Our Western Culture’s Obsession with SORCERY
FORWARD:
Our WESTERN CULTURE fosters belief in SORCERY. This belief in SORCERY comes with the DOUBLE ERROR of language and grammar, described by Nietzsche, the FIRST ERROR is the use of NAMING to impute local thing-in-itself existence to whatever relational feature in the transforming flow-continuum is given the NAME; e.g. person, nation, corporation, bacterium, virus etc. The SECOND ERROR is GRAMMAR that imputes the power of LOCAL SOURCING to the NAMING-instantiated (notional) thing-in-itself, hence ‘LIGHTNING FLASHES’ (Nietzsche) and FIRE BURNS (Nishitani).
This DOUBLE ERROR allows us to use language and grammar to LOCALLY JUMPSTART ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS; i.e. to ‘break into the INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL flow-continuum’ aka the Wave-field aka ‘the Tao’ and reductively render it in EFFABLE-because-LOCAL terms. For example, the familiar resonance phenomenon that manifests as DUNING is INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL but we can use the DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR to reduce it to “the DUNE’ that ‘grows higher and longer and shifts across the ‘desert floor’” which is EFFABLE-because-LOCAL.
Now we have something LOCAL to attribute development and actions to; “This DUNE X-34 centred at latitude X and longitude Y developed in the sandstorm that started yesterday and has grown to several metres in height and about 50 metres in length, and has been steadily shifting towards the coast”.
Note how the DOUBLE ERROR allows us to shift from the INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL (resonance) to the EFFABLE-because-LOCAL (mechanistic).
The world as understood in modern physics is a transforming relational continuum. This is the fluid world of Heraclitus, indigenous aboriginal cultures, Taoism/Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta wherein developments are INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL and where FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-ONE.
The world as understood in classical physics is a world of material objects in empty space wherein developments are EFFABLE-because-LOCAL and where FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-TWO.
SORCERY as a locally incipient birthing of being is a concept that is impossible in the world of modern physics, indigenous aboriginal cultures, Taoism/Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta where ‘everything is in flux’ (where TRANSFORMATION is the basic reality aka the Wave-field dynamic aka the Tao)
Our WESTERN CULTURE obsession with SORCERY brings with it the associated superior social status for those believed to be major contributors in the SOURCING of VALUABLE actions and developments and the associated inferior social status for those believed to be lesser contributors in the SOURCING of VALUABLE actions and developments and/or contributors to the SOURCING of negative actions and developments.
Nowhere is this SORCERY based values systems stronger than in the UNITED STATES where those seen as SOURCING valuable actions and developments are treated as HEROES while those seen as SOURCING little of worth are ignored and those seen as SOURCING disruptive or destructive actions and developments are perceived as VILLAINS.
In modern physics as in indigenous aboriginal cultures, reality is understood in terms of relational transformation (LOCAL SOURCING DOES NOT ARISE). Actions and developments may be DESCRIBED as manifesting LOCALLY as in LIGHTNING FLASHES and FIRE BURNS but these expressions are DOUBLE ERROR reductions of the NONLOCAL RELATIONAL TRANSFORMATION that is the primary reality.
The point is that SORCERY is not REAL but is a language and grammar DOUBLE ERROR based EFFABLE-IZING device useful for INFERRING the INEFFABLE. “NAMING” establishes a LOCAL thing-in-itself existence while GRAMMAR equips the LOCAL thing-in-itself with the notional powers of SOURCING actions and developments.
In our WESTERN CULTURE, the deservedness of the allocated socially requisite praise and rewards for SORCERY achievements is often highly controversial. The correction sought has been with respect to the relative equitability of deservedness of SORCERY credits; e.g. are males and whites being given more rewards and praise than females and blacks, for the same feats of SORCERY? Equitability corrections are in progress, but the deeper problem remains untouched by this WESTERN CULTURE social initiative since the root of the problem is that there is no such thing as SORCERY aka the PRODUCER-PRODUCT dynamic, there is only TRANSFORMATION.

Our common WESTERN CULTURE use of language conjures up representations in terms of the LOCAL SOURCING OF ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS by NAMING-instantiated things-in-themselves. This is a DOUBLE ERROR of language and grammar (Nietzsche) and it is the source of a general craziness in our WESTERN CULTURE, as is the topic of this note. This ‘general craziness’ includes the polarizing division into politically opposite factions termed ‘conservatives’ and ‘liberals’. This Polar Division associates with a basic ambiguity infused into the WESTERN PSYCHE by the DOUBLE ERROR That is; ‘is it the individual’s thinking that sources the group’s thinking or is it the group’s thinking that sources the individual’s thinking? . ‘Does the man source the times or do the times source the man?’ Did Hitler source WWII or did WWII source the rise of Churchill?
I keep using words that imply that SORCERY is a real dynamic, but it it, really? Nietzsche says NO! What ‘sorcery’ (the notion of LOCAL SOURCING OF ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS) is, is a DOUBLE ERROR of language and grammar as where we say LIGHTNING FLASHES and FIRE BURNS. The first error is NAMING that imputes LOCAL thing-in-itself BEING, and the second, conflating error is GRAMMAR that imputes the power of sourcing actions and developments to the NAMING-instantiated LOCAL thing-in-itself.
We WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS are schooled in the belief in an ‘individual’s powers of SORCERY of EITHER good OR evil actions and developments. In fact, such powers of SORCERY can be credited to anything we care to NAME such as a person, nation, animal, insect, corporation etc. This notion of having the personal power of SORCERY gives rise to EGO.
There is no SORCERY in the transforming relational continuum aka ‘the Wave-field’ aka ‘the Tao’ aka ‘the reality’ of modern physics., there is only TRANSFORMATION.
If the fire starts LOCALLY, right here, and the burnt area GROWS larger and larger, … the unburned area is reciprocally shrinking so that there is no such thing as GROWTH, there is only TRANSFORMATION. That is, we were wrong in saying ‘the burnt area GROWS larger and larger’. It is like saying ‘our farm is growing larger and larger’. That fails to capture the reality that the Wilderness is reciprocally shrinking, the overall effect being TRANSFORMATION.
That is Nietzsche’s and Nishitani’s point, ‘FIRE BURNS’ is a DOUBLE ERROR that implies LOCAL SOURCING of ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTs. A currently popular DOUBLE ERROR is “COVID 19 KILLS”.
Because we live within a transforming relational continuum, what is going on is TRANSFORMATION.
All those who we say ‘have died from COVID 19’ were going to die of something anyhow. As Dr Albert Szent-Györgyi (Nobel prize for discovering effects of vitamin C) observed that we say that a person dies of pneumonia but there are over 100 different bacteria and viruses whose proliferation associates with the set of symptoms we call ‘pneumonia’ so rather than dying from the attack of a pathogen it was the persistence of life as dynamical balance that was interrupted (for example, an insufficiency of vitamin C). Similarly, the proliferation of c. difficile is blamed for deaths by colitis but such proliferation is itself the result of the microbial assemblage in the gut falling out of balance due to the administering of an anti-biotic.
There are no pathogens in the real world, there is only TRANSFORMATION. The concept of a pathogen derives from the DOUBLE ERROR of language and grammar such as ‘FIRE BURNS’, ‘Robin Hood steals’, COVID 19 KILLS.
THE DOUBLE ERROR: —The first error is NAMING that imputes LOCAL thing-in-itself BEING, and the second, conflating error is GRAMMAR that imputes the power of sourcing actions and developments to the NAMING-instantiated LOCAL thing-in-itself.
This DOUBLE ERROR based imputing of LOCAL SORCERY gives rise to ambiguity that plays out in the mode of understanding of WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS in BIPOLAR psychological split into ‘conservatives’ and ‘liberals’.

Supposing that Turtle Island was still populated primarily by peoples of indigenous aboriginal cultures. In that case, while inter-tribal strife would still be present to varying, changeful degrees, there would be no DOUBLE ERROR delusions wherein the peoples would abstractly split Turtle Island into three separate NAMING-instantiated states (the U.S., Canada and Mexico) EACH NOTIONALLY WITH THEIR OWN POWERS OF SOURCING ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS and organizing social collectives AS IF THAT WERE THE CASE.
Of course, the four leggeds, the crawlers and the winged ones who self-organize on the basis of sensory-experience-relations, that do not employ language based intellectual conceptualizations to inform their behaviours, will not be open to behavior that is NOT GROUNDED in sensory experience; i.e. behaviour that is directed FIRSTLY by an abstract intellectual conceptualizing, administered through language and grammar discourse. When our sensing and acting is coming directly from our natural relational experience, we do not have to be reminded that the “REALITY” of the ‘existence’ of abstract nation-states and their obligatory demands for mechanistic modes of operations depend on nothing other than having a body of people willing to support and defend such abstraction. Ultimately, in contemplating such questions, one comes to the conclusion that the tool of DOUBLE ERROR based conceptualization has, in our WESTERN CULTURE, been ‘running away with the workman, the human with the divine’, as Emerson observed.
The key element in sustaining belief in such DOUBLE ERROR abstraction is the delusion where we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS, although sensory experience informed on a most basic level, are taught from an early age to believe that NAMING establishes the notional EXISTENCE of a LOCAL thing-in-itself (person, nation, corporation), notionally endowed by GRAMMAR with its own powers of SOURCING actions and developments. In the WESTERN CULTURE, the actual sensory-experience informed reality of our inclusion in the transforming relational continuum, which continues to be the primary reality of our brothers sisters, the four-leggeds, the crawlers and the winged ones, WE HAVE SET ASIDE AS A LESSER ORGANIZING INFLUENCE, and our remaining a WESTERN CULTURE MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING depends upon our acceptance of the unnatural primacy of the DOUBLE ERROR based pseudo-reality, over our natural sensory experience of inclusion in the relational transformation aka the Wave-field aka ‘the Tao’.
The DOUBLE ERROR belief is the belief inThis is the cornerstone belief of WESTERN CULTURE trade and commerce and its notional locally incipient producer-product dynamic, even though this is intellectual abstraction that is not affirmable by our sensory experience. The magic-like LOCAL SOURCING POWER it imputes to us (formerly known a ‘sorcery’) is supported by the swelled-head EGO that comes with this thought so that whenever we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS, as naming-instantiated individuals, nations and corporations invoke this DOUBLE ERROR based LOCAL SOURCING inference, the belief is “I DID IT” or “WE DID IT”. That is, the impression coming from language and grammar via the DOUBLE ERROR; i.e. that WE ARE PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SOURCING OF PARTICULAR ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS.
As long as a majority of us WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS appreciate and applaud the ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS in question, the EGO of the alleged sourcing agent or ‘author’ may swell with self-pride.
In modern physics as in indigenous aboriginal cultures, Taoism/Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta, the dynamics of the real world of our sensory experience are understood as ‘relational dynamics’ within the transforming relational continuum, in which case one’s relational contributions to the cultivating and sustaining of relational harmony, are understood as ‘inspired by the unfolding relational dynamics one is situationally included in’. If the indigenous aboriginal finds himself in the relational situation where he is adjacent to where a child is being swept away in the raging river, inspiration may fill his heart and induce his rescuing of the child. In the indigenous aboriginal culture, the natural world dynamic unfolds from an inbuilt orientation to the cultivating and sustaining of relational balance and harmony.
Meanwhile, the WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENT will undergo the same experience, but we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS, because we understand dynamics in DOUBLE ERROR terms where we construct cognitive representations wherein we visualize ourselves as LOCAL NAMING-instantiated THINGS-IN-OURSELVES (BEINGS) with GRAMMAR-given powers of SOURCING ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS, will think of what went on in this case in a LOCAL sense as in Nishitani’s ‘FIRE BURNS’ and Nietzsche’s LIGHTNING FLASHES; i.e. ‘HEROS BESCUE THOSE IN DISTRESS’. This is a language and grammar based REDUCTION of our experience of inclusion in the transforming relational continuum, to DOUBLE ERROR based terms of LOCAL actions and development authored by NAMING-instantiated things-in-themselves.
The REALITY of our sensory experience is that we are included in TRANSFORMATION but this understanding is NOT-EFFABLE -because-NOT-LOCAL since the continually unfolding TRANSFORMATION has no discrete beginning or ending in spacetime (i.e. in the flow aka the Tao aka the Wave-field). To overcome this INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL predicament (in order to convert the INEFFABLE to something EFFABLE), we invented the DOUBLE ERROR REDUCTION of NAMING and GRAMMAR. Now, instead of the hurricane-in-the-atmospheric flow being a FIGURE and GROUND that is ONE, … we reduce the FIGURE and GROUND to TWO, so that instead of understanding our experience as inclusion in transformation, we say ‘Hurricane Katrina is ravaging New Orleans’. This is the DOUBLE ERROR of language and grammar ‘in action’; i.e. it splits TRANSFORMATION where FIGURE-and-GROUND-are-ONE into FIGURE-and-GROUND as TWO as with the abstract concepts of INHABITANT-and-HABITAT.
WARNING/ACHTUNG! … by doing this grammar based split-apart to render the ineffable effable, we are introducing an innate ambiguity into the language and grammar conceptualizations as to whether the FIGURE is stirring up the GROUND (leads to the conservative political view) or whether the GROUND is stirring up the figure (leads to the liberal political view). The boil in the flow named Katrina, thanks to NAMING and GRAMMAR, is cast as the AUTHOR or SOURCE of the flow, however, in our mental reflections, we may question whether the ‘boil’ is sourcing the collective ‘flow’ (conservative) or whether the collective ‘flow’ is sourcing the ‘boil’ (liberal). That is, WESTERN CULTURE struggles with the ambiguity of whether ‘one bad apple source spoilage of the whole barrel’, or whether ‘it takes a whole community to source the raising of a [good/bad] child’). WE WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS get so embroiled in debating which of these opposing views is the ‘correct’ view (deepening the conservative-liberal polar split), that we lose sight of the fact that THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS ‘SOURCING’, THERE IS ONLY RELATIONAL TRANSFORMATION.
Major problem! The belief in ‘SOURCING’ is where WESTERN CULTURE EGO-PRIDE comes from which is built into the WESTERN CULTURE recognition and rewards system. The fact that SOURCING is over-ridden by TRANSFORMATION in modern physics, indigenous aboriginal cultures, Taoism/Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta doesn’t help out us WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS, because we are deeply invested, by way of EGO, in this belief in the powers of SOURCING ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS THAT COMES BUNDLED INTO THE DOUBLE ERROR of NAMING and GRAMMAR.

In other words, the use of the DOUBLE ERROR (reduction of the ineffable-because-nonlocal to effable-because-local) that attributes, with GRAMMAR, the powers of LOCAL SOURCING OF ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS to a NAMING-instantiated thing-in-itself (human, nation, corporation), obscures and substitutes for the primary reality of the transforming relational continuum.
YES, WE ENGINEERED OUR REDUCTION OF… THE INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL… TO EFFABLE-because-LOCAL … WITH THE ‘DOUBLE ERROR … BUT, IN THE PROCESS, we got stuck with this AMBIGUITY from splitting FIGURE AND GROUND from ONE into TWO , … in the sense of whether THE FIGURE SOURCES the stirring-into-action of the COLLECTIVE/GROUND (conservative), … or whether the COLLECTIVE/GROUND SOURCES the stirring-into-action of the FIGURE (liberal).
THIS AMBIGUITY ARISES SOLELY FROM THE DOUBLE ERROR BASED IMPUTING of LOCAL SOURCING and there is no such AMBIGUITY in relational TRANSFORMATION which is the basic reality of our sensory experience of inclusion in the transforming relational continuum. In other words, THE AMBIGUITY arises from our language and grammar reduction of the INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL to the EFFABLE-because-LOCAL (the reduction of FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE to FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO).
This diabolical AMBIGUITY is why Mircea Eliade titled his discussion of this; ‘Mephistopheles et l’Androgyne’ which was reduced in the English translation to ‘The Two and the One’. It is kind of a ‘deal with the devil’ that we make in order to effable-ize the ineffable. We get what we want; i.e. ‘effable-articulation of the ineffable’, but we pay a price for splitting apart the FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE into FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO, … and the price is this inherent AMBIGUITY as to which is SOURCING the stirring into action of WHICH. This AMBIGUITY permeates WESTERN THINKING; e.g. ‘do continents drift’ or ‘do seafloors spread’? So long as we are in denial of TRANSFORMATION, THERE IS NO RESOLVING OF SUCH AMBIGUITY. This AMBIGUITY is the price we pay for this ‘deal with the devil’ that gives us the DOUBLE ERROR to re-render FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-ONE in terms of FIGURE-and-GROUND-as-TWO and ‘say goodbye’ to TRANSFORMATION as the basic dynamic of the REAL world of our sensory experience.
Our sensory experience, as with our brothers and sisters, the four-leggeds, winged ones and slithering ones, is not exposed to this ambiguity screw-up, … the ambiguity comes solely from the DOUBLE ERROR reduction which is used to reduce the INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL TRANSFORMATION to the EFFABLE-because-LOCAL PRODUCER-PRODUCT dynamic (e.g. “FIRE BURNS” and ‘LIGHTNING FLASHES” and “COVID 19 KILLS”.
You or I or anyone can do what modern physics suggests, and what indigenous aboriginals, Taoists/Buddhists and Advaita Vedanta adherents do, which is to employ the DOUBLE ERROR as a tool of INFERENCE rather than TAKING IT LITERALLY so that if we say; “My farm is growing larger and more productive’, citing ‘its growth’ in terms of acres and ‘its production’ in terms of bushels of wheat ‘it produces’ and prove this to be ‘real’ by showing the bundles of money we are being paid for such production, … this LOCAL reality IS NOT REALITY, … because what is really going on is TRANSFORMATION wherein the GROWTH of cultivated lands are offset by the SHRINKAGE of Wilderness lands so that the riches that come with GROWTH of cultivated land are an incentive for continued GROWTH THAT IS NOT, IN FACT, “GROWTH”, but TRANSFORMATION. TRANSFORMATION comprehends the REALITY that the GROWTH of cultivated land is only half of the reality; i.e. there is the conjugate reality of the SHRINKAGE of WILDERNESS lands, these two taken together inferring the REAL REALITY of TRANSFORMATION.
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS “GROWTH”, THERE IS ONLY TRANSFORMATION SO THAT THE WESTERN CULTURE, IN PURSUING ECONOMIC GROWTH, IS LETTING WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON, TRANSFORMATION, FLAP ABOUT LIKE A LOOSE SHEET IN A GALE. We WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS, because we have put our language and grammar based DOUBLE ERROR based pseudo-reality into an unnatural precedence over our sensory experience of inclusion in the transforming relational continuum, are living in an UNREALITY that is a CRAZY-MAKER.
GROWTH is just a variant on the abstract theme of LOCAL SORCERY
LOCAL SORCERY is just a psychological ‘cover’ for what is really TRANSFORMATION.
The mocking statement in Al Kapp’s ‘Li’l Abner’ through the cartoon strip’s character of General Bullmoose (‘What’s good for General Bullmoose is good for everybody’) borrows from a public statement by the head of General Motors (Charles E. Wilson) ‘What’s good for the General Motors is good for the country’ – Charles E. Wilson, head of GM).
Many of us WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS continue to believe in the concept of a GROWTH ECONOMY which is BLIND to the reality that there is no such thing as GROWTH, there is only TRANSFORMATION, and as we continue to growth the mines for the metal , the factories and production facilities and the junkyards and the air pollution, how ‘sane’ is it to continue to speak of ‘the GROWTH’ of the economy?
It is still commonly accepted in our WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENT society to speak LOGICALLY (the binary EITHER/OR brand of logic as captured by FIRE BURNS’ (GM PRODUCES) even as we watch the landscape TRANSFORMING by the proliferation of factories, air pollution, junkyards, mining, oil production etc.
ARE WE CERTAIN that there IS such a thing a GROWTH? GENERAL BULLMOOSE is fully committed to this concept of GROWTH as in the GROWTH of his business wherein his factories are the sites of SORCERY of a continuing production line outpouring of new vehicles, that GENERAL BULLMOOSE continues to be made rich and powerful by, and honoured as a major player in the much-vaunted GROWTH ECONOMY. But what about all the growing metal mining pits, the oil wells and atmospheric pollution from exhaust from combustion engines, the paving over of meadows and the cutting of forests and all the stuff that screams out “THIS IS NOT THE LOCAL SORCERY BASED ‘GROWTH’ OF INDUSTRY, THIS IS TRANSFORMATION OF THE LIVING SPACE WE ARE INCLUDED IN’.
Is the WESTERN CULTURE practice of GROWING monocultural croplands a ‘good thing’? As F. David Peat points out, the Mohawk people cultivated the Three Sisters; beans, squash and corn, to fit into the diversity based inter-dependence of Nature wherein everything depends on everything in THE GREAT HARMONY.
The GENERAL BULLMOOSES of WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENT society are rewarded for GROWTH when what is ‘really going on’ is TRANSFORMATION. The GROWTH of monoculture croplands is, at the same time, the SHRINKING of Wilderness-land diversity. These two, the GROWTH of cultivated lands and the SHRINKING of Wilderness lands, must be understood TOGETHER, as in the quantum physics BOTH/AND logic of the INCLUDED medium. Our WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENT ‘standard deployment’ of the EITHER/OR logic of the EXCLUDED medium falls short of being able to capture TRANSFORMATION, and it is the one-sided concept of GROWTH that obliterates from our conscious awareness, the reality of TRANSFORMATION, as if our expanding croplands were expanding on a FLAT PLANE of infinite extent rather than on a spherical surface of finite extent.
As Poincaré pointed out, simple arithmetic operations fail to consider the nature of the world we are included in. We can speak of the GROWTH of our farm from 2 acres to 160 acres as if that fully captures what is going on, but the GREATER REALITY is TRANSFORMATION rather than GROWTH wherein the Wilderness has been reduced, in reciprocal relation to GROWTH by 158 acres. If we orient one-sidedly to GROWTH when the reality is instead TRANSFORMATION, we are going to be in trouble. In other words, WE WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS “ARE IN TROUBLE” FOR THIS VERY REASON; I.E. FOR FOLLOWING IN THE CRAZY FOOTSTEPS OF GENERAL BULLMOOSE and perceiving GROWTH not only as REAL but as a great and profitable concept encouraged by governments and economists.
Our current COVID 19 Pandemic, and the concept of PATHOGENS in general derives from our WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENT belief in SORCERY
Why do we persist in this belief in and encouraging of SORCERY ? In other words, why do we BLIND OURSELVES to the reality of TRANSFORMATION?
The answer is that the DOUBLE ERROR of language and grammar, which is what imputes LOCAL SOURCING OF ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS is emotionally supported by EGO, the sense that ‘I am the source of this wonderful house I just built (sourced), or ‘We are the source of this wonderful town we just built (sourced)’. FIRE BURNS does it not? If so, WE HUMANS PRODUCE PRODUCTS, do we not?
This is SORCERY and while it may have started out, as in the EAST as a tool for side-stepping the inadequacy of language and grammar for capturing the INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL Wave-field dynamic of TRANSFORMATION which is ongoing ‘everywhere at the same time’ in which we and everything are included. That is, SORCERY is a convenient way to apply language and grammar to the task of rendering (in reduced form) an effable version of the ineffable. And, yes, Emerson is right on target with his observation that, in our WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENT society, the DOUBLE ERROR reduction tool of language and grammar has run away with the workman, the (effable) human with the (ineffable) divine.
Our belief in our own power of SORCERY is otherwise known as EGO and so long as we are rewarding and respecting the GENERAL BULLMOOSE in ourselves for notionally SOURCING economic GROWTH, ENTIRELY OUT OF CONTEXT OF THE GREATER REALITY OF TRANSFORMATION, … we shall continue to be in contradiction to our own understanding. In other words, we shall continue to accept rational understanding based on the EITHER/OR logic of the EXCLUDED medium wherein FIGURE and GROUND are TWO, …. where reality demands, instead, … quantum logic, the BOTH/AND logic of the INCLUDED medium wherein FIGURE and GROUND are ONE, where the GROWTH of cultivated land (the FIGURE) involves at the same time, the reciprocal SHRINKAGE of Wilderness (the GROUND).
This EGO-inflating concept of SORCERY is parcelled up in our language and grammar as part of the program of LOCALIZING the NONLOCAL so as to render the ineffable effable, after which, we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS “FORGET” that we have used this expedient reduction to effable-ize the ineffable.

DISCUSSION:
Our ‘reality’ is a unique personal experience but ‘generalization’ abounds in our WESTERN CULTURE and it does serve the purpose of reducing the ineffable-because-NONLOCAL to the effable-because-LOCAL. Thus TRANSFORMATION which is inherently NONLOCAL can be reduced to PRODUCER-PRODUCT dynamics which are LOCAL. The language and grammar (DOUBLE ERROR) reduction of NONLOCAL TRANSFORMATION to LOCAL SORCERY is a useful TOOL for giving us a reduced ‘gist’ of TRANSFORMATION; e.g. the NONLOCAL resonance dynamic (Wave-field dynamic) of “DUNING” is reduced to LOCAL ontology by NAMING and GRAMMAR so that DUNING is reduced to ‘the DUNE’ that is given its own power of SORCERY (within language based constructions) with GRAMMAR.
Thus, the resonance phenomenon of DUNING, which is NONLOCAL (because Wave-field based) is ‘over-written’ the mechanistic DOUBLE ERROR based abstraction that is in terms of NAMING-instantiated things-in-themselves with GRAMMAR given powers of SOURCING actions and developments. This notional LOCAL and PERSONAL power of SORCERY is what Al Kapp is critiquing in his cartoonist mocking of General Motors. Our intuition will not stop ‘screaming out to us’ that THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GROWTH, THERE IS ONLY TRANSFORMATION, … AND WE ARE INCLUDED WITHIN THIS TRANSFORMATION.
So, as we are reading our General Motors Report to Shareholders and hearing about how valuable this enterprise is to the GROWTH of the economy, we may not be tapping into our intuition which is whispering to us, … ‘DON’T LISTEN TO ALL THESE GOOD WORDS ABOUT GROWTH; … THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GROWTH, THERE IS ONLY TRANSFORMATION! GROWTH IS AN ABSTRACTION BORN OF THE DOUBLE ERROR OF LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR ( i.e. the first error is NAMING that imputes LOCAL independent being (e.g. General Motors) and we conflate this with a second error of GRAMMAR which imputes to the NAMING-imputed LOCAL thing-in-itself, the powers of SOURCING actions and developments (PRODUCTION OF PRODUCTS such as cars and trucks).
Is this notional PRODUCING OF PRODUCTS ‘true’ or have we run into the Goedel’s theorem identified weakness of logic in that all finite systems of logic are incomplete? How can logic deal with what goes on in a transforming relational continuum? As modern physics discovered, simple logic can’t deal with relational TRANSFORMATION as in the resonance based dynamic of DUNING. Togical treatment of TRANSFORMATION requires ‘quantum logic’; i.e. the BOTH/AND logic of the INCLUDED medium wherein FIGURE and GROUND are ONE. But we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS remain ‘addicted’ to the classical EITHER/OR logic of the EXCLUDED medium. We have had this addiction since Parmenides put it in place ad the gold standard for modeling reality, displacing Heraclitus’ BOTH/AND logic of the INCLUDED medium wherein ‘everything is in flux’ (TRANSFORMATION is the primary reality while PRODUCER-PRODUCT dynamics are unreal abstraction used to reduce the ineffable-because NONLOCAL ‘TRANSFORMATION’ to the ‘effable-because-LOCAL PRODUCER-PRODUCT dynamic otherwise known as local SORCERY’..
General Bullmoose profits from the popular belief in LOCALLY instantiated SORCERY (local sourcing of actions and developments) thanks to the manner in which this notion of the PRODUCTION (SORCERY) of good things SUBSTITUTES for reality which is instead TRANSFORMATION of the relational continuum we and everything share inclusion in.
As modern physics has shown, consistent with the understanding of indigenous aboriginals, Taoists/Buddhists and Advaita Vedanta adherents, Heraclitus was correct, in the reality of our actual sensory experience of inclusion in the Wave-field aka the Tao, everything is in flux and the DOUBLE ERROR of language and grammar wherein we use NAMING to reduce NONLOCAL relational flow-forms (resonances) to notional LOCAL things-in-themelves that we use GRAMMAR to animate by imputing to them ‘their own powers of sourcing actions and developments. In this one-sided reduction to voyeur viewing of ‘FIRE BURNS’ and ‘GENERAL BULLMOOSE PRODUCES PRODUCTS’, … the understanding of our inclusion in TRANSFORMATION is lost. It is as if our two eyes being on one side of our head are saying to our sensory capacity for understanding our immersion in the Wave-field aka the Tao, is simply set aside and disregarded, giving centre stage attention to our voyeur viewing, so that ‘sourcing’ is no longer immanent in the world in the form of ongoing TRANSFORMATION, and must therefore exist ‘out there’ and manifest through LOCAL SOURCING AGENTS such as GENERAL MOTORS. If seeing is believing, then GENERAL MOTORS is the SOURCE of motor vehicle production and as with FIRE BURNS, this DOUBLE ERROR combination of NAMING and GRAMMAR establishes LOCAL SOURCING of actions and developments, displacing the sensory experience grounded reality of inclusion in the transforming relational continuum aka the Wave-field aka the Tao.
EGO holds thus understanding in place, along with the elevating of the exceptional producers of products such as General Motors financers and officers to positions of power that protect this DOUBLE ERROR based mode of understanding and the big egos that it cultivates in our WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENT society.
The current COVID 19 Pandemic may be viewed as being SOURCED by a vicious PATHOGEN’ but that is just the DOUBLE ERROR SPEAK of us WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS, and what is really going on is INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL and that is othewise known as TRANSFORMATION. Sure, we can for simplicity, as Kepler points out, agree with the simple concept of LOCAL SOURCING by a PATHOGEN or by a HEROIC business leader such as the president of GENERAL MOTORS who instigated a huge PRODUCER-of-PRODUCTS operation, … but if the reality is really TRANSFORMATION instead, which we have sidestepped because it is INEFFABLE-because-NONLOCAL, … we are putting ourselves into the deep doo-doo as we GROW PRODUCTION by making it very profitable even though the reality is TRANSFORMATION
Hey where is all this smoke and pollution and contamination and loss of Wilderness diversity coming from anyway? Is our positivist DOUBLE ERROR based logic as in FIRE BURNS and LIGHTNING FLASHES and THE PRODUCTION OF PRODUCTS GROWS, … too over-simplistic so that it is hiding the reality of TRANSFORMATION as characterizes the Wave-field dynamic that we and everything are included in? If so, perhaps this explains why the WESTERN CULTURE producer-product logic is making more of us work harder and longer while receiving less. If TRANSFORMATION is the ‘real reality’ that we all share inclusion in, then our orienting ourselves to GROWTH of PRODUCTION makes us into parasites of ourselves. If ‘everything is related’ (mitakuye oyasin) within the transforming relational continuum, then our diversity-reducing activities, as in clearing and cultivating and industrializing the land etc. are relational dynamics within the transforming relational continuum. Our ego-based belief in the DOUBLE ERROR notion of LOCAL SORCERY is the CRAZY-MAKING OBSESSION of us WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS. The public support for believing in GENERAL BULLMOOSE as a PRODUCER oF PRODUCTS is weakening as the GREATER REALITY of TRANSFORMATION becomes more evident.
The ego-based GENERAL BULLMOOSE false accreditation of the power of sorcery not only permeates the general WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENT population but it operates as a system of false accreditation that is applied by whites who are in power to differentially attibute powers of SORCERY on the basis of race. At present, the focus is not on the falsity of the very concept of SORCERY, but on the inequitability of accreditation of SORCERY in a society where managers accredit themselves up to one thousand times the SORCERY powers of the average worker, and where whites (who predominate in positions of power that regulate the ascertaining of relative SORCERY contributions) establish the relative weighting factors of the SORCERY collective. At this point, it is evidently more common for people to be suspicious race-based imbalance in allocating SORCERY contributions, than to suspect that the problem lies in the concept of SORCERY itself. There is also the female-male dispute as to the equitability of SORCERY attribution and all of these binary conflicts distract us from acknowledging the NON-REALITY of SORCERY since we are busy battling against the inequitability of SORCERY attribution.
Conservatives believe that SORCERY begins with the individual dynamic while liberals believe that SORCERY originates with the social collective dynamic, so this is yet another WESTERN CULTURE social-relational dissonance that associates with the SORCERY delusion, which draws attention away from the greater reality of TRANSFORMATION which is inherently NONLOCAL (and thus ineffable) in contrast with SORCERY which is innately LOCAL and thus effable. This DOUBLE ERROR tool of SORCERY has got hold of WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS by their EGOS and is giving them a good squeeze.
