WESTERN CULTURE HAS A TRADITIONAL ‘ADDICTION’ TO SIMPLE BINARY LOGIC, the EITHER/OR LOGIC of the “EXCLUDED MEDIUM” wherein actions are EITHER RIGHT OR WRONG in which case WESTERN CULTURE JUSTICE is PURIFICATIONIST (i.e. oriented to the ELIMINATION of ALL BEHAVIOURS THAT ARE “WRONG” through the practice of REWARDING and CELEBRATING THOSE WITH “GOOD BEHAVIOURS” and PUNISHING and “DENIGRATING” THOSE WITH BAD BEHAVIOURS.

EASTERN CULTURE and INDIGENOUS ABORIGINALS HAVE A TRADITIONAL ORIENTATION TO LESS SIMPLE NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC OF THE INCLUDED MEDIUM wherein the UNDERSTANDING OF “WHAT AN ACTION IS” DIFFERS FROM WESTERN CULTURE EXCLUDED MEDIUM because of the understanding (AFFIRMED BY MODERN PHYSICS) that EVERYTHING IS INTERCONNECTED AND INTERDEPENDENT.  There is a BIG DIFFERENCE HERE in that the UNDERSTANDING is that the ORIGIN of all events is NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT (relational), deriving from the SOCIAL COLLECTIVE and merely MANIFESTING THROUGH an individual seen as a STRAND in the INTERCONNECTING/INTERDEPENDENT WEB.   This agrees with MODERN PHYSICS where material forms are CONDENSATIONS of the all-including ENERGY-CHARGED PLENUM wherein there is the same (STRAND IN THE WEB type) INTERDEPENDENCE and INTERCONNECTION between the dynamics of the CONDENSATIONS and the dynamics of the ENERGY-CHARGED PLENUM.

 

MODERN PHYSICS ”SUPPORTS”  THE  LESS SIMPLE NONBINARY BOTH/AND LOGIC OF THE INCLUDED MEDIUM e.g. “There is TOWNING in the TRANSFORMING LANDSCAPE”

NOTA BENE:   In the MODERN PHYSICS understanding of dynamics, EVERYTHING IS INTERCONNECTED AND INTERDEPENDENT AS WITH STRANDS IN A WEB (condensations within the PLENUM) and that is why MODERN PHYSICS supports indigenous aboriginal RESTORATIVE JUSTICE because the AUTHORING AGENCY is NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT (relational).  Imagine the multiple participants in a WATER BALLET simulating the opening of a LOTUS BLOSSOM.  The authoring source that determines the quality of the opening blossom is the GROUP and there is no FIXED, ABSOLUTE REFERENCE FRAME with which to make JUDGEMENTS ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS. ONLY THE GROUP CAN BE JUDGED which is the situation that gives rise to RESTORATIVE JUSTICE.

 

In physics, it is impossible to isolate and measure each individual’s movements in a group of THREE OR MORE participants who are using one another as references.  This is known as ‘the THREE BODY PROBLEM’; i.e. “the impossibility of calculating the individual movements of three or more bodies [strands] moving under one-another’s simultaneous mutual influence”.

 

We can understand this with the example where we imagine ourselves participating in a water-ballet where we are co-forming the opening of a Lotus blossom in which case we only have our relationships with one another as a reference and there is NO ABSOLUTE REFERENCE FRAME as would be required to make judgements as to the quality of EACH INDIVIDUAL’S CONTRIBUTION to the unfolding lotus blossom.  If the blossom ‘looks crooked’, we cannot isolate particular individuals as being MOST RESPONSIBLE for the crookedness, because of “the impossibility of calculating the individual movements of three or more bodies [strands] moving under one-another’s simultaneous mutual influence”.

 

This is truly a ‘team sport’ where one egotist participant CANNOT claim that he is consistently getting it right and that the others are wrong because there only reference is the group dynamic and there is no fixed reference frame to support a judgement of an individual’s movement.

 

We understand this when we are driving in freeway traffic, were ‘we’ as a ‘group’ understand that we have the JOINT ABILITY to open up an escape channel for a driver that is being ‘squeezed out’ and is in danger of colliding with others.  Our friendly act of JOINTLY OPENING UP AN ESCAPE CHANNEL for that individual is something that WE, the FRIENDLY CO-CREATORS OF THE ESCAPE CHANNEL that saves that other person from a collision, are CO-AWARE OF and UNDERSTAND THAT WE HAVE MADE A VALUABLE AND IMPORTANT CONTRIBUTION is something that WE CANNOT BE CREDITED FOR AS AN INDIVIDUAL because of “the impossibility of calculating the individual movements of three or more bodies [strands] moving under one-another’s simultaneous mutual influence”.

 

IN THIS CASE, OUR GROUP MOVEMENT IS IMPORTANT AND VALUABLE, it is just that GROUP MOVEMENT that is relational does not ‘BREAK DOWN’ INTO INDIVIDUAL COMPONENT MOVEMENTS because movements generated from simultaneous mutual influence don’t break down into individual components

HOW MUCH OF OUR ACTIONS ARE IN THIS CATEGORY WHERE THEY ARE IMPORTANT AND VALUABLE BUT ARE INVISIBLE?

PROBLEM!

 

The “TEN COMMANDMENTS are in the form of LOGICAL PROPOSITIONS that GOVERN AN INDIVIDUAL’S LOCALLY AUTHORED BEHAVIOUR.  Those who SCORE WELL on this basis may nevertheless be participating as a STRAND-IN-THE-WEB of community dynamics where THEFT, RAPE and MURDER ARE ON THE RISE.  The UNDERSTANDING in Indigenous aboriginal culture is that THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS LOCAL AUTHORING OF ACTIONS and DEVELOPMENTS and the THEFT, RAPE and MURDER that UNFOLDS derives from IMBALANCE in the INTERCONNECTED and INTERDEPENDENT STRANDS in the WEB matrix nnnnn, IMBALANCE that IS NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT IN ORIGIN but which, because it VENTS through particular STRANDS, is WRONGLY ASSUMED to BE LOCALLY AUTHORED by that STRAND.

 

SO, WHILE WESTERN CULTURE IS MONITORING AND JUDGING INDIVIDUAL BEHAVIOURS FOR COMPLIANCE OR NONCOMPLIANCE WITH THE TEN COMMANDMENTS; i.e;

 

  1. You shall have no other gods before Me.
  2. You shall not make or worship idols.
  3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
  4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
  5. Honor your father and your mother.
  6. You shall not murder.
  7. You shall not commit adultery.
  8. You shall not steal.
  9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. 
  10. You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor

 

In a very different approach, INDIGENOUS ABORIGINAL CULTURES are gathering in HEALING CIRCLES which AVOID “SCAPE-GOATING THE IDENTIFIED PATIENT” (the “Identified Patient” is the strand in the web that is the VENT FOR, and not the source of, tensions that have been building in the social collective).

 

The HEALING CIRCLES are designed to address IMBALANCES in the INTERCONNECTED and INTERDEPENDENT social-relational matrix aka THE STRANDS-IN-THE WEB complex, wherein relational TENSIONS build and VENT as in THEFT, RAPE and MURDER, where it is understood that the THIEF, RAPIST and MURDERER are NOT “LOCAL AUTHORS” (as would imply ‘independent beings’) but are STRAND-IN-THE-WEB CONDUITS for the VENTING of relational tensions that build in the soclal-relational WEB .

 

The VIOLENCE is thus seen as RELATIONAL DISSONANCE brewed within the STRANDS-IN-THE-WEB social collective and VENTING through a particular STRAND that, rather than being the AUTHOR of the VIOLENCE is the CONDUIT for VIOLENCE brewed within the social collective (the WEB).

 

The TEN COMMANDMENTS is thus a DISTRACTION FROM THE REAL SOURCE OF SOCIAL-RELATIONAL DISSONANCE which is NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT (relational).  Given that the source of VIOLENCE is NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT, in which case the HEALING CIRCLE makes good sense, the TEN COMMANDMENTS, by orienting to the REWARDING of LOCAL AUTHORS OF GOOD BEHAVIOUR and the PUNISHING OF LOCAL AUTHORS OF BAD BEHAVIOUR, constitutes a DOUBLE ERROR because there is NO SUCH THING AS LOCAL AUTHORING OF ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENT.  What prevails in a STRAND-IN-THE-WEB DYNAMIC are actions that are NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT in AUTHORING ORIGIN rather than LOCAL and EXPLICIT in AUTHORING ORIGIN.  As Nietzsche has pointed out and Schroedinger has reaffirmed, the LOCAL and EXPLICIT is only APPEARANCE (Schaumkommen) since EVERYTHING IS IN FLUX and we must look to the NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT.

CONCLUSIONS:

 

WESTERN JUSTICE IS SCREWING UP BY SEEING PEOPLE, NOT AS STRANDS IN A WEB of interconnected and interdependent co-participants, BUT AS IF PEOPLE WERE LOCAL, INDEPENDENT BEINGS, LOCAL THINGS-IN-THEMSELVES NOTIONALLY WITH THEIR OWN POWERS OF AUTHORING ACTIONS AND DEVELOPMENTS in which case they are FULLY and SOLELY RESPONSIBLE for their own ACTIONS and DEVELOPMENTS.

 

This is very different from the indigenous aboriginal sense of self as STRANDS IN A WEB where there are no INDIVIDUAL DYNAMICS there is only the WEB-DYNAMIC in which the dynamic of a STRAND is a VENTING of the WEB-DYNAMIC (as affirmed by an understanding of the “THREE+ BODY PROBLEM which alerts us to the fact that when three or more active sources are simultaneously contributing to an unfolding development it is impossible to determine ‘who authored what’) .

 

In WESTERN CULTURE, there is a persisting INFLUENCE of FALSE UNDERSTANDINGS such as are given by the TEN COMMANDMENTS which by INFERENCE, suggest to us that we WESTERN CULTURE ADHERENTS have powers of AUTHORING our own ACTIONS and DEVELOPMENTS (as if within an ABSOLUTE EMPTY AND INFINITE SPACE that implies that OUR ACTIONS MUST BE FULLY AND SOLELY “OUR OWN ACTIONS”).   WESTERN CULTURE’S IMPOSING of BINARY EITHER/OR LOGIC OF THE EXCLUDED (empty space) MEDIUM gives us a means of communicating in SIMPLE TERMS where we discriminate between “EITHER” GOOD “OR” BAD BEHAVIOUR.  This conflicts with Modern physics and indigenous aboriginals’ NONBINARY BOTH GOOD AND BAD LOGIC OF THE INCLUDING MEDIUM where the LOCAL and EXPLICIT is understood as being GROUNDED IN THE NONLOCAL and the IMPLICIT (e.g. we may speak of the GROWTH of the TOWN (local and explicit) which is a linear expansion) but if we add the logic of the including medium, we are informed as to the TRANSFORMING OF THE LANDSCAPE where we can consider how much SHRINKING of the WILDERNESS is associated with the GROWTH OF THE TOWN.  Understanding the TRANSFORMING of the LANDSCAPE is a higher level of understanding than understanding the GROWTH of the TOWN.

 

In exploring the utility of the TEN COMMANDMENTS, it is useful to consider the AMBIGUITY AS TO WHETHER AN EVENT IS EITHER “GOOD” OR “BAD” is illustrated in the ZEN PARABLE of the HORSE and also in David Bohm’s similar account of Lincoln’s shooting by James Wilkes Booth.   The message is that we live within an UNFOLDING RELATIONAL CONTINUUM where one thing is continually leading to another in a manner that is not predictable, in which case our classification of a particular event as GOOD or BAD presupposes that our CHOPPING OUT AND HIGHLIGHTING A LOCAL, EXPLICIT FRAGMENT of the unfolding transforming continuum is MEANINGFUL.  GOING AGAINST THIS is Goedel’s Theorem of the INCOMPLETENESS of all FINITE LOGICAL PROPOSITIONS which points out that while such HIGHLIGHTS as we may selectively CHOP OUT OF the unfolding continuum, while they may well be TRUE, are unavoidably INCOMPLETE with respect to the CONTINUALLY UNFOLDING REALITY, and this points to an ever-present exposure to BIASED SELECTION of INCOMPLETE TRUTHS.

 

These points give us cause to QUESTION the RELEVANCE of LOGICAL PROPOSITIONS (they are always incomplete).   SO, for example, ‘HE HAS MURDERED’ violates the COMMANDMENT “YOU SHALL NOT MURDER” but if we understand things in the indigenous aboriginal STRAND IN THE WEB terms, which is supported by Modern physics, we see that there is a NONLOCAL and IMPLICIT AUTHORING SOURCE of the MURDER (the VIOLENT STRAND is NOT THE LOCAL AUTHOR OF THE MURDER BUT A CONDUIT THROUGH WHICH TENSIONS BUILDING WITHIN THE SOCIAL RELATIONAL WEB HAVE VENTED).   The TEN COMMANDMENTS ARE SIMPLE BINARY LOGIC BASED and are TOO SIMPLE to take into account that the ACTIVE AGENT in the KILLING, the “STRAND IN THE WEB”,  was a VENT for TENSIONS building within the WEB (social relational collective) in which case the person HOLDING THE SMOKING GUN IS NOT THE AUTHOR of the KILLING but a CONDUIT for VIOLENCE building within the WEB, and this is the REASON why PURIFICATIONIST JUSTICE (based on analytic-reductionist thinking) IS INAPPROPRIATE, CONFLICT-GENERATING and DYSFUNCTIONAL, due to the interconnectedness and mutual interdependence in our STRANDS-IN-THE WEB social collective, and thus why RESTORATIVE JUSTICE IS APPROPRIATE.

The key point is here;   the person HOLDING THE SMOKING GUN IS NOT THE AUTHOR of the KILLING but a CONDUIT for VIOLENCE building within the dysfunction-ridden social WEB, and this is the REASON why PURIFICATIONIST JUSTICE (based on analytic-reductionist thinking) IS INAPPROPRIATE, CONFLICT-GENERATING and DYSFUNCTIONAL, … since we are in reality living in a world characterized by global interconnectedness and mutual interdependence, as typified by our STRANDS-IN-THE WEB social collective, which is why RESTORATIVE JUSTICE IS APPROPRIATE (since we-as-a-whole are fucking up, and we can’t keep scape-goating the ‘identified patients’ (the violent strands in the web).

 

That is, it is our community dynamic that is the source of individual based violence (the individual is just the conduit for blowing off the tensions building in our community).   we can’t keep blaming law-breakers, we need to fix the whole system including the rich and influential who are ‘getting away with murder’.
