An inclusional worldview
LANGUAGE AND LOGIC AS THE SOURCE OF SOCIAL CONFLICT
My philosophical inquiries into the FRAGMENTATION of our WESTERN CULTURE based society REAFFIRM Bohm’s and Shroedinger’s findings that while we live in a world whose physical dynamic is beyond capture in a simple BINARY LOGIC basis, BINARY LOGIC has nevertheless been given a foundational role in our LINGUISTIC CONCEPTUALIZING by way of the SPLITTING APART of MATTER and SPACE. In addition to Bohm and Schroedinger who have cited the need for non-binary logic based (flow-based) languages (e.g. Bohm’s Rheomode and Schroedinger’s Advaita Vedanta based Atmavit-Mahavit combination), there have been ‘campaigns’ by Buddhist scholars such as Alan Watts that encourage WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS to BREAK FREE of DEPENDENCY on TOO-SIMPLE BINARY LOGIC based linguistic conceptualizing. By embracing INADEQUATE BINARY LOGIC as the “GOLD STANDARD” for WESTERN CULTURE linguistic conceptualizing, we BLOCK OUT ACCESS to the complexity needed for capturing the BASIC NONBINARY LOGIC OF THE INCLUDING MEDIUM that “DOES POSSESS” the capability of characterizing the foundational structure of the physical world we are living in.
SIMPLE BINARY LOGIC based linguistic conceptualization, while it is adequate in supporting linear concepts such as GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION of BEING-based entities as if within an EMPTY SPACE, LACKS THE CAPABILITY TO SUPPORT FLOW-BASED PHENOMENA, the complexity of which DEMANDS NONBINARY LOGIC in support of TRANSFORMATION of the OVERALL energy-charged PLENUM wherein there is no longer dependency on logcal material being that enjoys persisting local existence and operates ‘in its own mechanistic right’. For WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS addicted to the BINARY LOGIC GOLD STANDARD, the switch to NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM where ‘strands and web are one’ is non-trivial. At some level in the WESTERN CULTURE PSYCHE, there remains the acknowledgement of the FOUNDATIONAL ROLE of the NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT with its lava-like capacity for REDUCTION into LOCAL and EXPLICIT structure, yet without ever losing its innate NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT TRANSFORMATIVE CAPABILITY.
THE DROP-OUT of essential understanding of the transformative nature of the physical world in which we share inclusion comes from the attempt, such as by Copernicus, and earlier (500 BCE) by Aristotle who introduced a foundational simplification into our linguistic conceptualizing of reality by SPLITTING APART into successive SEQUENTIAL components, the highs and lows of our wave-field world, a departure from Heraclitus’ understanding of the SIMULTANEOUS nature of highs and lows which captures the wave-field based physics of our sense-experience reality. (Note that the ‘peak’ and ‘trough’ of the wave are SIMULTANEOUS and only APPEAR SEQUENTIAL, an “APPEARANCE” (schaumkommen) that has ‘tricked’ influential WESTERN CULTURE researchers such as Piaget who, as pointed out by Vygotsky, has infused the error into his teaching/learning approach, of splitting into two separate parts the conjugates of LOCAL AND EXPLICIT (the peak) and NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT (the trough) as if they possessed separate ‘stand-alone’ existences.
Piaget has thus introduced into WESTERN EDUCATION a teaching approach that DROPS OUT the bothersome and seemingly unnecessary NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT (wrongly assuming its BINARY LOGIC based independence from the LOCAL and EXPLICIT) and thus infusing into the TEACHING APPROACH a simplifying one-sided emphasis on the LOCAL and EXPLICIT as if IT ACTUALLY EXISTED IN IS OWN INDEPENDENT RIGHT, WHICH IT DOES NOT! SPLITTING APART, for example, the LOCAL and EXPLICIT GROWTH OF THE TOWN from the NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT “CONJUGATE” SHRINKING OF WILDERNESS. This is a SERIOUS ERROR that encourages the WESTERN CULTURE misguided focus on one-sided GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION!
(note in this regard, the concern of Dr. Iain McGilcrist [cited further on in this text] who argues that “many of the problems our society faces stem from the fact that the left hemisphere of our brains has come to dominate our minds and lives;” i.e. in modern physics grounded terminology, we are displacing the nonlocal and implicit with the local and explicit in our linguistic conceptualizations, as for example with the emphasis on growth, development and production, ignoring the conjugate shrinking of wilderness, decline of existing structure and consumption of nonrenewable rare materials.).
This type of WESTERN CULTURE EXCHANGE of SIMPLE BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC of the EXCLUDED MEDIUM, which reduces our understanding to EITHER MATERIAL PRESENCE OR EMPTY SPACE, does indeed achieve a SIMPLIFICATION in our LINGUISTIC CONCEPTUALIZATIONS of physical reality, but at the COST of simplifying our UNDERSTANDING to such a degree that this is contaminating our linguistic conceptualization-guided PHYSICAL OPERATIONAL DYNAMICS. For example, the MAJOR CONFLICT in MODERN WESTERN CULTURE SOCIAL DYNAMICS between those with the CONSERVATIVE worldview and the LIBERAL worldview is ROOTED in the use of the TOO-SIMPLE BINARY LOGIC in the foundations of our linguistic conceptualizing.
This PROBLEM is NOT resolvable at the level where we are applying too simple BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC OF THE EXCLUDED MEDIUM which is being employed by BOTH CONSERVATIVES and LIBERALS and is unable, because intrinsically TOO SIMPLE, to engage as needed, in LESS SIMPLE issues involving NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM.
That is, instead of understanding material forms as independent of the space they occupy (the ARISTOTELIAN linguistic conceptualizing of the world which gives precedence to absolute material being as if in empty space), the actual physical complexity of (wave-field based) NATURE demands a linguistic conceptualizing capability that can deal with HERACLITEAN NONBINARY “BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM” relations. This less simple (NONBINARY) conceptualizing capability is needed where the material form is a CONDENSATION of an all-including energy-charged PLENUM. The linguistic conceptualizing requirements in this case include the BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM as was the understanding built into early linguistic conceptualizing schemes, including those of indigenous aboriginals (the BOTH/AND logical relation of STRANDS IN THE WEB wherein ‘everything is related’ [‘mitakuye oyasin’] as has been affirmed by the modern physics concept wherein material forms are CONDENSATIONS of the energy-charged PLENUM ).
OUR WESTERN CULTURE ADDICTION TO THE USE OF TOO-SIMPLE BINARY LOGIC IN FOUNDATIONS OF OUR LINGUISTIC CONCEPTUALIZATIONS IS THE SOURCE OF FRAGMENTATION THAT IS UNRESOLVABLE WITH BINARY LOGIC.
“Modern physics” (David Bohm, Erwin Schroedinger) have affirmed the adequacy of indigenous aboriginal as well as Buddhist and Advaita Vedanta linguistic conceptualizing approaches as having needed capability for NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM, which is LACKING in our common everyday WESTERN CULTURE BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC of the EXCLUDED MEDIUM linguistic conceptualizing scheme. This is NOT to say that NONBINARY LOGIC has never shown its face in our WESTERN CULTURE linguistic conceptualizing. NOTE THAT in the following propositions, the acknowledgement of our INCLUSION IN A DYNAMIC THAT INCLUDES US AND IS THUS GREATER THAN (OVER-RIDES) OUR OWN LOCALLY AUTHORED DYNAMICS, the reality which is supported in Heraclitus’ NONBINARY LOGIC infused philosophy but which has been dropped out in the Aristotelian BINARY LOGIC infused philosophy which continues to dominate in our present day WESTERN CULTURE linguistic conceptualizations as evidenced in the CONSERVATIVE-LIBERAL polarizing impasse.
e.g. the needed NONBINARY LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM is present in statements such as “To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8) , and also, in “There is a tide in the affairs of men, Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune; Omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and in miseries. … Shakespeaere’s ‘Julius Caesar’.
The dominant foundational role of WAVE-BASED (cyclical) dynamics, as affirmed by Modern physics, is evident in these scattered linguistic conceptualizations, which have largely DISAPPEARED from our modern WESTERN CLUTURE linguistic conceptualizing practice, which has NOT GONE UNNOTICED and has been pointed out using the different WESTERN CULTURE jargons including those used to describe our brain activity where researchers suggest that we are abandoning the natural primacy of ‘right brain’ usage and elevating the usage of ‘left brain’ to the point that ‘right brain understanding’ is dropped out [2].
Much of the conflict arising in WESTERN CULTURE SOCIETY, both in the past and persisting in today’s DIVIDED CONSERVATIVE versus LIBERAL, derives from misinterpreting THE IMPACT of one another’s language based logical conceptualizations. For example, LIBERALS and CONSERVATIVES have polar opposite views on important aspects of social governance. It has been suggested that such LIBERAL and CONSERVATIVE disagreements derive from BELIEF differences. For example; researchers Clifton and Fischman & Yuhas contend; (Many Differences between Liberals and Conservatives May Boil Down to One Belief) [3]
“CONSERVATIVES TEND TO BELIEVE THAT STRICT DIVISIONS ARE AN INHERENT PART OF LIFE. … LIBERALS DO NOT.”
Such a proposition STAYS WITHIN the realm of BINARY LOGIC based understanding, seeking a solution to CONFLICT arising within a world of NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM dynamics wherein adequate linguistic conceptualizations demand less simple NONBINARY capability TO AVOID DROP OUT OF ESSENTIAL CONTENT that is BEYOND CAPTURE in simple BINARY EITHER RIGHT OR WRONG terms, as where the issues are NOT OUT THERE IN FRONT OF US, but where the issues INCLUDE US, as in the understanding of modern physics as expressed by Bohm;
“Space is not empty. It is full, a plenum as opposed to a vacuum, and is the ground for the existence of everything, including ourselves.” (Bohm).
OK, THIS IS AN INTRODUCTION TO … “LANGUAGE and LOGIC AS THE SOURCE OF SOCIAL CONFLICT” and believe me, I am doing ‘my best’ to cut to the essential core of this important matter which explains the evidently unresolvable difference in worldviews that manifests not only in the CONSERVATIVE – LIBERAL SPLIT but in the INDIGENOUS ABORIGINAL – WESTERN CULTURE SPLIT. “WHERE I AM” right now, is in the cataloguing of the most important different LANGUAGE and LOGIC systems that are supporting different UNDERSTANDINGS of the reality we share inclusion in, and how these different linguistic conceptualizing systems divide us by giving us different understandings of the same phenomena and set us on different paths that can lead to conflict that IS UNRESOLVABLE at the level of simple BINARY LOGIC based understanding. I AM STARTING WITH THE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT that BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC is too SIMPLE to capture the understanding we need to navigate in our complex wave-field world and that NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC OF THE INCLUDING MEDIUM (the energy-charged plenum in which material forms are condensations) IS NEEDED, as has been recognized and applied in indigenous aboriginal cultures, Taoism/Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta, as affirmed by Bohm, Schroedinger and other, BUT WHICH HAS NOT BEEN INCORPORATED INTO OUR WESTERN CULTURE LINGUISTIC CONCEPTUALIZING SYSTEMS.
SO, there is an evident NEED in exploring WESTERN CULTURE social dysfunction such as the BINARY LOGIC based CONSERVATIVE – LIBERAL polarized conflict, to compare and contrasts WHAT APPEARS TO WORK WITHOUT ENCOUNTERING THE POLARIZING BREAKDOWN as in the CONSERVATIVE – LIBERAL linguistic conceptualizations of ‘reality’, a DIVISION that resists ‘resolving’ evidently because the WESTERN CULTURE GOLD STANDARD FOR FIGURING THINGS OUT, WHICH IS BINARY LOGIC, IS INNATELY TOO SIMPLE TO ACHIEVE SUCH RESOLVING, and waiting in the wings, but unable to enter, is the needed LESS SIMPLE NONBINARY LOGIC OF THE INCLUDING MEDIUM, as embraced NOW by MODERN PHYSICS and as long embraced by indigenous aboriginals, Taoists/Buddhists and Advaita Vedanta adherents. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT the shift from LOGICAL THINKING from the WESTERN CULTURE GOLD STANDARD of BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC of the EXCLUDED MEDIUM to the Modern physics, indigenous aboriginal et al NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM.
EXAMPLE: Instead of understanding, as in BINARY LOGIC, the notion that ‘THE TOWN IS GROWING’ which supports linguistic conceptualization based on the ‘brute force’ extraction of a stand-alone BEING-based thing-in-itself as if it could be understood in its own independent right, … we have the option within a less simple NONBINARY LOGIC based linguistic conceptualizing method, to retain the relational nature of the physical dynamic of TOWNING IN THE TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE without RIPPING OUT the notional “TOWN” and resituating its BEING BASED EFFIGY within an EMPTY SPACE FRAME where we create an ARTIFICIAL SIMPLIFED PSEUDO-REALITY in which THE TOWN is an INDEPENDENT BEING based thing that SIMPLIFIES the linguistic conceptualizing requirement. In this approach, we are no longer addressing the less simple NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM wherein THERE IS TOWNING IN THE TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE where such TOWNING is AT THE SAME TIME, “BOTH” ITSELF “AND” THE ENERGY-CHARGED PLENUM IT IS A CONDENSATION IN. This brings with it the need for NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM.
THIS LESS SIMPLE NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM is capable of RESOLVING the CONSERVATIVE – LIBERAL CONFLICT which is hung up on the over-simplicity of BINARY LOGIC based linguistic conceptualizing, and how this is possible is evident in the work of Erich Jantsch which shows that we are all capable of THREE LEVELS OF AWARENESS which is applicable to this need to MOVE to a LESS SIMPLE LOGIC than BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC in that OUR FIRST and HIGHEST LEVEL of AWARENESS takes us beyond the constraining limits of SIMPLE BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC where we SPLIT OUT the TOWN from the TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE and RESITUATE IT WITHIN A NOTIONAL ABSOLUTE EMPTY AND INFINITE SPACE where we can speak of IT as if IT, THE TOWN, is GROWING, DEVELOPING and PRODUCING GOODS; i.e. imputing to “IT” the POWERS OF LOCAL AUTHORING. THIS IS A MAJOR ERROR deriving from SUBSTITUTING SIMPLE BINARY LOGIC based conceptualizing and PUSHING IT BEYOND ITS COMPETENT LIMITS, in describing phenomena that requires LESS SIMPLE NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM wherein THERE IS TOWNING IN THE TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE. IN THE CASE OF THE CONSERVATIVE LIBERAL CONFLICT, THIS SHORTFALL OF BINARY LOGIC based LINGUISTIC CONCEPTUALIZING IS OPERATIVE, and is rooted in given BINARY LOGIC a foundational role that is BLOCKING ENTRY into the WESTERN CULTURE LINGUISTIC CONCEPTUALIZING APPROACH, of the needed, LESS SIMPLE NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC OF THE INCLUDING MEDIUM. In other words, as pointed out in the article previously referenced where researchers such as Neuroscientist Iain McGilchrist suggest that we are abandoning the natural primacy of ‘right brain’ usage and elevating the usage of ‘left brain’ to the point that ‘right brain understanding’ is dropped out [2]? IT IS HIGHLY LIKELY THAT THIS SAME NEED TO UPGRADE FROM TOO SIMPLE BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC of the EXCLUDED MEDIUM to LESS SIMPLE NONBINARY LOGIC OF THE INCLUDING MEDIUM is showing up in multiple investigative disciplines, such as those explored by Lev Vygotsky in THOUGHT and LANGUAGE as also in McGilchrist’s Neuroscience investigations into BRAIN FUNCTIONING and the progressive DROP OUT of the ‘right brain’ involvement which is the near-equivalent to Vygotsky’s findings of the DROP OUT in our WESTERN CULTURE EDUCATING APPROACH of the LESS SIMPLE NONBINARY LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM in our WESTERN CULTURE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM (affirmed by the approach of Piaget with his DOUBLE ERROR of (A) splitting apart the indivisible conjugate relation
Though fundamentally different in nature, the development of scientific [local and explicit] and spontaneous [nonlocal and implicit] concepts represents two sides of the same concept formation
“Our disagreement with Piaget centers on one point only, but an important point. He assumes that development and instruction are entirely separate, incommensurate processes, that the function of instruction is merely to introduce adult ways of thinking, which conflict with the child’s own and eventually supplant them. Such a supposition stems from the old psychological tradition of separating the structural from the functional aspects of development.” –Vygotsky
THE VOCABULARY THAT IS EVOLVING DIFFERS IN THE VARIOUS INVESTIGATIVE AREAS THAT ARE COMING ACROSS THE SAME BASIC ISSUE (the inadequacy of BINARY LOGIC in its linguistic conceptualizing of phenomena that is NONBINARY and beyond the linguistic conceptualizing scope of EITHER/OR based logic, and requiring the less simple NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM wherein independent material forms must give way to CONDENSATIONS of the all-including energy-charged plenum wherein the condensations are BOTH THEMSELVES and at the SAME TIME, the all including energy-charged PLENUM. THE VOCABULARY employed by Dr. Iain McGilchrist, where he argues that many of the problems our society faces stem from the fact that the left hemisphere of our brains has come to dominate our minds and lives, is CONSISTENT with the above findings of Bohm and others though is being expressed in the different languages that we have developed within our different areas of investigation. WHAT OTHERS MAY SAY in terms of the DEA ABSCONDITA (the Goddess in hiding) are reaffirming the same basic understanding as in indigenous aboriginal terms the interconnect and interdependence of strands in the web, that is being DROPPED OUT of WESTERN CULTURE SIMPLE BINARY LOGIC based LINGUISTIC CONCEPTUALIZATIONS.
We don’t appear to know the answer to this problem of differing linguistic conceptualizing approaches that are diluting and dispersing the many mutually consistent findings that we need to upgrade the logical foundations in our linguistic conceptualizing schemes, from the currently dominant but too simple binary either/or logic of the excluded medium to the needed but less simple both/and logic of the including medium, as affirmed by Modern physics, indigenous aboriginals, Taoist/Buddhist and Advaita Vedanta. In the presence of major divisions in the social dynamic such as the polarizing disagreement of conservatives and liberals, that are both committed users of the too-simple gold standard of binary logic, there is no access to resolution that comes with the upgrade to less simple nonbinary both/and logic of the including medium which opens the door to a LESS SIMPLE, MORE COMPREHENSIVE MODE OF UNDERSTANDING that in Jantsch’s LEVELS OF AWARENESS conceptualizing method, the FIRST and MOST AWARE MODE of AWARENESS which can be expressed in NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC OF THE INCLUDING MEDIUM TERMS but which lies beyond the linguistic conceptualizing reach of BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC of the EXCLUDED (EMPTY SPACE) MEDIUM.
Somehow, we need to come to grips with the reality that not only are we western culture adherents stuck with having made too-simple binary either/or logic of the excluded medium the gold standard in our linguistic conceptualizing schemes, we are stuck with having developed competent nonbinary both/and logic of the including medium alternatives, but we have developed them within the particular and separate contexts which fragments their more general acceptance. On a one-by-one basis, findings of the need for supplanting too-simple BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC OF THE EXLUDED MEDIUM foundations in linguistic conceptualizations whose less simple structures demand NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM treatment, such as the case of Vygotsky’s critique of Piaget’s development of a schooling approach that DROPS OUT the FEMALE ACCOMMODATING/ENABLING conjugate and has supported the continuing dominance of simple BINARY LOGIC based LINGUISTIC CONCEPTUALIZING in standard WESTERN CULTURE EDUCATION.
Could the CORRECTING of this ERROR (which has been identified in multiple areas of philosophical and scientific investigation) of the problematic deployment of TOO SIMPLE BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC wherein the physical reality that is intended for capture requires the less simple NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC OF THE INCLUDING MEDIUM (wherein material forms are condensations of the energy-charged PLENUM), be the path to RESOLVING CONFLICTS where opposing factions such as the HEAD-BUTTING of CONSERVATIVES and LIBERALS?
THIS HEAD-BUTTING arises from the LIMITATIONS of SIMPLE BINARY LOGIC which is FAILING to provide sufficiently comprehensive linguistic conceptualizing support; i.e. the capability of NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT relations that support the foundational platform for LOCAL end EXPLICIT action content? Note that WESTERN CULTURE CONSERVATIVES AND LIBERALS are following the general WESTERN CULTURE TREND in LINGUISTIC CONCEPTUALIZING where the simple BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC of the EXCLUDED MEDIUM is commonly employed and given foundational status. This BINARY LOGIC limited mode of linguistic conceptualizing appears to underlie the seemingly unresolvable POLARIZATION of WESTERN CULTURE CONSERVATIVES AND LIBERALS.
IN THIS INTRODUCTION TO “LANGUAGE and LOGIC AS THE SOURCE OF SOCIAL CONFLICT” I am faced with the task of TRYING TO CONSOLIDATE many different disciplinary findings which, while equivalent, are fragmented in spite of their consistency, by having to be articulated in the different linguistic conceptualizing schemes of their respective disciplines. Examples were given of how Vygotsky’s findings (important critique of what we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS are putting into our standard educational content that is being fed to our children in more or less the same process as the feeding of geese to affect the desired result of fois gras, which is to satisfy what public consumption is looking for which is within the present paradigm. No-one is contradicting the findings of Vygotsky which include the basic issue that NONBINARY LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM is needed to understand how our children’s own natural capability works and how best we may support it in our approach to THEIR EDUCATION. BUTH THEN AGAIN, NO-ONE IS ATTEMPTING TO INTRODUCE THE NEEDED UPGRADE FROM TOO SIMPLE BINARY LOGIC to LESS SIMPLE NONBINARY LOGIC in our educational system (Piaget’s BINARY LOGIC based error persists in our WESTERN schooling of children in spite of Vygotsky’s on-target critique, pointing to the need for upgrade to NONBINARY LOGIC).
OUR EDUCATING APPROACH IS CURRENTLY DROPPING OUT THE FEMALE ACCOMMODATING/ENABLING CONJUGATE; i.e. to repeat the earlier given quote; Though fundamentally different in nature, the development of scientific [local and explicit] and spontaneous [nonlocal and implicit] concepts represents two sides of the same concept formation.
Our WESTERN CULTURE educational system is bulling ahead and continuing to make the mistake warned of by Vygotsky, teaching our children to (FIRST MISTAKE) split apart the scientific [local and explicit] and spontaneous [nonlocal and implicit], WHICH ARE CONJUGATE AND DO NOT SPLIT APART, and (SECOND MISTAKE), DROP OUT the spontaneous [nonlocal and implicit] and proceed to develop linguistic conceptualizations based SOLELY on the scientific [local and explicit]. This mistaken DROP-OUT of the FEMALE ACCOMMODATING/ENABLING [nonlocal and implicit] from our WESTERN CULTURE linguistic conceptualizing scheme which we PATCH UP with the substitution of a notional ABSOLUTE EMPTY AND INFINITE SPACE, has cleared the way for using one-sided MALE ASSERTING/ACTUALIZING [local and explicit] PROPOSITIONS “ON THEIR OWN”. What follows is the WESTERN CULTURE one-sided focus on GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCTION as if there were no conjugate SHRINKING of WILDERNESS, DECAY of existing structure and CONSUMPTION of rare depletable resources. This WESTERN CULTURE SELF-BLINDING DROP-OUT of the FEMALE ACCOMMODATING/ENABLING, which has induced background talk of the DEA ABSCONDITA (Goddess in hiding) has even shown up in WESTERN CULTURE CRIMINAL JUSTICE; e.g.
Because we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS have chosen to PRETEND that we live in an EMPTY SPACE, this being the result of our use of simple BINARY LOGIC in our LINGUISTIC CONCEPTUALIZING SCHEME, we LIMIT our PROPOSITIONS to “WHAT THINGS DO” (the male asserting/actualizing conjugate) and DROP OUT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of the female accommodating/enabling that is ALWAYS conjugate with the male asserting/actualizing. That is, if a man punches another man in the head and the recipient’s skull shatters DUE TO HIS HAVING AN EGGSHELL THIN SKULL, WESTERN CULTURE JUSTICE holds the PUNCHER FULLY AND SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGE because we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS have designed our LINGUISTIC CONCEPTUALIZING SCHEME using only the one-sided MALE ASSERTING/ACTUALIZING conjugate. This is the same error as Vygotsky has pointed out that is being made by Piaget and is being infused into the WESTERN CULTURE educational approach.
IN PLAIN AND SIMPLE TERMS, THE REALITY WE ARE DEALING WITH THROUGH OUR PHYSICAL SENSORY EXPERIENCE DEMANDS CAPTURE IN LINGUISTIC CONCEPTUALIZATION THAT CAN DEAL WITH NONBINARY LOGIC OF THE INCLUDING MEDIUM WHEREIN THE FEMALE ACCOMMODATING/ENABLING SERVES AS THE (nonlocal and implicit [relational]) CONTAINER FOR THE MALE ASSERTING/ACTUALIZING (local and explicit) CONTENT are in CONJUGATE RELATION.
This means that the CONSERVATIVE – LIBERAL SPLIT, which is BINARY LOGIC BASED, not only splits apart the FEMALE ACCOMMODATING/ENABLING THAT SERVES AS THE (nonlocal and implicit [relational]) CONTAINER FOR THE MALE ASSERTING/ACTUALIZING (local and explicit). IT DOES SO IN SPITE OF THE FACT THAT THIS CONJUGATE RELATION, like the PEAK and TROUGH of the WAVE, is a complex UNUM and does NOT consist of TWO SEPARABLE PARTS. This means that the SPLITTING INTO SEPARATE TROUGH AND PEAK “COMPONENTS” as PIAGET has done to simplify the educational approach, a MISTAKE which is unfortunately COMMON in WESTERN EDUCATIONAL approaches.

In this case, the SIMPLIFICATION BASED MISTAKE is being made in order to ISOLATE THAT WHICH DOES NOT EXIST IN ITS OWN SEPARATE RIGHT, I.E. THE MALE ASSERTING/ACTUALIZING (the local and explicit), then giving it PRIMARY and unbalanced reign WITHIN THE LINGUISTIC CONCEPTUALIZING SCHEME without any reference to the FEMALE ACCOMMODATING/ENABLING conjugate, hence the references to the DEA ABSCONDITA (Goddess in hiding).
This reduction clearls the way for supporting simple BINARY LOGIC based propositions such as “THE TOWN IS GROWING” which are given STAND-ALONE ASSERTING STATUS as if within an ABSOLUTE EMPTY AND INFINITE SPACE, while the DROPPED OUT FEMALE ACCOMMODATING/ENABLING “SHRINKING OF THE WILDERNESS” is given no mention, thus giving rise to whispers in the background of the ‘DEA ABSCONDITA (goddess in hiding). The DIVIDE and CONQUER POWER of our WESTERN CULTURE addiction to simple BINARY LOGIC based linguistic conceptualizing is now ENORMOUS and backed by those who are MAKING OUT WELL by the simplicity of the LOCAL AUTHOR CONCEPT which is embraced and protected by those credited with POSITIVE LOCAL, EXPLICIT AUTHORING and not so much by those credited with NEGATIVE LOCAL AUTHORING. IF THIS ESSAY SEEMS AT FIRST COMPLEX and IMPENETRABLE, … understandable in light of the fact of my limited writing skills, such an IMPRESSION can be largely due to our difficulty in LETTING GO of our expectation of being able to use our common BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC OF THE EXCLUDED MEDIUM based interpretation of written materials (linguistic conceptualizations) and accept the needed upgrade to NONBINARY LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM.
WE WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS ARE FULLY CAPABLE OF, but NOT ACCUSTOMED TO, interpreting NONBINARY LOGIC OF THE INCLUDING MEDIUM based linguistic conceptualizations. THE UPGRADE WE MUST DEAL WITH comes with the reinstatement of the active role of what we have been calling EMPTY SPACE to the ENERGY-CHARGED PLENUM. We have bumped into this need in such cases as the MINER’S CANARY understanding wherein it is NOT SUFFICIENT to perceive this episode in the simple terms of the ORGANISM as separate from its EMPTY OPERATING SPACE, where we must assign an influencing role to the OPERATING SPACE (in reality, the energy-charged PLENUM) which is in this example the source of illness in the OCCUPANT which will NOT be revealed by exhaustive search of the canary’s internals. This recalls Goedel’s Theorem of the INCOMPLETENESS of ALL FINITE LOGICAL PROPOSITIONS since there are no answers to the canary’s illness coming from the asserting actions of its internal systems. WHAT IS NEEDED is the more comprehensive NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC based PARADIGM in which the CANARY is a CANARYING within the TRANSFORMING RELATIONAL CONTINUUM wherein it is included within a BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM relation. As Bohm observes; “Space is not empty. It is full, a plenum as opposed to a vacuum, and is the ground for the existence of everything, including ourselves.” (Bohm).
THIS INCLUSION OF OURSELVES WITHIN THE OVERALL CONTAINING ENERGY-CHARGED PLENUM involves a complexity that lies beyond the limited capability of BINARY LOGIC based investigation, where the CANARY is SEEN as an included feature within the TRANSFORMING RELATIONAL CONTINUUM, thus demanding a more HOLISTIC approach to our understandings and investigations, which parallel those of indigenous aboriginals. WESTERN CULTURE’S PURIFICATIONIST (find and eliminate the local problematic causal agent) APPROACHES TO HEALING (i.e. FINDING AND ELIMINATING THE LOCAL AUTHORING SOURCE) MAY GIVE IMMEDIATE RELIEF, but if the BASIC PROBLEM OR DYSFUNCTION resides for example in the broader context of the practices of the social relational matrix of community (as is the understanding of indigenous aboriginals in their restorative justice), the superficial attack on the ‘one holding the smoking gun’ is an attack merely on the VENT for tensions that have been building in the social matrix (in the STRAND IN THE WEB in indigenous aboriginal terms), in which case this amounts to SHOOTING THE MESSENGER or in the terms of WESTERN PSYCHIATRY “SCAPE-GOATING THE IDENTIFIED PATIENT”. This is a simplified expedient substituted for the REAL ISSUE which pervades the overall social collective as understood in INDIGENOUS RESTORATIVE JUSTICE.
IN CLOSING THIS INTRODUCTION to LANGUAGE and LOGIC AS THE SOURCE OF SOCIAL CONFLICT, it needs to be said that while the issues may appear to be multiple and complex, all of the issues that have been covered point to the problematic use of BINARY LOGIC and the failure to open our AWARENESS to our inclusion in TRANSFORMATION which is Jantsch’s LEVEL 1 AWARENESS of the THREE LEVELS he has described which can be tied to CONSERVATIVE awareness (lowest level 3), LIBERAL awareness (second to lowest level 2) and TRANSFORMATION awareness (highest level 1). NOTE: Jantsch’s descriptions of the THREE LEVELS use the labels Scientific, Mythological and Evolutionary.
A ROUGH MEASURE OF THE DIFFICULTY WE WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS MAY HAVE IN ‘UPGRADING” our LOGIC from SIMPLE BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC of the EXCLUDED MEDIUM to LESS SIMPLE NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM, can be found in considering how the NONBINARY LOGIC based RESTORATIVE JUSTICE of indigenous aboriginal cultures will consider the SOCIAL COLLECTIVE to be responsible for the crimes for which a Ghislaine Maxwell is accused. It is the use of TOO SIMPLE BINARY LOGIC that supports this mistaken SCAPE-GOATING OF THE IDENTIFIED PATIENT and the associated ERROR of considering everyone to be INNOCENT unless PROVEN GUILTY in denial of our STRAND-IN-THE-WEB interconnection and interdependence.

MY INTRO TO JANTSCH’ THREE LEVELS OF AWARENESS/INQUIRY … WARNING: The HEADING LABELS I am using are my own which also borrow from the many adaptations of Jantsch’s formulation, to try to simplify without distorting the basic message. One must refer to Jantsch’s original text reproduced below (the introductory portion) for Jantsch’s titles for his 3 levels (i.e. Scientific, Mythological and Evolutionary). Jantsch has used ‘levels of awareness’ somewhere in his writing but I have not been able to track it down at this time.
My own philosophical investigations, support the findings like those of Erich Jantsch who used the notion that we have THREE LEVELS OF AWARENESS that are more or less employed in our linguistic conceptualizing approaches. For example, we may use language based on our from-a-distance voyeur view of things (LEVEL 3 AWARENESS) or we may use language from our close involvement as if we were in the same swimming pool where the multiple occupants will have an awareness of how the splashing of others ‘makes waves’ that impact them and likewise how their ‘wave making’ impacts others. This a LEVEL 2 AWARENESS which leads to moderation of one’s action based on awareness of how they may impact others which in many cases is the common ethic. LEVEL 1 AWARENESS is the awareness of indigenous aboriginal strands in the web interconnection and interdependence where ‘we are the web we are strands in’ which is where RESTORATIVE JUSTICE DERIVES. In indigenous aboriginal language, mitakuye oyasin has the meaning that ‘we are all related’. And as David Bohm and F. David Peat (Blackfoot Physics) have pointed out, the indigenous aboriginal understanding of the world is a layover to the MODERN PHYSICS understanding of the world wherein everything is interconnected and interdependent by virtue of the fact that all material forms are condensations of the all including energy-charged plenum.
Jantsch’s work opens the door to insights as to how POLARIZED DIFFERENCE OF OPINION AS TO WHAT IS GOING ON CAN DEVELOP; i.e. through accessing different levels of awareness. Investigations into the polar opposite views of CONSERVATIVES and LIBERALS such as those cited in the text of this note do not get into the ‘levels of awareness’-based differences in understanding of what is going on, yet such understanding has a strong match with our experience supported data when one takes into account the WESTERN CULTURE mistaken belief in the existence of LOCAL AUTHORING since LOCAL AUTHORING is the FOUNDATIONAL ASSUMPTION used by both CONSERVATIVES and LIBERALS in understanding the SOCIAL DYNAMIC. NOT SO for indigenous aboriginals who employ LEVEL 1 AWARENESS wherein EVERYTHING IS RELATED which is beyond the reach of BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC of the EXCLUDED MEDIUM. HERE, INSTEAD the INCLUDING MEDIUM IS TRANSFORMATION which lies beyond the reach of BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC of the EXCLUDED MEDIUM and requires the NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM (image in your mind the BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM in the case of WHORLING in FLOWING and in the case of the STRAND IN THE WEB relational dynamics. Here we see that everything is related in which case it makes no sense to scapegoat an “identified patient”, but to accept the social collective as the authoring source and to employ the ‘healing circle’ to subsume the tensions in the social collective (the web) which is the source of the venting through a strand, where the community and not the venting strand is the source of the violence.
Transexperiential Inquiry
The scientific method, in a narrow interpretation, yields a kind of knowledge which does not express the full experience which flows from our interaction with, and inquiry into, reality. The appears as a particularly grave drawback for social science which deals with the life of society as if it was observed from some extraterrestrial spaceship lingering above the earth and its scientists trying to observe and correlate what they see humans do and what, to them, seems to be totally without purpose. Where movement toward a purpose, or generally a telos, comes into the focus of inquiry – whether in the physical or the social sciences – is the full range of human experience in relating to reality matters. I call inquiry with such a scope transexperiential inquiry. It may be set in the framework of different approaches, or levels of inquiry, which are distinguished by the assumptions they make about the relationship between subject and object, observer and observed.
The classical scientific approach assumes separation between the observer and observed, and focuses on an impersonal “it” which is supposed to be assessed objectively and without involvement by an outside observer; the basic organizing principle here is logic and the results are expressed in quantitative or structural terms.
The mythological approach established a feedback link between the observer and the observed, and focuses on the relationship between a personal “I” and a personal “thou” ; its basic organizing principle is feeling and the results obtained are in qualitative terms.
The evolutionary approach established union between the observer and observed and focusses on the “we”, on the identity of the forces acting in the observer and the observed world ; the organizing principle is “tuning -in” by virtue of this identity,, and the results are expressed in terms of sharing in an universal process (namely, evolution).
All three approaches are part of the world and are taken to elucidate different aspects of it. They constitute but partial aspects of a multifaceted subject/object relationship as it is evoked most suggestively in a thirteenth century Japanese Zen parable :
Two monks were arguing about a flag. One said : “the flag is moving.
The other said : “the wind is moving.”
The sixth patriarch happed to be passing by. He told them “
“Not the wind, not the flag; mind is moving.”
Wind, flag, mind moves,
The same understanding.
When the mouth opens

BINARY LOGIC is the SACRED COW of WESTERN CULTURE’S APPROACH TO LINGUISTIC CONCEPTUALIZATION. IT IS SCREWING US UP. IT IS TIME FOR SOMETHING BETTER, NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM.
WHAT IS NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM? It is the less simple LOGIC that associates with CONDENSATIONS in the ENERGY-CHARGED PLENUM, which is a LESS SIMPLE conceptualizing of reality than our WESTERN CULTURE STANDARD. It is less simple in the following manner;
Our standard BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC of the EXCLUDED MEDIUM can be exemplified by the notion of there being an EMPTY SPACE within which there is a MATERIAL OBJECT. Here we have two separate things; i.e. a LOCAL, EXPLICIT MATERIAL OBJECT and an ABSOLUTE EMPTY AND INFINITE SPACE, which is another way of saying that there is absolutely nothing there. We use this BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC of the EXCLUDED MEDIUM all of the time when we (WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS WITH OUR BINARY LOGIC language habit) converse with one another. For example, we say things like ‘THE TOWN IS GROWING’ (notice that this linguistic conceptualization is LOCAL and EXPLICIT, which is to say, there is no mention of any NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT containing space.
Indigenous aboriginal languages are NOT LIKE THIS and neither is physical reality as understood in modern physics. In indigenous aboriginal languages as also in physical reality, there is no empty space, but there is an all including energy-charged PLENUM (a fullness rather than an emptiness) which has CONDENSATIONS in it which show up as material forms but rather than being LOCAL and EXPLICIT things in themselves, they are features within the NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT energy-charged PLENUM. In other words, these CONDENSATIONS are BOTH themselves AND the PLENUM they are included in. The LOGIC of this arrangement is the BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM. That is, the CONDENSATION is BOTH “ITSELF” AND THE INCLUDING MEDIUM as would be the case with a WHORLING IN A FLOWING or a STRAND in a WEB, where the STRAND is, at the same time, ITSELF “AND” the WEB it is included in. And likewise with the SHORLING in the FLOWING.
So this BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM which is the general description that describes the STRAND-in-the-WEB etc. This is how indigenous aboriginal people understand themselves as in the phrase ‘mitakuye oyasin’ which means ‘everything is related’ as with ‘strands in a web’. This means that everything is like the condensations in the energy-charged plenum, interconnected and interdependent in which case, if one strand becomes violent, the violence cannot be locally authored because of the interconnections and interdependencies. So that if one strand becomes violent, this is NOT being locally authored. in the case of strands in a web, the movement is of a nonlocal and implicit (relational) origin and not of a local and explicit origin. This is why indigenous aboriginal JUSTICE is RESTORATIVE rather than PUNITIVE since the origin of the violence is NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT and is only LOCAL and EXPLICIT in its MANIFEST APPEARANCE. This is why Schroedinger refers to events that appear to be LOCAL and EXPLICIT as “Schaumkommen” (APPEARANCE), since they are NOT LOCAL and EXPLICIT in origin but NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT in origin. This is why, in indigenous aboriginal culture, where there is an eruption of violence, the response is NOT to punish or eliminate the individual (strand in the web) that VENTS THE VIOLENCE but to gather the community together in a healing circle because it is understood that the source of the violence is NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT (relational).
This understanding of the world dynamic in terms of NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM which involves the STRAND-in-the-WEB relation where strand movement is NOT LOCALLY AUTHORED but is NONLOCALLY SOURCED, is how both indigenous aboriginals and modern physics understands things, and it is clearly less simple and has us doing things very differently than when we are understanding the world dynamic in terms of BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC of the EXCLUDED MEDIUM which supports thinking in terms of LOCAL, EXPLICIT material objects moving about in ABSOLUTE EMPTY and INFINITE SPACE.
WE WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS have not been able to transition into this understanding because it requires that we STOP USING BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC OF THE EXCLUDED MEDIUM (stop assuming the empty space medium) and BINARY LOGIC is clear and clean thanks to its EITHER/OR JUDGEMENTS which we can see at play in the CONSERVATIVE – LIBERAL POLARIZATION which is peaking in the U.S. and threatens the same everywhere in the WESTERN CULTURE WORLD.
Indigenous aboriginals, who are users of NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC of the INCLUDING MEDIUM have problems that are understood differently because they are recognized as having NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT (relational) origins. Because the problems that arise are only local and explicit IN APPEARANCE (schaumkommen), it does not make sense to SCAPE-GOAT the IDENTIFIED PATIENT but to instead subsume the tensions in the web that are the NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT source of the violence or dysfunction.
