to Euclidian FLATSPACE.
In other words, this representational reduction is from the IMPLICIT, NONLOCAL, RELATIONAL to the EXPLICIT, LOCAL, ABSOLUTE.
The resonance (Wave-field) based DUNING wherein FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-ONE is reduced to the mechanics of DUNES wherein FIGURE and GROUND are TWO.
Why do we do this reducing? So that we can re-render the ineffable in effable terms.
Why Reduce Transformation to Production-and-Consumption?
The answer is, … so that we can re-render the ineffable in effable terms.
PITFALL WARNING!
The re-rendering of the ineffable in effable terms by way of the DOUBLE ERROR which recasts TRANSFORMATION in the reduced terms of PRODUCTION and CONSUMPTION while it is regarded in the EAST and in MODERN PHYSICS, only as an intellectual device for using the effable to infer the ineffable, divides us into EAST and WEST wherein EAST DOES NOT FORGET that the reduction to effable delivers only a tool of INFERENCE of the ineffable reality (the ineffable Wave-field aka the Tao), the WEST falls into the trap of regarding the effable as ‘reality-itself’ rather than an inference of the ineffable reality.
What this means is that the WEST is prone to confusing PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION as REAL, rather than as inference of TRANSFORMATION that is NONLOCAL and lies innately and ineffably beyond reach of the LOCAL and effable.
This effects our understanding of reality in general, and is a factor in our interpretation of COVID 19 which is based on the abstract concept of the PATHOGEN where PATHOGENS KILL puts us into the same abstract belief in LOCAL SOURCING as in the case of “FIRE BURNS” and “LIGHTNING STRIKES”. That is, this DOUBLE ERROR localizing of NONLOCAL phenomena is not good for ‘prime time’ reality representation; it is only good for “Wittgenstein ladder” inference. “The Tao that can be told is not the true Tao” — Lao Tzu

FOOTNOTE:
The reduction of TRANSFORMATION to PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION constitutes a lowering of dimensionality. A crude analogy would be the installing of Volkswagen engine in a Porsche ‘because it fits’ although it lacks the power flesh out the needed performance. PRODUCTION and CONSUMPTION are reductions to LOCALITY that make representations in that context fall innately short of the NONLOCALITY that associates with TRANSFORMATION.
